chrome and safari problems with log ins and sign ups in update panels

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi,This is probably a common problem.I have log in and sign up controls in update panels. They are being focussed on when the user clicks the appropirate button. Once done, hitting the sign-up or the log-in button, the browser (FF, IE) updates the update panels and all looks nice.In chrome and safari however, this does not work quite as nice. Login and sign up still happen. But focussing the controls does not, neither does the update panel update. The user has to reload the page to see that he is actually logged in or has signed up.This is really not nice and I found a very strange error, given that update panels work fine under other circumstances.Whats the problem here and how can this be solved?Thank you very much.Regards,D

Treeview problems in Update panel

I tried using this code, on a Treeview inside an update panel, which is populated dynamically in code behind.

However, it doesnt give me the required functionality.

Following is my aspx code for the TreeView and the TreeView populating logic:

<div id="treelist">

Has anyone experienced problems using a reorder list control in Chrome/Firefox?

I have three reorder lists on a page, one does not want to work. It is no different to the others, but is behaving like it is not enabled.

All working fine in IE 7 + 8.

Any ideas appreciated :)

Update Panels, Postback Triggers, and GridViews, Oh my

I've been battling with this page for the past couple days and it works, but it's annoying, so I am hoping someone maybe has dealt with this and can help me a little.   I have an UpdatePanel that acts as a container for a number of other update panels, everything in this container works.  I got the bright idea to add a ModalPopup Extender to enhance the user experience a little when performing a certain function on the site.  The panel that acts as the container for the ModalPopup sits outside the UpdatePanel Container because if it's in the container, any interaction with a child control throws "Input string not in the correct format" error message.  Because this is outside the comfort of the UpdatePanel Container, any control that populates information into the Popup control has to register a Postback.  Thus my problem: the controls that populate the Popup are GridViews.  The only GridView Event I care to cause a PostBack is the SelectedIndexChanged, but PostBack Triggers don't care, they take all comers.  Want to go to the next page? PostBack. Sort? Hell Yeah, Postback. My initial solution is to provide a confirm type of a message under the gridview and have the user confirm their selection by clicking a button to avoid causing a postback until it's necessary, but you know what? That kinda sucks, so I sub

Chrome update.. Ajaxtoolkit TabContainer disappears on button click.

Hello,Yesterday (Thursday Sep 10th 2010) I was happy to have a TabContainer working fine on a simple page as im learning to use it.On the page was:1) Ajax Script manger.2) 1 command button (it would make label1.text = "hello world"3) A Ajax TabContainer with 2 tabs... 4) Label1 That was it and it was working fine in Chrom and IE Woohoo.. I go home...This morning I load it up to keep working way and doing more with it.... Chrome is my default browser, it loads and I click tab2 then tab 1 all is well.... I click Butto1 and the hole TabContainer disapears..After much dinging I find it still works in IE but that my Chrome has updated (on its own): (I notice only one ICON in Chrome in the uper right corner by the addres bar... Only the Wrench ICON, No more Page ICON.. So I check and sure enough Chrome did a push to V 6.0.472.55.. thanks for asking me Google...) Anyhow thats the difference and now TabContainer goes poof/disappears when clicking a button that refeshes the page.Any thoughts?Others having this problem?ThanksShane

report not visible in chrome/safari if row group is used

I am just getting started with SSRS (using 2008R2), and find that my reports, after deployment, show up empty (blank) when viewed in chrome or safari (windows). IE(8), FF and Opera work fine.

A simple table report (no grouping, etc) displays fine in all browsers, but if I add a row group, the data disppears from Chrome and Safari. The report page navigation is still present and has the right number of pages, but all display blank. Saving the report as PDF or Word file still works, so this appears to be an HTML or Javascript problem.

Is this a known problem and if so, is there a work around?

DRAGON (assistive technology) tool and update panels

Hello all,

Our web application currently uses a Master Page and each individual web page has at least one update panel.   Then each control has its own javascript to focus back on it after a page refresh.  Now the problem I am running into is the the listed AT tool is not being refreshed to see the appropriate controls unless the "Skip navigation" link (which points to the content of the page via "#Content") is selected.  Are there any suggestions on how to get the skip navigation link executed automatically?  Or even any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?  Our group cannot write this off as a work around nor as a vendor problem.   Thank you very much.

panel problem with opera,safari and chrome

I have an update panel on a form with two panels inside,one of them is hidden on pageload,there are divs inside panels and inside the hidden div there's an iframe. By clicking linkbutton the visible div become hidden and hidden become visible.At Internet Explorer and Firefox,there's no problem but at Chrome,Safari and Opera the second div that become visible by clicking linkbutton is not shown properly,it's sliding to right. I tried all possibilities about positioning at css for second div.Absolute,relative,fixed but none of them worked,i also tried without positioning but nothing changed. Is there any idea ? Thank you

SELECT and UPDATE query problems

I have a web form that should display advertisements depending of the number of impressions (number stored in a database) and I also need to update the number of impressions when page is loaded. The advertisements are displayed on a web page, but the problem is I don't know where to insert the SqlCommand for updating number of impressions.

