Hello All, Was hoping for assistance in detemining why this error is occuring... I have an SSIS package using an "Execute Process" task that calls an external VB program.  The VB program reads XML to connect and download Oracle data but fails with the above message... This is captured in SSIS logging: -1073573551 0x In Executing "K:\BillingSystemLoad\BillingSystemLoad.exe" "K:\BillingSystemLoad\Daily\WOM_OCR_ORDER_COMP_Daily.xml" at "", The process exit code was "9879465" while the expected was "0".  Can anyone tell me where to researh the datacode -1073573551 number or point me in the direction to resolve? Thanks for any help, Curtis

Process must exit before requested information can be determined...

Hello All!

I wrote the following lines of code within the even handler for a Process_Exited event. The really weird thing is that on the fifth line I get the error "Process must exit before requested informaiton can be determined. (When trying to access the Exit Time & Exit Code)

            Private Sub AssociatedProcess_Exited(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AssociatedProcess.Exited
                Do Until AssociatedProcess.HasExited = True
                    AssociatedProcess.WaitForExit()
                Loop
                'The process has exited.
                SpinAnimation.Stop()
                Console.CursorLeft = 0
                Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}. Exit Code: {2} ({3})" & vbCrLf, _
                                  Date.Now, AssociatedProcess.StartInfo.FileName, AssociatedProcess.ExitCode, If(AssociatedProcess.ExitCode = 0, "Success", "Fail"))

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I cant make sense of it.

SQL Express 2008 R2 failed to install: Exit error code: 17115

I'm trying to install SQL Server Express 2008 R2, but I keep getting errors.  I've probably tried 10 to 15 times over the last weeks, always trying something different.  Yes, I'm learning to read the logs, the summary.txt provided below.  The last two times I've noticed that the exit code, exit facility code, and error code are the same in this log.  I tried following one post that had these codes and had long/detailed procedure on how to remove SQL manually, especially traces from the registry.  It didn't solve my problem.  I get no errors on removal, everything removes successfully.  So what to do?  Thanks for your help.  --Ralph

However to this user I did not give administrator priv on windows. Is it needed? I get the following error. Please help.

How to run code in a separate process

I am not sure exactly which topic this post should go under...

Here is what I am doing.

I have a web form where a person will edit their blog article. At some point, once they are done editing, they can click a button "Publish Blog Now".

Once the blog is published in the click event on the server side I am doing a query to get a list of subscriber email address.

These are people who subscribed to this blogger and wish to receive an email notification whenever this person publishes a new blog.

What I just realized today is that my hosting provider only allows me to send a maximum of 200 emails per hour. Which means in my loop I need to sleep for roughly 20 seconds between each email notification sent. But I dont want the user who clicked the publish button to have to sit there and wait while that process is going.

How can I return to the user but yet continue to run some code on the server side to send out the emails in the background even if user closes web browser?

This is an ASP.NET web application targeting .net 4.0 and I am using c# as my back-end language and VS2010 as my development tool.

Thanks

Wayne

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

ASP.NET Architecture - ASP.NET Worker Process - HTTP Pipleline - Http Modules and Handlers

"ASP.NET is a powerful platform for building Web applications, that provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and power for building just about any kind of Web application. Most people are familiar only with the high level frameworks like WebForms and WebServices which sit at the very top level of the ASP.NET hierarchy. In this article I'll describe the lower level aspects of ASP.NET and explain how requests move from Web Server to the ASP.NET runtime and then through the ASP.NET Http Pipeline to process requests.

Microsoft StyleCop: Source Code Analyzer for C#

StyleCop is similar in many ways to Microsoft Code Analysis (specifically FxCop), but there are some important distinctions. FxCop performs its analysis on compiled binaries, while StyleCop analyzes the source code directly. For this reason, FxCop focuses more on the design of the code, while StyleCop focuses on layout, readability and documentation. Most of that information is stripped away during the compilation process, and thus cannot be analyzed by FxCop.
