Project dependency / reference and 3rd party dlls missing

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
hi,i'm having the same problem in multiple solutions and i asked for help in a couple of "forums" already.... here is an easy explaination about my problem.we have 3 projects:Project "A" - a web applicationproject "B" - class libraryproject "C" - class libraryProject C holds a reference to a 3rd party dll. let's say thirdparty.dll. the 3rd party dll is referenced in the C.csproj file with a relative path and private = true (copy local = true): <Reference Include="ThirdPartysNameSpace.BlaBla, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0912345678910123, processorArchitecture=MSIL"> <SpecificVersion>False</SpecificVersion> <HintPath>..\_tools\thirdparty.dll</HintPath> <Private>True</Private> </Reference> Project B holds a project to project reference to Project C.Project A holds a project to project reference to Project B.when i compile project C the thirdparty.dll is copied to its bin directory. C's bin directory contains C.dll and thirdparty.dll - correct so far.however when i then compile project B the thirdparty.dll isn't copied to project B's bin directory! B's bin only contains C.dll and B.dll. why isn't project C's bin content copied to B's bin?(sure thirdparty.dll is also missing in project A's bin directory.

Error on VS 2008 Class Library project: are you missing an assembly reference?)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb153523(office.12).aspx Working with ASP.NET 2.0 Web Parts and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Based on the above MSDN Walkthrough, I created a Class Library VS 2008 project. Hi; I'm new to WPF and I was going through the ExpenseIt tutorial on MSDN's website. The tutorial was working fine until I added DataGrid. I got the error message: "The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built."     I could not find a clear answer online of which assembly references to fix and how to fix them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!     Note: I'm running the following: Windows Vista 32-bit operating system Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1

WPF Project has events gone missing but are there

While the title may be a little hard to understand, I have suddenly a problem with a WPF project.  It has several libraries and a mainapp.  In one of the libraries are a set of usercontrols.  Those controls are hosted in the main app. One of the controls has lost its events.  I needed to add a new event to a usercontrol and this happened with no problem.  I then built the project, again no problem.  Now I go to the XAML and attempt to add a handler for the event.  Intellisence is there with the name, the editor creates the event name the "=" and the surrounding quotes for the name but then makes the eventname underlined in blue.  At that point the editor does not want to deal with it. Now the event had no arguments so I changed the arguments to the sender etc pattern.  Now the XAML editor will not put the blue line but it will not allow me to create the handler in XAML. Ok so I go to the code editor and voila I can add the handler there.  Has anyone else seen this weird behaviour?? Thanks Lloyd Sheen

Missing Custom Control Library Project Template in Visual C# 2010 Express?

I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express Version 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel and I want to add a Project for a WPF Custom Controls library. Note: The WPF Custom Control Item Template is included and can be added to a WPF Application project.

Does anyone know:

  1. Should the WPF Custom Control Library Template be part of this application edition?
  2. Where is the online documentation that states exactly which features are and are not included in each edition?
  3. What can be recomended as a work around?

could not get dependencies for project reference

I had my solution all good before I tidy up my class library projects.

Since then I keep getting "could not get dependencies for project reference 'project.dll' " everytime i compiled my website.

I read on the web, that it could be a namespace problem. I've fixed all my namespaces and the problem still exists.

Does anyone has any suggestio how to solve this issue ?

Thank you for your help,

Missing "Include Content" checkbox when creating Project Workspace template.

I'm trying to use an existing project workspace to create a custom template. This workspace includes standard content that I'd like to include in the template for use in future project workspaces. However, when I go to "Save site as template" I don't get the option to "Include Content" like I see when creating a template for a site or sub-site. Any clue why I can't include content for a project workspace template? MOSS 2007.

WCF RIA Services Project Templates Missing

When I start a new project and select Silverlight as the type of project that I want to create, the WCF RIA Services Templates are not there (Silverlight Business Application, WCF Class Library).  They were there before I installed the Silverlight Developer Toolkit.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the RIA Services Tools but to no avail.  I would like to have these templates back.

I'm attempting to install this set of silverlight developer tools for Visual Studio 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=b3deb194-ca86-4fb6-a716-b67c2604a139

In the directories where the VS 2010 templates are stored, the RIA Services templates are not there.

\%Program Files%\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Silverlight\1033

\%Program Files%\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\Silverlight\1033

When running my Windows Forms project in the debugger using F5 it uses the assembly version in the GAC in stead of the actual project referenced, thus ignoring the changes I make to my reference project.

If I remove the assembly from the GAC it works, but I woul like to be able to develop and test my assembly withoud having to remove my installed version first every time.

What is the best way to achieve this? Giving my reference project a defferent version number for instance?

Is this behaviour considered a bug that will be patched any time soon?

Visual Studio Project and Item Templates are missing

I am using Windows 7 Professional and I have VS 2008 and 2010 installed in my machine. Project and Item templates are missing in VS 2008 but it is available in VS 2010. only MS .net 4.0 is installed in my machine. I read that, .Net 3.5 would come as an OS component in Windows 7. I tried executing  devenv /installvstemplates in visual studio command prompt. But VS command prompt is not present under VS 2008-> VS Tools. It is present under VS 2010. Also I noticed that only 5 compressed files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp\1033 folder. I think, I need rest of the files to see the templates. But I am not sure from where I can get those files. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance,

Compile error when trying to use license.licx from 3rd party for a project using 4.0 runtime while t

I ran into a compile issue stating Error: "Mixed mode assembly is built against version of runtime v1.1.4322 and cannot be loaded in 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information" for a License.licx file from a 3rd party component included inside my Project I wanted to update to .Net 4.0

The problem was not in the license.licx file or the assembly, but lc.exe included with Visual Studio 2010 C:\<ProgramFilesFolder>\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\lc.exe

This is the exe that processes the license.licx file when compiling the project.

I needed to add support inside a config file in order resolve this error. So I created  a new lc.exe.config inside notepad and added this information then copied it to the same directory as the exe and now my license can be checked appropriately and my projcet can now use the .Net 4.0 Framework.