Labels are used for displaying the number of impressions.

        String connectionString = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CMS"].ToString();
        using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString))

            using (SqlCommand commandReklama = new SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Reklama", connection))
                SqlDataReader readerReklama = commandReklama.ExecuteReader();
                while (readerReklama.Read())
                    string redirectUrl = readerReklama.GetString(1);
                    string url = readerReklama.GetString(2);
                    int brojPrikazivanja = readerReklama.GetInt32(3);
                    bool show = readerReklama.GetBoolean(4);
                    string naziv = readerReklama.GetString(5);
                    int location = readerReklama.GetInt32(6);

Problems with Repeater Control, Update Panel and the Toolkit controls

Hi Guys,

Having a bit of an issue with the Toolkit controls.

I have a Repeater Control nested inside the Update panel, the repeater item template contains a multiview control allowing users to flick through seperate bits of information. This was working fine the async update was perfect, no issues.

I have then decided to include the rating control to one of the views. problem is now everytime i want to change the view it causes the whole page to postback.

Attached is the code.

Any help is much appreciated

ObservableCollection Update Notification Problems

I have an ObservableCollection of DataRows which is bound (via a multi-binding) to a number of checkboxes generated by an ItemsControl from a DataView. The MultiBinding value converter takes the DataRowView from which each checkbox is generated and adds it to/removes it from the ObservableCollection based on whether the checkbox is checked or not. This all works fine, the binding Convert method is run when the bindings are first performed and the ConvertBack method is performed when the IsChecked value changes, however when the ObservableCollection is altered elsewhere the bindings are not updated.

I have a feeling that this could be because the ObservableCollection is raising a CollectionChanged event and the bindings are expecting PropertyChanged events, is there any way to set which events a binding will listen for and refresh upon?

Below is the XAML code for my binding in case there's any issues with it:

                <CheckBox Content="{Binding Path=Row.EventReference}" x:Name

Checkbox click event problems when using jQuery Safari Checkbox plugin

Hello friends!

On my page are 1 checkbox and 1 hidden label and 1 hidden panel. With the help of forum member raghav_khunger I've managed to write the code which shows panel and label when checkBox is checked. I've also added the code which is checking on every page post back the status of checkbox and hide/show panel and label appropriately. This is working fine.

However when I add jQuery Safari checkbox plugin (http://widowmaker.kiev.ua/checkbox/) problems appear.

Looks like the code which is handling click event is doing reverse thing: when panel and label should be hidden are shown. I can change this but then there would be problems because of the second part of the code which is checking checkbox on page load. So when I check the checkbox nothing happens. I must uncheck it and label and panel appears. But if panel is uncheck the label and panel would be hidden because on next page load (when user clicks button next).

As I said before the same code is working fine and it's test in all browsers (IE,FF,O,S,C). Maybe there is problem with checkbox plugin since it's in beta version.

<script type="text/javascript">
        $(function pageLoad() {
            var $chk = $('input:checkbox[id$=chckBoxGrp]');
            $(function ()

Page not rendering correctly in IE or Opera but works as expected in FF, Safari, Chrome

I have a page that implements a 3rd party's calendar coded in asp script.  The pages are designed to be centered in the browser window, however, the page that implements the calendar application is aligned left and it appears to ignore the div that contains my footer. This phenomenon happens only in IE. Opera, FF, Safari and Chrome render the content in the middle of the browser window.

In Opera, all of the pages are rendered centered, however, a space is appearing between the footer and content divs. Moreover, the page that renders the calendar seems to ignore the footer div like IE does.

The way the calendar is rendered is via the %%CONTENT%% token in the table that exists in the "textContent" div.

The code for the calendar page is below:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Problems with Cumulative Update package 6 for SQL Server 2008 R2

I have tried to download the Cumulative Update package 6 for SQL Server 2008 R2 several times and the file "427849_intl_i386_zip.exe" appears to be having issues. When I run the self extract gives me error 110.  What is causing this problem?

ASP.Net Gridview Edit Update Cancel Commands

In ASP.Net 2.0, GridView Control also provides the functionality to edit and update the data retrieved from the database using CommandField template. You can cancel the action using Cancel Command of the CommandField. GridView consists of events that can be used to perform the actions like edit, update and cancel upon the Data items displayed in the ASP.Net GridView Data Control.

How to format and update GridView and DataGrid rows using JQuery

The behavior described in this question is as expected. When you set text of a cell in grid, it directly affects HTML that is going to be rendered. When you set text value of a cell, it means that you are setting innerText of the cell. The column that GridView creates for command fields (Edit, Delete and Select) are a (anchor) or button elements. So you can see what will happen if you set text value in that cell. It will wipe out those link or button controls and replace them with simple text string.
