Mark columns as Identity in multi-table views?

Hello! When you create a view of one table (i.e. SELECT * FROM Table), it marks the table's identity column as an identity col in the view as well. I have a few that selects columns from several nested tables, but they are all related in a main identity column I select as well, but SQL Server doesn't mark this column as identity, is there a way to do it?Shimmy

Tab panels causing undesirable mark-up reformatting

I am using VS 2010 and making extensive use of tab panels with gridviews inside of each.  I very often am required to reformat the whole document as it seems that the gridview mark-up gets completely reformatted in one continuous line.  In the act of reformatting unwanted things get inserted such as linebreaks. When I was using VS 2008 this behavior was even worse.  Does anyone have a suggestion to fixing this issue?  I am wasting time because things are changing visually and tested work is getting automatically changed.

Problem with quotation mark that is not resolved using \"

Hi everyone,

I have an aspx page that conatain:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="dsName" runat="server"

ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:myConnectionString %>

SelectCommand="SELECT t1.ID, t2.desc FROM table1 t1 JOIN \"10.10.10.10\".dbname.schemaName.table2 t2 ON t1.ID = t2.ID">

I can already see in visual studio that the quotation mark are not reacting as they should.

and when trying to run it I get: "The server tag is not well formed."

If I remove the \" from the string or try to replace " with '  I get incorrect syntax for the sql query.

How can i use place quotation mark in that string?

Can someone please review my code and see where I can be missing information. I get the following error:

Unclosed quotation mark after the character string '

insert into quality_assurance (person_id, last_name) values ('"+id.text+"','"+last_name.text+"')

id.text and last_name.text are fields in our specialized scanning application and that's how you would extract the values in them to pass them into a sql server query.

The challenge now is that when the last_name.text = a name with a single quote, I get the error above "Unclosed quotation mark after the character string ' "

Any ideas?

SSRS 2005 export to csv has question mark in place of sterling currency symbol

Hi,

I've upgraded reports from SSRS 2000 to 2005, and since then when I export to csv I get a question mark wherever there ought to be a sterling currency symbol. The table cell in the report is formatted correctly and when exporting to xls the currency symbol is preserved. One of my users requires the data as csv.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

use question mark in search representing exactly one character - possible?

Hi,

Is there way to use the question mark ? in MS SQL Search Expression? Like so:

SELECT [Name] FROM [dbo].[Users] WHERE [Name] = "M?yers"

The ? stands for exactly 1 character. I tried LIKE

SELECT [Name] FROM [dbo].[Users] WHERE [Name] LIKE "M%yers"

but the % represents 0 or more characters!

Thanx for help,

S.

Unclosed quotation mark after the character string ')

Hey!, I got a little problem in the web shop I am updating.

when a user wants to enter a item (say a city) like 's Hertogenbosch the page gives me the "unclosed quotation mark after character string" error.

Now i have been following multiple options  on the web, but since i am new to the whole asp.net and c# stuff i havent been able to get it to work.

Changing the whole thing to parameters is unfortunately not an option.

I hope anyone can help me with this.

mark countries in map (Google or Bing)

Hi all,

is it possible to use Bing Maps or Google Maps (or any other) and mark countries on a world map? I have some countries in SQL DB depending on the logged in user, e.g. France, Mexico, Australia, Japan. These countries should be mark on a world map. Is this possible?

Many thanks in advance!

Collect Data... how to mark task as completed

I am using the Connect Data workflow action to create a task for a group of people. If one of those people completes the task, I need to somehow prevent others from editing the task and completing it themselves.

Is there a way to show on the "Edit Task" screen that the task has been completed and who completed it? As a basic start I tried adding the "@Editor" value to the screen manually, but it doesn't show up. In a perfect scenario I want something that behaves like the OOB Approval Workflow Tasks: if a task has been completed and another user tries to edit it, a message will pop up on the screen saying "Task completed by...".

I could just make a task read only after it has been completed, but users still try to jump to the "Edit Task" screen directly from their Outlook email notification. They would receive an Access Denied error, which doesn't really make sense. The same problem would happen if I deleted the task entirely: if people click on their "Edit Task" button in Outlook they would go into no-man's land.
