Maps in .net

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi All, We are going to develop a application in .net. I will get all traffic information at real time and we need to generate maps with Red and other color at runtime. My question: 1. What format we should ask the client to send us information at run time. 2. How are this types of application developed in .net? 3. How to develop map application getting information at runtime? 4. what should be my approach?   Regards, Rahul M

Image gallery with EXIF and Google maps?

I am trying to put together an image gallery display. I am guessing it will need to be a customer control but I am not sure.  So I figured I would ask on the best way to approach this. When the gallery is loaded I want to have one image displayed with thumbs underneath. On the right side I would like to display EXIF data and underneath that a small google map if there is geolocation tagged with the picture. I figure I will probably need to store the gallery info in a database with caption and description.  Maybe even searchable tags if I get cheeky later.

So should I be using an ajax gallery to display the images and if so how to pass the EXIF and geolocation to the other controls? Or do i pull in all the info into some sort of dataset and then parse it out to a custom control.  I am still fairly new to ASP but I have a fairly good understanding.  Should be an intersting project if nothing else.  Any thoughts.

Thanks

Run asp and ajax maps

My problem is that I want to use maps but I want to link areas of the map with a PopupControlExtender, I've tried but not working as it shows an error that says it has found no control, my question is whether it can work with and PopupControlExtender maps or if you have any suggestions on how to work with maps in welcome. The goal is that I wish to color codes to certain parts of the map, to be deployed to click a popup (PopupControlExtender) with information obtained from a database that already do with a PopupControlExtender ImageButton and without problems but I need to use maps in a second phase, I hope I have explained and I can help.

Thanks in advance.

Linked Server using ASE OLE DB Provider and Select * into where datetime maps to SQL Server datetime

Hi, I'm currently using MSSQL Server 2008 x64 SP1 [Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit)], version 10.0.2531.0.  I'm using Sybase ASE 15.0.3 ESD#3, or 15.5 ESD#1, and doing a simple Select into query where my original table on ASE, pubs..sales with DDL: stor_id     char(4)     not null, ord_num  varchar(20) not null, date         datetime    not null I run this query with Linked Server, using ASE OLE DB Provider x64, 15.5.0.1016: select * into mssql_sales from openquery(ASE1550, 'select * from pubs2..sales') The table mssql_sales has the datetime datatype from ASE mapped to datetime2(7). [With MSSQL Server 2005 the mapping is straight to datetime]. So far no problem.  However, if doing a bulk load out of this table, mssql_sales and trying to bulk into a table on MSSQL Server 2005: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn>bcp odbc.dbo.mssql_sales3 out c:\temp\mssql_sales3.dat -Spvero-2k8vm\pvms2008 -T -n -k Starting copy... 30 rows copied. Sesame: Spatial OData on Maps, Service Operations, HTTP Basic Authentication

Sesame Data Browser has just been updated to offer the following features for OData feeds: MapsImproved Service operations (FunctionImport) supportHTTP Basic Authentication supportMicrosoft Dallas support Maps Sesame now automatically displays items on a map if spatial information is available in data. This works when latitude and longitude pairs are provided. Here is for example a map of drinking fountains in Vancouver:This comes from DrinkingFountains in http://vancouverdataservice.cloudapp.net/v1/vancouver, which provides latitude/longitude for each fountain. Here is another example, without latitude/longitude this time: This is a map of the customers from the Northwind database, which are located based on their country, postal code, city, and street address. Service operations (FunctionImport) Support for service operations (aka FunctionImports) has been improved. Until now, only functions without parameters were supported. It's now possible to use service operations that take input parameters. Let's take as an example the GetProductsByRating function from http://services.odata.org/OData/OData.svc.This function is attached to Products, as you can see below: A "rating" parameter is expected in order to open the function: After clicking Open, you'll get data as usual:HTTP Basic Authentication New authentication options have been added: HTTP Basic and Dallas (more

adding onload event from code behind for Google Maps

Im working with Google maps start turoail: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/tutorial.html#HelloWorldAs you can see there's a line: <body onload="initialize()">Now since, I want to have Google Maps on page A.aspx within a masterpage main.master, I dont have the <body> tag available to me in the A.aspx page.I preferably DONT want to have the body tag as runat="server", since Google Maps is not relevant for all pages and I dont like a server control when its not needed as they slow things down (even a bit).I tried this in A.aspx.vb, but it didnt work:Dim javaScript As New StringBuilder        javaScript.Append("<script type='text/javascript'>")        javaScript.Append("window.document.body.onload = initialize();")        javaScript.Append("</script>")        Me.Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me.GetType(), "BodyLoadUnloadScript", javaScript.ToString())How can I add the onload event from code behind?

XPath expression not working for Google Maps return XML

I have this XMLdocument:<kml><Response><name>3051,netherlands</name><Status><code>200</code><request>geocode</request></Status><Placemark id="p1"><address>3051 Rotterdam, The Netherlands</address><AddressDetails Accuracy="5"><Country><CountryNameCode>NL</CountryNameCode><CountryName>Nederland</CountryName><AdministrativeArea><AdministrativeAreaName>Zuid-Holland</AdministrativeAreaName><Locality><LocalityName>Rotterdam</LocalityName><PostalCode><PostalCodeNumber>3051</PostalCodeNumber></PostalCode></Locality></AdministrativeArea></Country></AddressDetails><ExtendedData><LatLonBox north="51.9497984" south="51.9402954" east="4.4907255" west="4.4656367"/></ExtendedData><Point><coordinates>4.4767883,51.9458650,0</coordinates></Point></Placemark></Response></kml>I used this site: http://www.xmlme.com/XpathTool.aspxwhere I enter the expression: "kml/Response/Placemark/Point/coordinates"I then get the right value. HOWEVER, when I place this code in .NET, the xpath expression returns nothing:req = HttpWebRequest.Create("http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?output=x
