Using Web Service from LiveCycle PDF Dynamic Form under ASP.NET.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I have developed Staff Attendance Sheet about 7 years ago using Microsoft Office Web Componenets Data Access Pages (OWC DAP). See image below of the current report using OWC DAP: http://bit.ly/cAfeYs Since we are moving our legacy systems to SAP, this report will have to be re-implemented using Adobe LiveCycle PDF which is connecting to Web Service over SAP Systems (since OWC does not connect to Web Service). The SAP development team have developed the initial webservice which generates the data required for the report. I have developed the initial version of the LiveCycle PDF, which can be downloaded from this link: http://bit.ly/9KBgm0 The following is a screen snapshot of the LC Desinger Form. Here you can see the structure of Webservice Request (Input) and Response (Output): http://bit.ly/cxMK62 When the web service is executed from inside PDF the results looks as follows: http://bit.ly/cacbCg The webservice accepts the following required parameters: 1. Period: YYYYMM. User Specified Value. 2. Staff ID: 9999999. It must be supplied automatcially to the web service and it must be the Windows ID of the User Logged In to Windows Domain. Other parameters are optional. Assumptions: ========== 1. I am not using any Adobe Forms Server Technology. I can use LiveCycle Desinger ES2 and LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server. 2. I can alse develop using .NET to get the Logged

Include a Crystal Report in .NET Web Service for Dynamic In-Memory-Only DataSet

I would like to use Crystal Reports in a .NET web service.  Ultimately I would like to convert my report document to a PDF and then return the PDF as a byte array.

My .NET DataSet is generated dynamically at run-time.  It consists of four related tables.  Since my DataSet does not have a physical datasource, I created an XML Schema file.  I then added the XML Schema file to the web service project with Add Existing Item.

A solution for working with a dynamic in-memory DataSet exists for ASP.NET web sites and client-based forms.  I tried to use this method as it is published.  When that didn't work I tried creating the report and XML Schema directly in the web service project, but that also didn't work.

The problem is apparent when you try to set the datasource.......the code bombs on the call to SetDataSource(DataSet) with the message
ex = {"The data source object is invalid."}

Crystal Reports would save me a lot

Customizing pages with Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Applications?

Hola, It used to be so easy creating new folder under CustomPages with the (Entity/Table name) and copying on it all base default PageTemplates (Details, Insert, Edit, List and ListDetails) and you will get access to those pages only for the specific table (this was the default automatic behavior of the Dynamic Data framework) When it comes to be using Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Applications it seems that we need to learn a new way of doing this because it is just simply different and you got a lot of errors when compiling your application if you do this the old way? What might be the new way, uh? HOW DO WE DO THIS NOW ... I MEAN ... CREATING DEFAULT CUSTOM PAGES FOR SPECIFIC TABLES (Details, Insert, Edit, List and ListDetails) with Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Applications? The problem arises when the definition for your newly created classes is absent from the automatically generated code when you created your domain service !!!!! . If you simply copy the PageTemplates as they are, you got a duplicated error message because the new .designer file (automatically generated) conains the definition of the class you are copying (not the newer one) so even if you rename your .aspx file the result is not what you would normally expect (the .designer class is not regenerated after renaming). The .designer file keeps the domain service definition and if y

What are the Steps Installing Infopath Form Service on WSS 3.0 or do I need to upgrade to MOSS?

I  have configured Extranet Https Portal for our configuration.It includes some custom web-parts features in the site. My WSS 3.0 -Cenrtal Admin version is I have MOSS 2007 - Central Version Now I have designed a Infoapth form and want to publish to a library in the site.We can publish the form to a library but At client side Infopath 2007 sholud be installed in order to submit the form.It is not Browser Enabled. ( You cannot enable InfoPath Forms Services in WSS, because it is not present in WSS. Before you can enable InfoPath Forms Services, you have to install Forms Server or MOSS Enterprise.  It is not Browser enabled.  ) Infopath form services is a component of MOSS not WSS Is there any other way instead of intalling Moss 2007 can I only Install Infoapth Form services on it. Can I upgrade the WSS 3.0 to MOSS 2007 and get the Infoapth form services to the existing site without any loss of data.   I have read that while upgrading wss to moss the central admin version  should be same then only you can upgrade is this true?? what steps I need to consider ?? Guide me Thanks in Advance Harish

