Closing window in javascript without confirmation

Hello! I need to open a browser window without Toolbars, Status bar and Explorer bars (this means no back, refresh, ... buttons, no histiry, no nothing visible in this browser window). This is what I do: from normal browser window I open new window with all the properties I need and than I close the first window: <body>     <script type="text/javascript">  window.open('login.aspx','','toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,                        left=0px, top=0px,width=1024, height=768');  window.close();     </script> </body> This would be OK if the first window would just close, but it doesn't. I get the confirmation window with this text: The Web page you are viewing is trying to close the window. Do you want to close this window? I don't want user to have to close the window manually. Can somebody please tell me how to close browser window without the confirmation popup? Thnx in advanced, dvale

Open New Window Using Javascript

Using SSRS 2008. I have a main report where the user clicks on the KPI field and I want to open a new window and go to a detail report and pass parameters from the main report to the detail report. The following javascript will do that but when the KPI has "&" in it I get the following error. In this example the KPI field clicked on had "Headcount Imp & Ops" in it. Keep in mind the KPI field could have the "&" at anytime. Anyway around this? I appreciate any help. Error = The path of the item '/Test/DetailRpt, Imp' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. javascript window.history.back() issue with Modal popup extender

I have a asp.net page that has a list of items. When one of the items from the list is clicked a details page is displayed. This details page has a link button to show a popup for history of the item. The details page also has a button with text 'Back'.  The back button has onclick event set to  "javascript:window.history.back();".

This back button works fine and goes back to the first page. However when the user is on the second page and opens the pop up by clicking on the link button, the back button stop working and displays Webpage has expired message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Problem with a Javascript Popup Window Minimizing itself

I am new to Javascript.  I have seen other posts about this, but I have not been able to resolve my problem. I have a WebPage that allows a user to click a LinkButton. When the LinkButton is clicked. I execute the following Javascript code after registering the ClientScriptBlock:

<script language='Javascript'>
PopupWindow = window.open('StandardImageLookupPage.aspx','PopupWindow');
PopupWindow.resizeTo(screen.width, screen.height);

No matter what I do the popup window comes up for a brief second and then minimizes itself. I prefer that the window stays maximized.

I am stumped. Any help would be much appreciated.

ps. I am not sure if this makes a difference, but the WebForm that calls this javascript is a user control.

Javascript Confirm , return statements on window.beforeUnload

Hi all,
I'm using javascript function window.onbeforeunload to display a message to the user before he exits the page.
This javascript is calling a server method( ASP.NET and Vb.net) , if the user decides to exit the page. Else do nothing.
I'm having trouble with javascript(newbie here).The trouble is:
Originally while exiting the page, i used to do anything.This is how i used to alert the user
  if (showUnloadMessage)
return('You have attempted to leave this page.If you have made any changes to the fields without clicking Submit button,This Data will be saved as This Month Report.Are you sure you want to exit the page?');

But now i have to call a server side script based on user answer.If he decides to Quit, i have call server side function.I have written the code as below, but It gives the the message" you have attempted", and then also gives confrim message.I dont want that confirm message. I want only The "you have attempted to leave" message.If i remove the confirm () , then how do i alert the user. Where do i put these retun statemets.
Please help me correct the following javascript. The rerun statements are soo confusing to me..!!!
Thanks again

Sharepoint and SQL SSRS viewer javascript:void window.open Problem

Ok, I've seen a number of threads similar to this, but I think i have my situation narrowed down pretty tight.

I'm using the javascript:void(window.open action to "pop-up" a drill through report on an SSRS report.  the function works just fine when viewing in the SSRS report viewer...however...

- If i display this report with this function in Sharepoint via the Report VIEWER (or page viewer) web part...the functionality of the pop-up no longer works....

and heres the strange part...

If i put a report EXPLORER part in, and have it set to list the report with the function (also passing what report to open) into a report viewer web part...THE FUNCTION NOW WORKS!?

 The SSRS "Jump to URL" action is ="javascript:void(window.open('http://www.google.com'))"

Any thoughts?

It's very strange indeed.  So to summarize,

- Javascript popup worsk in native sql report server interface

- Javascript popup works if the Sharepoint viewer web part GOT its report to view from a report explorer web part

- Javascript popup does NOT repeate NOT work when using a Sharepoint report viewer to directly open the report.

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.
