Anonymous access on Excel Viewer web part for a no access .xslx file?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a public facing SharePoint 2010 Enterprise website with anonymous access enabled. I'd like to present information (a pivot chart) from an .xslx file using the Excel Viewer Web Part. It works fine when I place the .xslx file in a document library that the anonymous users can access. I would, however, like to remove anonymous access from the .xslx file and only expose the chart from the .xslx file using the Excel Viewer web part. When I alter the library permissions to remove anonymous access to the library that holds the .xslx file, the Excel Viewer web part displays an "Access Denied" message to the anonymous user. Is there some other way to achieve this?

Choice Filter Web part and Excel Web Access web part

I have a choice filter web part where in I have months like Jan,Feb,Mar etc and a excel web access web part. The choices in the filter web part should determine the URL of the workbook for the excel web access web part. In the filter web part I gave the choices as Jan;http://sitename:port/ExcelList/MyExcel.xlsx where "ExcelList" is the library that stores the excel files for each of the months. But the excel web part always says that "The file selected couldnt not be found". Is it possible for me to know the actual URL getting passed to the excel web access web part? Pl suggest if there is a better way to do this. Cutloo

Anonymous access - User prompted for login after click in web part area

I have a MOSS2010 site, internet-facing using anonymous access. I've found workarounds to many of the anonymous access issues I've come across, but I don't know how to fix this one. Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated. A user visits one of my pages with a OOB webpart. If they click within the area for that web part, essentially selecting the web part, it prompts for a login. I don't want my users getting prompted for a login, but I don't know why they're being prompted in the first place. According to the logs, it looks like it is trying to access _layouts/wpribbon.aspx. They aren't clicking on the items (titles aren't clickable), it's the area within the web part box. Can I make that area non-clickable?? Go to: www.carlile.biz/careers/pages/current-openings.aspx Click on the area around the Locations or the Current Openings listed. Either will prompt for a login. Even with a valid login, the view does not change and no further options are presented.

Custom Web Part doesn't work with in anonymous access

Hi there, I have a custom webpart in a farm solution deployed to my site. Anonymous users should be able to view the site, however they can't because they are required to login due to the custom web part. If i remove the webpart from the page, anonymous users can view the site perfectly without the need to login. There is nothing really special about the webpart. It's a visual web part which uses the site and it's web data to display a sort of menu. Any idea? Thx in advance! Brecht

Microsoft Excel cannot access the file

I am trying to import an excel content to a SharePoint list. When I choose an excel file and import I am saving the file Using "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" object to the temporary folder location and reading it from there. When I try opening a file using "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application.Workbooks.Open" I am getting the following error.

Microsoft Excel cannot access the file "TEMP" folder. There are several possible reasons:

• The file name or path does not exist.
• The file is being used by another program.
• The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

I have tried impersonating the INTERACTIVE USER account. But this looks like the excel object doesn't have permission. Please share your inputs on this issue.

Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ProjectWebSite\Files\ROUTINE_MCA.

Hello everybody.

I am in a critical situation. I first tried to make a project (file->new->project) using visual studio, where I displayed the content of a excel file by GridView. I was successful then, but when I attach it to my website located in inetpub I am getting this error :

Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ProjectWebSite\Files\ROUTINE_MCA.xlsx'. There are several possible reasons:

. The file name or path does not exist.
. The file is being used by another program.
. The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

At first I faced some COM related problem and found solution in Google, but this particular problem is not solving. Is there any way to access Excel document in asp.net website?

In my application there is a facility of uploading excel document to the server and then display its content. But I have failed to do this display operation, is there any turn around way, like store the excel document as dataset and then access it as required.

Please help. I am in great trouble. Thanks in advance.

Inconvenient SharePoint 2010 Content Query Web Part and Anonymous Access

Morning every one

I am hoping some one has found a work around regarding this.

I am using a JQuery random 'quote' generator (http://nextconnect.blogspot.com/2009/12/jquery-random-quote-viewer.html) in my site.I have enabled full anonymous access. My issue is that it still prompts you for the login in order to see the quote generator. I have tried the "ViewFormPagesLockDown" fix but it isn't even activated on my site. And now I am at a complete loss. I did some googling (Read 5 hours) and it seems that in Sharepoint 2010 doesn't have a work around for this and I am really hoping I am wrong.

Any ideas?

Have a great friday :)

download ms access table to an excel file

Is there a way to give users the capability to download an on-line table produced via gridview to an excel file (other than by copy/paste)?

Direct Link to a Sharepoint 2010 file from Access, Excel, etc

Hi...our organization is upgrading to sharepoint 2010 from an earlier version.  In the earlier version, it was very easy to link to a document in a sharepoint library, from MS Access or Excel.  But now, on 2010 version, simply linking to the URL of the document no longer works.  It's like the file does not really exist in the location noted if you grab a shortcut URL.

Does anyone have any idea how we can continue to link to sharepoint 2010 documents, so all of our nicely linked access and excel processes continue to work

Hopefully I am making sense?

Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file

Hi All,

I'm having difficulty opening microsoft office files  in this case Excel on a Sharepoint 2007 site when using IE 6.  Here are the errors I get:

Excel:  Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file
'https://<var>server_name</var> SPSsite/documents/<var>file_name</var> .xls'. There are several possible reasons:
The file name or path does not exist.
The file being used by another program.
The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

Here are some additional details:

OS = Vista
IE = Version 6

Please help me :)

Deny anonymous access for single .aspx file

I have a folder called /Error in the root directory for an ASP.Net site.  The site is completely public, so there is no authentication of users.  Inside the Error folder, I have a file called errorlog.aspx, where I log unhandled exceptions.  I don't want the public to be able to view this file.  I created a web.config file inside the Error folder.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
	<location path="errorlog.aspx">
				<deny users="?"/>

However, I'm still able to view errorlog.aspx by typing the URL into the browser.  What am I missing?

Anonymous Access - Web Part Pages with Web Part Connections

Basically, I have a SharePoint Foundation site I'm building out with lots of lists and libraries being related with lookup columns and metadata.  After getting everything setup and all my items associated with the proper metadata, I created a web part page.  On this page, I put each of my associated lists/libraries with special views to optimize screen usage.  Lastly, I connected them all with web part connections - they all are filtered by the main web part.  The filter works wonderfully, and I can browse to it with an authenticated user, but anonymous users get a Windows prompt every time.

- On the web app, I have no policy set for Anonymous Users, and Anonymous Access ie enabled
- On the Site Collection, Anonymous Users allowed to see the "Entire Web Site"
- On the Site Pages library, Anonymous Users have the "View Items" permission
- On every page, list, and library in the site, Anonymous users have access and can see data except my one page with web part connections
- In the Site Pages library, Anonymous Users can see the page shown as a file
- If I remove all web part connections, then the Anonymous User no longer gets prompted and can see the page

Here is the version of the page without web part connections:

Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??