Passing return value from a Web Service to a label in a Form View

I am using JavaScript to call a web service. The JS is correctly receiving and passing the web service information. At the moment, the web service returns a country name as a string to a JavaScript alert pop up box as follows:ret = CountryRegionsWebService.GetTranslatedCountryShortName(ddl1_value, ddl2_value, OnComplete, OnTimeOut, OnError);function OnComplete(args) { alert(args); } I want to change this so that web service returns the country name to a label inside an insert item template of a form view. Is there a way to pass in the label variable to the OnComplete function signature and still account for the variable args?, such as: Server Side Declaration of JavaScript ddl2.Attributes.Add("onChange", "JavaScript:OnComplete('" + lab5.ClientID + "', '" + "args" + "');"); Client Side JavaScript function OnComplete(lab5_id, args) { var lab5 = document.getElementById(lab5_id); lab5.innerHTML = args; }

Cannot INSERT record using Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Applications

 Hi, I am working on a 'Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Application' project using just 2 tables, FAQ_Categories and FAQs. The FAQs table has a foreign key to the FAQ_Categories. The steps are straight forward. Add a new project (Asp.Net Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Applications) Add folders Model ( for Linq2Sql datacontext), Domain (for the Domain Services class) Add Linq2Slql and add the 2 tables to the designer. Build the project. Add the Domain Service Class to the Domain folder. in the wizard select the DataContext, uncheck the Enable Client & Expose ODate checkbox Check bothe table & their corresponding Enable Editing tables checbox Check the Generate Metadata class Click OK. In Global.asax set Scaffold to true and add the DomainService name. Build and run.   Pages List and Detail are working fine. But if I try to insert a new record, I get the error "FaqId is required" Faq_ID is the primary key in the database table and it is set to Identiy. The Datacontext is correct, it marked the FAQ table with <Global.System.Data.Linq.Mapping.ColumnAttribute(Storage:="_CustomerId", AutoSync:=AutoSync.OnInsert, DbType:="Int NOT NULL IDENTITY", IsPrimaryKey:=true, IsDbGenerated:=true)> _   I tried this using Linq2Sql, Entity Framework, And both in VB and C# with the same result. I am using VS20

Consuming Web Service. Dynamic WSDL ???

Hi everyone. I'm trying to consume a web service with my asp.net application. I've done the basic procedure of creating proxy classes but it won't work. After I spent hours debugging and talking to network support, I realized that a section within the WSDL was dynamic. The WSDL is located in a url like this: http://service/MyWebService?WSDL In the WSDL I have a section like this:<s0:service name="MyWebService"> <s0:port binding="s3:MyWebServiceSoap" name="MyWebServiceSoap"> <s4:address location="http://server1/MyWebService" /> </s0:port> </s0:service> If I press F5 on the browser, the WSDL shows a different address (only the server changes, actually). The range goes from server1 to server9. I've been informed that this service was hosted with some sort of balance system that redirect the requests amongst different servers according to a number of rules. I was also told that I only needed permission to access the balance server ("service"). So, I actually can't see those other "real" servers. When I generated my proxy classes, WSDL showed a path for server1. When I run my application I get a connection error ponting to the IP of server1. They said they can't give me permission to connect directly to server1 because it would kill the balance system. So, how can I con

windows form is not visible in windows service????

