Age-standardized rate

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

hi We'd like to calculate cancer age-standardized rate (ASR) from a fact table with patient-level granularity. The fact table looks like this: PatientID     Age ---------------------- 001           30 002           45 003           50 ... From this we've built a cube with [Age Group] dimension having 5-year age groups as members (0-4, 5-9, 10-14, etc...) The rate of cancer, standardized to World Standard age distribution, is calculated as follows (sample only): << Sorry, originally put this in a table; can't quite get the format to stay put >> Age Group: 0-49 ------------------------ Number of cancer patients:  10 -- Local population:  5,000 -- World Standard: 30,000 ASR = (10/5,000) * 30,000   =  60 Age Group: 50-80 ------------------------ Number of cancer patients:  25 -- Local population:  10,000 -- World Standard: 50,000 ASR = (25/10,000) * 50,000   =  125 Age Group: 80+ ------------------------ Number of cancer patients:  10 -- Local population:  10,000 -- World Standard: 20,000 ASR = (10/10,000) * 20,000   =  20 Total ASR ------------------------ 60 + 125 + 20 = 205 So ASR is really just a weighted average with the ratio between World and Local populati

!!How can I create an increasing rate column

Here's the situation. Now I have a month group and a year group. And if I choose 2009 and 2010 two years, it will be like this: Month                  1                        2                          3                             4 Year            2009 | 2010         2009 | 2010           2009 | 2010             2009 | 2010 Count          ....    | .....           ........ I want to add a rate column after each month, and display the increasing rate  like :sum(count) on 2010.1/sum(count) on 2009.1+sum(count) on 2010.1 So how can I do this? Thanks!

Resizing Images using GetThumbnailImage, Bad Compression Rate

Hey,

 I am using the following code to resize an image from original size

    protected void resizeImage(String fileName, String imagePath, int resizeWidth, int resizeHeight)
    {
        // Load Original Image
        System.Drawing.Image originalImage;
        originalImage = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(strImageFolder + "original\\" + fileName);

        // Get Original Image Dimensions
        int originalHeight = originalImage.Height;
        int originalWidth = originalImage.Width;

        // Set new Image dimensions
        int newWidth = resizeWidth;
        int newHeight = (newWidth * originalHeight) / originalWidth;

        // Creates new resized image
        System.Drawing.Image resizedImage;
        resizedImage = originalImage.GetThumbnailImage(newWidth, newHeight, new System.Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImageAbort(ThumbnailCallback), IntPtr.Zero);
        resizedImage.Save(imagePath + fileName);

Bit Rate Throttling crashes my SP2010 web app

I've recently been trying to get the Bit Rate Throttling IIS.NET module to work with my SharePoint 2010 web application. It was working briefly for me in the past, but I've tried enabling it in three different environments recently and in each case the w3wp process for the SharePoint 2010 web application crashes as soon as I hit a page. It will serve a page or two once the w3wp starts up and then it will crash again. I've seen this problem mentioned on the IIS.NET forums but I've not seen any possible solutions. I'm posting the issue here since this could be an issue specific to SharePoint 2010 web applications.

This is a WCM site with Output, Object and BLOB caching all enabled. Note that the problem occurs before I access any content that would be throttled by the module. These are the tests I've run:

Test 1: BLOB Cache off, Bit Rate Throttling installed but disabled
Works fine.

Test 2: BLOB Cache on, Bit Rate Throttling installed but disabled
Works fine.

Test 3: BLOB Cache on, Bit Rate Throttling installed and enabled

IsIndeterminate flash rate

I've just started working with WPF coming from a big background in Windows Forms. I am trying to replicate a UI in WPF that I originally wrote in WF to learn WPF better. I have a progress bar that I have set IsIndeterminate="true" to use as an indicator that the application is working on something. I would like to increase the frequency that the progress bar does it's animation so that it happens more often. Is this possible with the default progress bar control, or do I need to create my own?

Image processing at High Frame Rate.

Hi all,

I am working on an application which performs stamping of HD images at very high frame rate.

AFAIK GDI is the best, but i heard WPF uses Hardware acceleration.

To make it faster which technology will be better ?

GDI / GDI+ / WPF ?

Thanks in Advance..

USB Serial Port, baude rate limited by Overrun errors

Hi,

I need to dump a huge number of characters per second to a PC from a simple micro controlled device rs232 port at the least for debugging purposes.

I can select and sucesfully transmit/receive at speeds up to 3M baud without significant data coruption on short packets, however for sustained data I get too many overrun errors for it to be usefull, even at 230K buad it is too much.

I am using a usb serial cable, on windows 7 (64) on an I7 system, so it should have plenty of cpu power to keep up. it only needs to service it twice per millisecond at 230kBaud to keep up.

I am programming with C# and have 3 threads, one for the UI, one for the port, and one for decoding the data.

I have a large data buffer, and I am calling read fast enough so that I get about 100 characters on average, the SerialPort object port buffer is set to "very big" (64k), with byte threshold set to 100, setting it to 1 makes no difference.

The 16 byte Fifo on the usb serial cable is set to 1, but this makes little diference.

From what I have read it is the device driver not reading the usb port fast enough, and the usb serial cable "chip" runs out of buffer.

I have tried different usb serial cables, but they have the same 16 byte buffer and the same problem.

Is there any way I can speed this up ? I would of th

How fast can you change baud rate on a serial port.

Hello to anybody,

I've got a piece of hardware I wan't to communicate with over a serial port and I'm wanting to change baud rate on a serial port within 10 ms.  I close the port, change baud rate and then open the port agian, but this doesn't seem to work to well.  How can I really tell if the serial port has made the change, how long is this likely to take? Is changing the baud rate in 10 ms impossible?

Any answers would be appreisated, thanks.
