Export to outlook calendar in a custom list?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Howdy, I have a custom list with a calendar view. I think it was originally created as a custom list rather than a straight-out calendar for reasons of functionality. However, obviously this, being only a list, doesn't have the "Export to outlook" or "Connect to outlook" feature. I can't really recreate the list from scratch because it's been used for quite a while with a lot of content and custom fields, so is there a way of adding this feature? Thanks, Clark.

Custom List And Outlook Integration

If I'm synching a task list with Outlook I have the ability to edit it via a task in Outlook and add email (.msg) files as attachments by simply dragging and dropping. Is there any way to have similar functionality for a custom list, and how is it accomplished if so?

Sharepoint Calendar export to Outlook but can only view the Title column

I have created a Calendar in Sharepoint for booking out company vehicles. The fields I have created are: Vehicle (Choice), Driver (User/Group), Start & End Times, Title (text), DisplayField (Calculated text based on Vehicle + Title...... it would be nice to include Driver but it seems Sharepoint cannot handle the User/Group datatype in a calculated field.....but I digress). I use the DisplayField calculated field in my default calendar view in Sharepoint. All is good at this point. When one connects it to Outlook (via the Action menu in Sharepoint) the calendar is added but all the entries show only the Title field. If I double click on an entry, only the title field appears - the Vehicle and Driver values are missing. When I try to create a new entry - only the Title field (plus other default Outlook fields) are available. So: How can one display a value other than Title by default, and how can I display the other columns when looking at the event detail?

Add a New Item to a Custom Sharepoint List and Sharepoint Calendar from one Infopath form.

I am trying to create an infopath form for requesting time off.  Once the request is approved I want the form to add the event to a calendar on sharepoint.  I was able to do this using the article by S.Y.M. Wong-A-Ton at http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-item-sharepoint-calendar-infopath.htm.  But I want the form to also add an item to a custom list that has the employees available time off stored on it.  That way the form can automatically subtract the time entered on the infopath form from what is available on the custom list.  I was able to do this using another article by S.Y.M. Wong-A-Ton at  http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-rich-text-item-sharepoint-list-infopath.htm.  I can make both of these functions happen seperately but I need them to happen on the same Infopath form.  I am using Infopath and MOSS 2007.  I have tried to use 2 CAML receive data files and I treid to co

Custom list export to excel only selected items

Is there any out of box solution to only the selected items to excel? otherwise what would be best way to achieve using coding?

Custom List Calendar Issue

This seems like it should be pretty simple, but I have no idea how to make it work... I've created a custom list which includes a Date field (Date only).  The default view is set to Calendar.  I have set the Time Interval Begin and End dates to my custom date field.  I was expecting that when I click on a day (then New) or a time on the Calendar, that my date field would be populated with the selected date/time that picked... however, it stays blank.  This functionality works with a Calendar list, but not my custom list... How can I fix this?

Unable to connect any list or calendar to Outlook in SP 2010

I am completely unable to use the Connect to Outlook option on any list inside my SharePoint Foundation installation - the button is present, but remains greyed out and non-functional.

I have confirmed the following:

- The server is using AD and is set up correctly

- SMTP is set up for outgoing mail

- All features available have been activated

- There are no restrictions for the creation of local pst files on my system

- I am running Outlook 2010, 64bit

- The user being used is in an owners group for the site collection and the site, but I've also added direct permissions for the user for all possible permission sets

- I am able to use the Excel services, Visio and Project connections, but not Outlook

- I am using a standard, unaltered task list and calendar, neither of which will permit connection

- I am using IE8

Since the button is greyed out, I'm not even able to get an error message that might tell me something additional.

I've been searching for a while, to no avail - what am I missing?

Not able to see any events in outLook calendar which is integrated with WSS 3.0 Calendar List (User

When I click "Actions", "Connect to Outlook" it appears to work and even opens a calendar view.  The calendar is empty though (but the calendar on sharepoint does have entries).  I get the following error message from outlook:

"Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80070005) : 'You do not have permission to view this SharePoint List . Contact the SharePoint site administrator.  HTTP 302.'"

