How would runtime determine which assembly to load?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi , How would runtime behave, if I have an assembly with same version number in two different folders on my machine? How to restrict the runtime to read from bin folder only for my specific assembly?

I have a .Net 2.0 prject , and need call .Net3.5 assembly. If the machine set up .net3.5, it can work;  otherwise it will throw exception. Now I want to prepair two aseembly, .net2.0 and .net3.5. They are same source and IO, but .net2.0 disable some .net3.5 functions. When I found the machine doesn't support .net3.5, I call the .net2.0 aseembly. How do it?

Could not load file or assembly - Web Deployment Project

Hi,

I have the following projects in a solution :

- A Web Application

- A Class Library

- A Web Deployment project

The Web Application compiles and run fine when I don't go through the Web Deployment Project. However when I try to use that, I get the following error:

How to load a usercontrol xaml at runtime ???????

What would be the best way to load controls at runtime ?      Programmer

Slow load time of custom assembly on x64 compared to x86.

I am developing an application that automatically generates assemblies using the CSharpCodeProvider (.Net Framework 3.5).  These assemblies contain a single class with a very large number of local variables and methods.  After compilation I create an instance of this class (using Activator.CreateInstance) to be used elsewhere in the application.  When the application is deployed on a 32-bit system (tested on Win 7 Prof 32-bit and on Win XP) the CreateInstance method returns after 1 or 2 seconds, i.e. it first JITs the assembly before creating the instance.  However, on a 64-bit system (tested on Win 7 Home 64-bit, Win Server 2003 64-bit and Win Server 2008 64-bit) CreateInstance takes up to 5 minutes to return. Is there any reason why it would be that much slower on a 64-bit machine? I have tried many different options when compiling, such as setting the platform to x64, using the /optimize flag, etc, but none of these have made a difference. I also tried calling PrepareMethod on all the method in the class.  When I do this in the 32-bit environment, it takes approximately 10 seconds.  In the 64-bit environment it takes more than 3 minutes. As a last resort I tried ngen before constructing the object, but this made no difference in the execution time.

However, during runtime when i try to create an instance of the com class: 'someComClass a = new someComClass()' I get the error:COMException : Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {XXXXXXXXX} failed due to the following error: 80040154OK people, bring it on, what's wrong ? how do i fix it ? registery issues ? compiler issues ?Any help is welcomedWith thanksOded

Load dynamically assembly with dependencies

I'm trying to download .dll by having some url (http://somedomain.com/myassembly.dll) and load it into appdomain. Once I download this assembly I can't load it into appdomain, because it has some dependencies. Some of these dependencies I can found on my local machine (such as .NET libraries), but some of them I have to download and load into appdomain. So there are several questions: 1. How to determine list of dependencies without loading assembly into appdomain (and by having only byte[] as assembly) 2. How to determine which of these dependencies can be found locally Thanks, Paul.

Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in t

First, yes I've read every article I can find including this one: http://msmvps.com/blogs/rfennell/archive/2010/03/27/mixed-mode-assembly-is-built-against-version-v2-0-50727-error-using-net-4-development-web-server.aspx Of course it's for web server stuff, but I found this in my config file and added it. However, my problem now is that if I build in release mode I get a hard error in the error list telling me the same thing, even though it runs fine in debug and has the information in my app.config file. The really anoying part is that the error doesn't tell you WHICH assembly is the offending one. Anyone have any ideas?
