Creating report from Infopath library/submitted forms

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, I got a form that has repeating table containg data. The form is submitted to a form library on MOSS 2007 site. Some of the key fields from the form has been promoted to the library, which allows creating views and gives the user a quick report based on the filter. Now, the user wants similar function, however the data is stored in the repeating table. I can use double eval function to combine data from each columns and promote them to the library. But obviously, it doesn't give the user accurate/the kind of report he is looking for using the views. Do you have any suggestion? The only option I can think of is storing each row from repeating table into an Access database or sharepoint list. But that'll also involve making sure correct data is being updated in these secondary data source when updating the form.  Pman http://www.pmansLab.com/

Infopath Brower enabled form not visible in the sharepoint library after being submitted

Hi, I have created a infopath browser enabled form to submit to a sharepoint form library, however the submitted forms are not visible in the sharepoint link structure.   I'm able to see them in the SPD structure.  I'm using infopath 2007 and MOSS. I actually created a SPD workflow which retrieves specific values from the submitted form and saves it to another sharepoint list. This works fine even if the forms are not visible. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Infopath form and forms library error

I've created an InfoPath 2010 form and associated it with a forms library on a SharePoint site. When I go to the library and choose "Add document" the form opens up to be filled out by the user. When the form is filled out, and the user tries to submit, they get an error saying that I need to configure SharePoint to allow cross-domain data access for user form templates that use connection settings in a data connection file and store a UDC file in the same site collection as the form. So I've enabled cross-domain data access and I've already created a Data Collection Library for Forms in the Site that is approved. What am I missing?  Why am I still getting the error?

Using Workflow to create an InfoPath item in a Forms Library

Hi Experts: Here is my situation: I have a MOSS 2007 server with list A (regular sharepoint list) and List B (InfoPath form library with a published form) This is what I am trying to accomplish using SharePoint Designer: List A is just a basic list User changes a column in list A to a specific value A new form needs to be added to the forms library B SharePoint designer Workflow will not create a valid xml file in the List B forms library. It just creates an invalid file based on the .xsn file template. Does anyone have any experience creating a valid xml form in a forms library using SharePoint Designer workflow? I can't migrate to 2010 so that is not an option. Thanks for all your advise.

InfoPath Forms library in visual studio 2010

If I create a list definition of document library type, and add some new fields to the list.  Is there any way to only allow infopath forms to be submitted to the list?  And also can I change the "add new item" link on the default list to point to my infopath form?

Querying InfoPath forms deployed to a Sharepoint Library

Hello all,

We have a form library that stores a form with information for each database we host for our clients. Each database we host has an associated form with information such as:

Database Owner
Application Supported
Backup Location
Security Requirements
And so on...

I was asked to put the form together back a couple months back so we could inventory our databases.

It works, the library now has over 30 forms.

Now I'm being asked to transfer these records from the infopath forms/libray into a database table so we can report from.

I have no clue if I can connect to these forms and pull data from them, do you guys know?

I would like to loop through this library and pull the data from each form into a SQL table, is this doable?

Let me know if you guys can help.

Best regards,

Submitting Infopath forms to a Sharepoint Library - how can I generate a unique name for each record

I have published an Infopath form to a Sharepoint Library. What is the best way to ensure the following:

1. have a name per saved form (I do have a name field which has a set certain amount of available names in it which I am currently using as the form name - coming from an XML file)
2. users can edit already submitted forms without changing the name of the saved form
3. Ensure that users who may create a new form which happens to have more or less the same data as a previously saved form don't end up overwriting the existing one and hence I end up loosing saved data?

Using the name field + allow overwrite will allow me to have a unique name for the form and allow it to be overwritten but if I create a new form with the same name and maybe just a few small differences I will overwrite the existing form which is what I don't want - someone may not realise that an existing form with the relevant information already exists and we could loose already saved information

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

InfoPath SP 2010 multiple web forms in the same library.

I am looking to create a document library with multiple InfoPath forms that are fillable using the web interface.  I don't need the forms to be saved and would just like them to have the submit button which will then fire workflows and send emails, etc...