i am trying to open an windows form in my windows service OnStart() method but it is not opened can anybody help me my code is: protected override void OnStart(string[] args)         {             // TODO: Add code here to start your service.                         Thread t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate             {                 Form1 f = new Form1();                 Application.Run(f);             }));             t.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA);             t.Start();         }

silverlight + WCF Service + Dynamic proxy(custom binding) + basic authentication on iis

hi all, I am having an issue with how to get windows identity in silverlight project. Below is my scenario: the silverlight application need to get data from server via WCF service, i used the way that built dynamic proxy at runtime and aslo used custombinding in this case. Now my application need to deploy on iis and chosen "basic authentication" as a authentication mode. Thus i have chosen authentication mode in WCF was " <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport">". At the client side where kind of project is silverlight that i need have to dynamic proxy with custombinding. My question is: In basic authentication how can i get windows identity to set to chanelfactory.Credentials: _channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<TWebService>(this._binding, new EndpointAddress(_endpointAddress));            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName = new UserNamePasswordClientCredential();            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.UserName = "username";            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.Password = "password"; actually, i do not want to use Windows a

SelfHosted WCF Service in a Windows Form Application

Hey,   I have a simple console app that is a self hosted service and a second console app that acts as the client.  I can pass a message between the client and service.  Obviously for this to work the service has to stay up and running, so I put a Console.ReadLine(); command as the last line in the service console app to prevent the service from closing until the user presses enter. My problem is, I would like to (self)host the service in a windows form.  If, for example, I put the ServiceHost decleration in the form load method, the service does not stay open once the form load method is complete. Does anyone have any tips on how I can self host the service in a windows form application and keep the service alive?   Thanks ;o)

How WCF 4 REST Service Support Form Post As Well As XML and JSON?

Using the rest 4 template.  I have a POST method defined, with an object as a parameter.  REST 4 does a great job of automatically mapping both xml and json posts to the method.  I tested this using an HttpClient test application to build and post xml content and then json content.

I want to also support a standard form post to the method but am having problems!

I'd like the same method already accepting and converting both xml and json to also work correctly for a form post.  I am testing this by creating an HttpUrlEncoded form in the test client, adding form name/value pairs that match what the method is expecting, and trying to post it.

However I get a 400 Bad Request.  Here's some example code that is returning a 400 bad request:

            var client = new HttpClient();

            HttpUrlEncodedForm form = new HttpUrlEncodedForm();
            form.Add("Id", "99");
            form.Add("Message", "Message test with 'special' chars #!#");
            form.Add("IpAddress", "");

            var response = client.Post("<valid-uri-here>", form.CreateHttpContent());

wcf 4 rest service accepts xml and json posts but get 400 bad request on form post

Using the rest 4 template.  I have a POST method defined, with an object as a parameter.  REST 4 does a great job of automatically mapping both xml and json posts to the method.  I tested this using an HttpClient test application to build and post xml content and then json content.  All data gets correctly mapped to the corresponding properties in my entity.

I want to also support a standard form post to the method but am having problems!

I'd like the same method already accepting and converting both xml and json to also work correctly for a form post.  I figured it would "just work" but no.

I am testing this by creating an HttpUrlEncoded form in the test client, adding form name/value pairs that match what the method is expecting, and trying to post it.

However I get a 400 Bad Request.  Here's some example code that is returning a 400 bad request:

Really straightforward but fails.  Ideas why?

      var client = new HttpClient();

      HttpUrlEncodedForm form = new HttpUrlEncodedForm();
      form.Add("Id", "99"<

Help! Can't find dynamic button's postback in page.request.form??

Okay, I know that dynamic buttons and buttons in general don't use a typical postback and they post through the page.request.form.  Okay, so in visual studio, I was able to determine that page.Request.form and in the all-keys property, i SEE my button there.  It is the last item in all-keys.

When I am clicking this dynamic button which is in an updatepanel, the script below does not detect it as a button, it is still showing it as null:

public static Control GetPostBackControl(Page page)

            Control control = null;
            string ctrlname = page.Request.Params.Get("__EVENTTARGET");
            if (ctrlname != null && ctrlname != string.Empty)
                control = page.FindControl(ctrlname);
