Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

(Inner Most Exception) System.Net.Sockets.SocketException:  A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80

(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

(Outer Exception) System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException:  Could not connect to http://<MYSite>/<MYApp>/<MYService>.svc. TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

"Indigo," the code name for this framework, provides rich support for service-oriented design that is complementary to traditional object-oriented approaches. Indigo marries the best features of .NET Remoting, ASMX, and .NET Enterprise Services into a unified programming and administration model. The code is as simple as follows.

HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create("http://mydomainorsubdomain.com/dir1/page.html");

How to get what application is connected to the topmost window?

My VB.NET application is suposed to monitor what application currently is running in the topmost window. I have tried the following approach using a timer: Declare Function GetActiveWindow Lib "user32" () As System.IntPtr Declare Function GetForegroundWindow Lib "user32" () As System.IntPtr Public Declare Auto Function GetWindowText Lib "user32" _ (ByVal hWnd As System.IntPtr, _ ByVal lpString As System.Text.StringBuilder, _ ByVal cch As Integer) As Integer Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick    Dim Caption As New System.Text.StringBuilder(256)    Dim hWnd As IntPtr = GetForegroundWindow()    GetWindowText(hWnd, Caption, Caption.Capacity)    'Caption now holds the title of the topmost window End Sub By this I can see that for example Outlook or Internet Explorer is the topmost window as the name is in Window's title bar. However, if the user crates a new mail in Outlook the title of the window is "Untitled message" givning no hint of what application is running in the the window. How do I get what application is connected to the topmost window?p> Help is appreciated!

Sharepoint calendars connected to outlook, keep asking for passwords

We have sharepoint 2010 ent installed and have a bunch of shared calendars on it for our users.  We are able to successfully connect the calendars to outlook 2010, but everytime outlook is launched it asks, at least once, for a username and password to connect to the sharepoint server(but it brings up the IP address of the sharepoint server, not the URL).  NTLM authentication is enabled on the sharepoint server and if I go to the sharepoint url, it picks up on my username.  We had sharepoint services 3.0 installed previously and using shared calendars, it didn't do this.  Any thoughts?

What is the difference betweem source property and connected property for a dimension?

Hi, I need to know the difference between the source property and the connected property from a technical and functional point of view ThanksThe complexity resides in the simplicity

You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network.

I'm trying to utilize Active Directory user authentication in an ASP.NET web page and keep getting the above error when trying to authenticate. I'm not trying to connect to the network. My connecting string for the application, and membership code from web.config are listed below.  Most of what I've read on this error deals with actually connecting a machine to the network. I'm really only interested in authenticating the user. <connectionStrings>    <add name="ADConnectionString" connectionString="LDAP://dc.<mydomain>.edu/DC=<mydomain>,DC=edu"/></connectionStrings> <membership defaultProvider="MyADMembershipProvider">    <providers>        <add name="MyADMembershipProvider"            type="System.Web.Security.ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider"            connectionStringName="ADConnectionString"         />    </providers></membership> Any help would be appreciated.

Linq to Sql-connected or disconnected??

data adapter and data reader objects are used for the disconnected and connected approaches respectively. From what knowledge I have, I think LINQ to SQL supports the connected approach i.e. it maintains a live connection to the database. Is that true? If yes(or No), would like to know the series of events that take place at the server.

Multiple selection in connected list view webpart

Hi all, I have a webpart page with 2 listview webparts connected via  ("Send Row of Data"/"Get filter values from"). This connection permits me to select one row on the first listview (parent) and the second (child) gets filtered by the defined filter column. My question is how can I choose multiple rows on the parent so I can filter the rows of the child with multiple filter values? It seems on can only select one row via the "Select" column... Is there a workaround... Many thanks,

How to programatically get the vpn login id (last one used if not connected)

This might be too specific for this forum or perhaps should be directed to one of the framework forums. Sorry in advance if misplaced. I'm able to use the WMI interfaces to retrieve the username/domain etc...however this remains populated with a valid domain name even though I reboot my machine and unplug the network connection...thus they are cached (last one used). When my user fires up his/her CISCO VPN client and connects...I need to programatically get that username (can be different than windows username) even if they are currently not connected. I've looked at DotRAS as a solution but that seems to add value if they are currently connected to the VPN.Paul Reed