I am able to view the calendar in sharepoint, so I do have permission to view it.

Connect "Project Tasks" List's Calendar View to Outlook

I would like to connect our department's "Project Tasks"-type list to an Outlook calendar (the same way I can do with a "Calendar"-type list).

In Sharepoint, I have a nice "Calendar View" (this is a Sharepoint View/Report using the "Calendar" format) of the "Project Tasks"-type List items showing which items were worked on in the past or are to be worked on in the future.  I would like to Connect this view to Outlook, but it appears this "Project Tasks"-type list does not have the "Connect to Outlook" option in the ACTIONS menu.

I have confirmed that the "Connect to Outlook" option is activated in our "Enable Client Integration" settings per thread ((http://www.eggheadcafe.com/community/aspnet/69/10091824/cannot-see-connect-to-outlook-in-the-actions.aspx).  In fact, if I create a strict "Calendar"-type list (instead of a "Project Tasks"-type list or "Issue Tracking"-type list), I do get the "Connect to Outlook" option in the ACTIONS menu.  I'd li

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Picker returns nothing for BDC column in custom list

Playing with the BDC for the first time, running into some issues adding a Business Data column to a custom list.

I believe my ADF file is solid. I've been able to import that just fine and can use the application to drive various BDC-specific webparts (a Business Data List or Business Data Item, for example). It also seems to work when I manually enter information in my NewForm.aspx field and click the Check Names button (it verifies my entry and underlines it, creates link to profile when I view the list data).

If I try to use the picker, I get nothing. Enter a name I know is valid or a % and click the magnifying glass icon and I very briefly get the "Please Wait" message, then just an empty set with "Type into the search box above then press "Enter" to start your search" where my results should be.

Any pointers? Thanks.

Using Outlook's Calendar with SharePoint

Hey All,

Is it possible to upload from Outlook Calendar to SharePoint, or just using SharePoint Calendar sync with Outlook Calendar to be Read only?

Can anyone recommend a basic howto guide for setting this up?

SharePoint Designer: insert custom list not working anymore

Suddenly sharepoint designer decided today that it doesn't want to insert a custom list form anymore...
To be more specific, it doesn't work anymore in a site that uses the Microsoft budgeting and tracking template. In a website that uses an out of the box template, it still works.

It did work before, because I did it in other websites using the same template (it's broken there as well now).

Why oh why does SharePoint refuse to do this now?
I searched google and here on the forums, but all I could find was some issues after installing SP1, but we did that already long time ago and it was still working after that. I checked with our infrastructure guys and they didn't install new updates they say.

I also tried the solutions listed here: http://blogs.msdn.com/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx
But they don't fix the problem.

So my problem is, I can go to Insert > SharePoint Controls > Custom List Form
I pick my list, content type and form type, I hit OK and... nothing happens.

Need to pass parameters from URL to fields in Custom List

I have a complex customized list and I need to pass parameters of two fields so that when the 'Questionnaire' is completed and subsequentially opened after initial submission, it will retrieve the Number and GUID automatically in respective fields. I send an email out with a link to the 'Form' that carries the parameters. I am trying to use the following javaScript but am unsure as to where to place this on the SharePoint page for it to work.

<script type="text/javascript">

function loadFormVars()
getQuerystring('CustodianGUID', 'ctl00_m_g_d08916d8_7224_4665_be72_2de381f45985_ff46_1'); ///replace
customerGUID and form field name
'ctl00_m_g_d08916d8_7224_4665_be72_2de381f45985_FormField11_ctl00_ctl00_TextField'); ///replace customerGUID
and form field name

alert("it works");

function getQuerystring(key, field)
key = key.replace(/[\[]/,"\\\[").replace(/[\]]/,"\\\]");
var regex = new RegExp("[\\?&]"+key+"=([^&#]*)");
var qs = regex.exec(window.location.href);
document.getElementById(field).value = qs[1];
