Application to Constantly query Table Values and Refresh with most recent value

Hello, I must apologize in advance because I am not sure if this is the correct place for this question. I am looking for ideas on how to build an application that in the most basic sense contains a field with the most current data from a table in a SQL Server database (this would be based off of a datetime timestamp in the table). I am new to this kind of problem and am unsure where to start looking for solution ideas. The table value updates variably and could possibly update every second to every hour. I would like to design an application that would be lightweight to both the server and the user's machine. This would take the place of an unneeded report on my Reporting Services server. Any and all suggestions would be welcome because I am not sure of options I even have on this. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration, Matt

InfoPath Repeating Table - Force new row entry

Hi,Wondering if anyone has had a similar situation.. I have an InfoPath form with a repeating table. When the user completes a row and saves the doc, I want this to be non-editable, so any subsequent changes have to be added as new row. Seems simple enough, but maybe it's just been a long day.. :) Any suggestions? Thanks,Laura

Prevent duplicate entry into aspnet_profile table through CreateUserWizard?

Is it possible to setup the CreateUserWizard to check for a duplicate entry in the aspnet_profile table (for a custom field) before the new user is created?  For example, if I added a phone number field and wanted to make sure nobody else could create an account using that same phone number if a user already has an account with that phone number in the aspnet_Profile table's PropertyValuesString row?

Most Recent records from one of the table among the tables in multiple joins.

Hi All

I have a single select query with multiple table joins in it.

I want to retrieve the Most Recent records from one of the table among the tables in multiple joins.

EXAMPLE:

(select t1.col1, t2.col2 , t3.col3, t4.col4, t4.Add_Date,t5.col5,

from dbo.table1 t1

left outer join dbo.table2 t2 on t1.col1=t2.col2

left outer join

(select col3 from dbo.table3 where condition1="expr") as t3

on t1.col1=t3.col3

left outer join dbo.table4 t4 on t1.col1=t4.col4 order by t4.Add_Date

left outer join dbo.table5 t5 on t1.col1=t5.col5 )

Problem is that, I am not able to use the "Order by" for a particular table.

Thanks

reportid = 9 and (CreatedOn BETWEEN '07/01/2010' AND '09/30/2010')
group by  createdon
order by createdon desc

return data like

2010-09-21 09:36:46.493    112
2010-09-21 08:33:12.667    114

2010-09-17 10:04:27.120    75
2010-09-16 11:50:05.777    52

What I am looking for

2010-09-21 09:36:46.493    112
2010-09-17 10:04:27.120    75
2010-09-16 11:50:05.777    52

Basically for 9/21, I want to get only one latest row. Please advice.

How do I create a query that joins two tables and returns a single entry with the most recent update

Say I have the following two tables (Purchase & Customer).

CustomerID StoreName PurchaseDate
1 Asheville 9/14/2010 15:49

How can I check (true/false) if every single entry in table exists in other table?

Hi

I have 2 tables:

- Salesmen with Pk.SalesmenID
- Appointments with Fk.SalesmenID and busy(bit)

How can I check if every salesmen has at least one appointment

Am I on the right way with statement below, though I got syntax problems

If
(SELECT COUNT(distinct SalesmanID)FROM Appointments)
=
(SELECT COUNT(SalesmanID) FROM Salesmen)

Compare if every table entry exist at least once in other table

Hi

I have 2 tables:

- Salesmen with Pk.SalesmenID
- Appointments with Fk.SalesmenID and busy(bit)

I want to query:

If
(Every salesmen has at least one appointment)
Then
(Select non busy salesmen)
Else
(select * from salesmen)

Should I compare distinct counts of both tables?

Purpose is to get salesmens even if there's no appointment made yet. I hope it's somehow logic what I'm trying to explain here :-)

In Sharepoint, I'm trying to replace list items duplicates with most recent entry

Hi I have a Sharepoint workflow that moves outdated items to a separate archived list.  When a new item is created in the archive list, i'd like the worklfow to find duplicate items based on 2 matching fields (Project Name and Reporting Cycle) and replace the older item with the new.

Can this be done in SPD?

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

Insert value using Table Value Functions

a real gem in Sql Server 2008. mostly people still using Stored procedure may be they shifted to SQL Server but they are not using TVF right now.

Using jQuery to Filter Table Rows

The project is using the .net GridView control, so I had limited control over the output HTML code. Still, I think this code can work for most tables. One thing to notice: you should use the class "filterable" on your table or on one of its parents for the code to work.
First, we need a text box:

RadioButton Groups, Table Rows And NamingContainers in asp.net

The RadioButtonList. Very handy for inviting users to select just one item from a list although because of the screen real estate it takes up, used less and less in favour of the DropDownList. In plain HTML, the browser knows to enforce the unique selected value amongst a list of radio buttons because they all have the same value for their name attributes.

RadioButton Groups, Table Rows And NamingContainers

(In which AJAX-enhanced CheckBoxes become more useful than RadioButtons but inheritance saves the day, and a simple RadioButton-derived control establishes the purpose of a control's naming container)

Building a 3-Tier App with Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Azure Table Storage

Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Windows Azure Services Platform makes a 3-tier Cloud application easier to build: Silverlight 3 as presentation tier, .NET RIA services as the business logic and data access tier, and Windows Azure Table as the data storage tier. The sample application in this article demonstrates the architecture with a simple Survey application with all these technologies working together from Windows Azure.

Temporary tables in SQL Server vs. table variables

When writing T-SQL code, you often need a table in which to store data temporarily when it comes time to execute that code. You have four table options: normal tables, local temporary tables, global temporary tables and table variables. I'll discuss the differences between using temporary tables in SQL Server versus table variables.

Import XML File to SQL Table

Here is a brief example of importing an XML file into SQL Server table. This is accomplished by using the BULK option of OPENROWSET to load the file, and then utilizing the XQuery capabilities of SQL Server to parse the XML to normalized table format. This example requires SQL server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.

First, the following XML is saved to XML file C:\Products.xml.
