Not able to consume a WCF service

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I have been working very hard in the weekend to make me Json wcf service work. I found lot of articles on json service which are self hosted, even this works fine for me. But while I'm trying to consume a JSON wcf service hosted on the server, it is not working. (At this point I'm assuming that there is no need to add a WCF service as a reference because the http:server:portnumber/Service.svc/js serves as the script proxy which can be used to call the service hosted on the server. ) I have searched a lot but could not find a single article with steps to follow while deploying a JSON wcf service on a server and then consuming in different application. Can any body please help me in getting this problem solved. Like any example or a sample Thanks,

Test WEB Service, Consume From Alternate PC

I'm developing a web service which will be consumed by a Motorola RFID Scanning System. For test/debug I want to execute it from withing VS (which executes it on the dev box, available through localhost) but have it accessible by the external device. How do I go about exposing the web service from my dev box to the 'outside' world?  VS2008 on WinXP. TIA - Gary Gary in Massena. WinForms Client Development. SQL Server Management and Development.

Consume service based on XSD?

I've been given the task of consuming a client's web service, and all they've given me is a XSD file. I'm a little unsure how to go about doing this, as the only other time I've consumed a web service was internally and we just pulled it in as a web reference to our project.

Where do I start when all I have the XSD (below)?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:tns="http://www.cisco.com/services" targetNamespace="http://www.cisco.com/services" elementFormDefault="qualified">
<element name="employeeSearch" type="tns:employeeSearchType"/>

How to consume java base SOAP web service XWSS?

I have java base SOAP web service XWSS. I installed WES 3.0 + VS2008

When I’s setting Security.Takens.Add() I’m getting message:
SoapContext.Security is obsolete.
Consider deriving from SendSecurityFilter or ReceiveSecurityFilter and creating a custom policy assertion that generates these filters.

Does it require some web service updates?
Do you have any samples how to create Custom Policy?

Can sharepoint desinger consume wcf data service?

I am thinking to change my wcf data service based on ado.net data service because It seems that sharepoint designer does not understand.

I can use VS 2010 to develop it external list but I just want my clients to use sharepoint designer to do themself so I can only take care of the service

However If I do not use wcf data service, it look like that I have to do a lot of coding for the service itself

Could anyone please tell me how to use sharepoint designer to talk to the wcf data service, or other alternative approach?

Thank you in advance

consume a web service?

Hi all,

I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm quite confused now.. I have started a new web application in VWD and added a web reference to this thing...

http://ws.cdyne.com/WeatherWS/Weather.asmx?op=GetCityWeatherByZIP

Now I need to display the city, state, zip code, temperature, wind, and humidy on a webpage but I don't know how.

Here's my default.aspx code..

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"  CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

</head>

Consume WCF Service Host from client thru WAN.

Best way to consume REST service

I've been using 'Add Service Reference' for years now to consume SOAP based services, not because I don't understand WCF, but because I don't have time to hand-roll contracts, classes, etc everytime I want to consume something.

Now I have to consume a REST service and 'Add Service Reference' can't handle.   It looks like I'm in a position where I'm going to have to hand-roll a bunch of contracts and classes in order to consume and that just bugs me to death.

Isn't there something in VS2008/10 that does this the way 'Add Service Reference' does for SOAP services?    If not I'm very disappoint with Microsoft - Visual Studio is suppose to be about RAD - hand rolling things just to consume isn't very RAD-like.

Consume the Siebel On Demand web service in .Net console application.

Hi,

I have Siebel On demand web service wsdl, I want to consume Siebel OD web service in my .Net console application.

I want to update Siebel On Demand picklist(Table) from .Net client

I can implement this from below 2 ways.

1. Add web reference and VS will automatically create proxy class.

2. Dynamically create input soap message and pass soap message across with help web service extension’s webrequest and webresponse methods.

Please advice which one of above process will be good in performance, scalability of client, lightness of invocation of web service.

 And also let me know other way for performance enhance