I have used the Form Library, and I enabled multiple content types and saved each form as a new content type then granted users only view permissions it and it sort of work how I want but they have to use the New Document ribbon.  I would like the to just have a list of Forms in a Doc Library that when the click on them they open in the web and only allow the user to click submit.

How do I go about this or do I have to go the Forms Library way with multiple contenet types?

Can't relink infopath forms to a new template in the form library

I have an InfoPath form that has been working fine.  I made a change to the form, turned off printing and republished the form.  I then relinked all forms, or thought I did.  The new forms created work fine.  Most of the ones at the beginning are relinked and working fine.  There are about 228 forms in the middle that won't relink and you can't update them.  If I try to update the properties, it has an invalid link.  If I edit the form and submit it back with the changes, I get the following error message box, but only if I actualy make a change on the form and try to save it.

InfoPath cannot save the form
The specified location is not valid, not available, or you do not have the correct permissions
Check the spelling of the file name and verigy that the location is correct, or contact the server administrator.

Is there another way that I can force the relink?  There is also a field that does no populate in the properties.  It won't let me add that metadata.  I have a designer workflow that takes the ID created for a document/item and copies it to the field.  This is then used to create the unique name of the document.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

InfoPath Forms not saving back to the document library they were opened from

I have some occurances through out the office where some people have gone to save a form that was generated from SharePoint and the "Save" dialog takes them to the local "Documents" folder instead of the SharePoint library where it comes from. This causes the person to save the form locally and upload at a later date.

The bit that makes it hard to test is that its not on every machine.

Any ideas to what is causing this would be much appreciated

Building InfoPath forms against Sharepoint 2010 Data Connection Library and Form Services...

Hi Sharepoint Experrts,

I'm trying to develop InfoPath 2010 forms that use External Lists that have been created in Sharepoint Server 2010.  I have problems when testing the forms because access is denied to the external lists.

When I try deploying the forms to the sharepoint site, I cannot upload the form template because it says I have to be a member of the local administrators group.  However, I'm running the administrator account used to install and setup sharepoint on the Windows 7 development machine I'm using.

I also tried loading the InfoPath Data Connections to a data connection library on my Sharepoint site... I can see the files when I login to the site but when I try creating a New form from a Data Connection File, I get an error message "This location does not contain any data connection files with the appropriate settings".  What ARE the appropriate settings?

I'm just really confused about this because I cannot seem to be able to build forms that use data connection files loaded onto a Sharepoint site or central server....

I appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks, KBW

Programmatically submit Infopath Forms to the Sharepoint Library from client computer

Hello. I have a task to programmatically sumbit/update/delete infopath forms (from .NET console application) to Sharepoint server 2007. The application must work from client computers (without Sharepoint installed). Therefore I've decided to use Sharepoint web services (Lists.asmx), but after some time of investigation I've figured out that I can't work with Forms Library via Lists.asmx service. Please, advice me the most optimal solution. Some choices that I see:

- use some another web service to work with "Forms Library"

- use "List" (instead of "Forms Library") on Sharepoint (am I right, that I can submit/update/delete forms as file attachments? Am I right that this could be achieved with UpdateListItems/AddAttachment methods of Lists service?)

- implement a server and client applications to use Sharepoint Object Model on server side

Please, advice me the right solution. Thank you.

InfoPath forms library search returns no result on some records but not others

I have an Infopath forms library with about 500 forms in it.  When I search on the forms lbrary or the site that it's in, for the surname on the form (which is also promoted out as a column on the forms library) then I can find some forms, but not others.  The results are consistent.  So if I search for the name "Smith" I can find Smith's form, but if I search for "Jones" it always returns no results.  I have tried running a full crawl again, and also verified in the crawl log for the URL of the individual XML files for the forms for both "Smith" and "Jones".  Both forms are logged as being crawled successfully.  I am a site collection administrator and I can open both the forms and look at them.  The forms library has major versioning turned on and no content approval.

Any ideas on what might ber wrong?  Can anyone point me where to look?  We have one server for indexing and a separate one for queries (that also has Central Admin), plus two front end web servers.

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.

Search does not find text in Word document stored in document library on a Report Center site within

We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for zebra. We received no results.

We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.

Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?
