When i export a list in excel 2007, it creates two extra columns named as type and path. At the same time this behaviour is not exhibited in office 2000. Is there any way to remove these two columns without using code ? Is there any configuration settings required for this, to remove it on the fly ? Thanks Ravish Verma

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Document Library "export to spreadsheet" doesn't export all columns in Excel 2003

Hi, we are working with MOSS 2007, Infopath Forms Services, KPIs and Excel 2003. There is a view for some data of the Infopath forms which has to be exported to Excel by our users, but some columns are not exported - without any error message. If I try to export it to Excel 2007 everything is exported as expected, but our users have to use Excel 2003. Any idea?

Excel spreadsheet properties push to sharepoint library columns

Hope this is the right forum; if not, please direct me to the right one.

In Excel 2007 I am filling in a document property programmatically in an Excel 2003 spreadsheet, and creating/filling a custom one.  Just FYI, I use the following VBA code:

    ActiveWorkbook.BuiltinDocumentProperties("Company") = "TEST COMPANY NAME"
ActiveWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties.Add "Manager's Name", False, msoPropertyTypeString, "TEST MANAGER NAME"

Then I save the document to a SharePoint library.  Right now it is saved as a 2003 version spreadsheet (.xls).  There are a Company column and a Manager's Name column in the SharePoint library, and Microsoft's online documentation says the properties should populate the corresponding columns in the library.  But they don't!

That's my problem--getting them to populate.  Incidentally, thinking that the spreadsheet version was the problem, I have tried saving these documents both as 2003 spreadsheets and 2007 spreadsheets in my code, but the SharePoint columns never populate either way.  The only way I can do it is by manually filling in the document property from the UI.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, either in Excel or SharePoint or somewhere in between, to cause this?  Is there a non-code solution to the problem?  I can do some C# code if I h

Importing Excel 2007 spreadsheet into WSS 3.0 -- Error Message

I'm trying to import (Custom Lists >> Import Spreadsheet) into WSS 3.0 and I'm getting the following message:

Refers to the _layouts

You are not authorized to view this page.  You might not have permissions to view this direcotyr or page using the credentials you supplied. [More stuff here.]

Is this just a permissions problem or is there some other underlying issue?  Should you be able to upload an Excel spreadsheet (with links) into a Custom List?

Unable to export/copy documents out of SharePoint 2007 libraries

Hi, A client had an issue a few months ago where their MOSS 2007 home site collection had to be restored after a major crash, it now works but they have loads of issues with the restored site(no need to go into) now I am trying to migrate the Data (files and folders only, no security or metadata) to a SharePoint 2010 installation, the problem is that I am unable to get any of the files out of SharePoint. I decided against an upgrade or any form of site migration as I might only be taking the problems with me. i am just trying to copy the files using the "Library - Actions - Open with Windows Explorer". The Explorer view window opens but if i select a file and move it into a folder on the server nothing happens, If I select a folder with files and folders in it then only the root folder is copied over but it is empty.  i don't want to repair any of the issues with the old site as it's only wasting time, can anybody think of a way to get all of the data out of Sharepoint 2007, without taking any of the lists or libraries or any other Sharepoint settings. I only need to keep the folder structure and files within them as i don't need any metadata and am recreating the security again seperately on the new SharePoint setup. Anybody have any ideas or know of free/trial products that i

SharePoint 2007 to Access 2007 - Issues grouping by "Person or Group" field type/column

We are on SharePoint 2007 and using Access 2007.  The SharePoint list contains a column called Assigned Person, column type: Person or Group, single selection, displaying only the name 1) When we Open with Access and Export a copy of the data, then create a report from that table, we do not have the option to group on Assigned Person.  2) When we Open with Access and Link to data on the SharePoint site, then create a report from that list, when we group by Assigned Person... The same person has 2 groups - there are is no other grouping or sorts on the list, and i can't locate a correlation to another field to show why they would have to collections for the same person The Person or Group column sorts "from smallest to largest" as though it is a number field. The list is a task/activity tracking system we created custom for our needs.  We want to pull a weekly report, grouped by Assigned Person, but cannot get access to work.  We do not want to resort to anything more complex, as it takes a much longer process to have reports pulled by Chrystal or one of those types of applications.  And we cannot change out the field for something like a Choice column as the list already has a very large amount of content.  Can anyone assist? Is there a setting hiding somewhere that is causing the problem?

Export Sharepoint Calendar (with Recurring) to Excel

Hi Everyone, I have a user who manages several Sharepoint calendars who likes to export lists and calendars to excel.  Currently when there is a recursive item, it only gets sent out once.  I have set up a list view that shows recurring events, but when exported to excel, it goes back to only showing each instance once. I know that the concern is that it will generate infinite entries, but is there a way to export this to excel showing all of the recurring items?  I have tried many times and looked on the internet with no success.  So far I'm only using the included parts of sharepoint, so I haven't looked into 3rd party software or writing my own code. Any help is appreciated, Thanks! -Casey
