How can I restrict runtime to look for dlls in only bin folder

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi, How do I restrict runtime to see only bin folder to load two specific dlls To explain the scenario better, I need my windows application to communicate with MQ server. But my constraint is that I do not want the users of the application to load MQ Client. For this I extracted two dlls from MQ client and included in my project's bin folder and tried to conect to MQ server. It works perfectly fine if there is no MQ Client installed on the machine. But if any version of MQ Client is present on the machine, it fails. I believe it is trying to read from the dlls present on the machine instead of reading it from bin folder and it fails for some of the older version which did not supported .NET calls. I would want to restrict the runtime to read only two dlls and not go to load other dlls if it finds MQ Client installed.   Can <assemblybind> or probing method help me in this? If so, how to include it in my config file.

How to restrict folder access to users and theirs only

Hi. I created a web application using "Forms Authentication".

There is a folder name "uploads", and it creates subfolders as username when they register. Web application stores users' files and images under their folder ("uploads/username")

I tried to find a way to restrict users to download and upload files to their folder only and couldn't find a good one.

Then I came up with this idea that stores "web.config" file each time user registers and the web.config should look like below. Username will be changed dynamically according to username.

This method actually works but I am little worried if this is a good practice as far as performance wise. Because it'll create web.config files as many as users and there might be other holes that I don't recognize.

I appreciate any advice or better suggestion for this problem.

Restrict folder access in Report Server

Hi There, I am creating folders each of our end users in Report Server, who upload their reports to their respective folder. Thanks for your help. Regards, Suresh

restrict access for a single group to a single folder in a list

Hello and Goodmorning,

I have one list, organized with 3 folders.

I can create a group(s), add user(s) to this group(s).

Now i need to assign access like this:  group1 can only see and 'readonly' folder1, group2 can only see and 'readonly' folder2, group3 can only see and 'readonly'...folder3!

Im sure this is possible, from similar non-programming posts on the forum.

I have been looking into SPRoleAssignment and SPRoleDefinition to define Group permissions but its the mapping them to specific folders that I am missing...

Enjoy your tea.

Create And Run Excel Macro At Runtime in C#

You've been tasked with writing a Windows Form application using the .NET Framework that interacts with Microsoft Excel. If you are new to working with Excel in .NET and are having trouble learning how to format certain cells or cell ranges, then this little tip will come in handy. Rather than scour the internet hoping to find the correct set of constants or method syntax for formatting your spreadsheet, use the built in tools in Excel to write the familiar VBA code for you. Then, you can paste the VBA code generated by Excel into the sample C# code below and run it dynamically at runtime.

How to Localize Windows Forms and Change the Language at Runtime

Localization is the process of customizing your application to a particular language, culture or locale. Visual Studio provides support for localizing Windows Forms with much ease. In this article, we will see how to localize windows forms and give the user the ability to change to his preferred language at runtime.
When you run a localized application, the appearance is determined by two culture values. The UICulture property is used to specify which resource files will be loaded for the form. The Culture property, on the other hand, determines how strings such as dates, numerals, and currency amounts are formatted.
Let us see the steps required to create a localized form. You can then expand this example and adopt the same approach for the rest of the forms in your project

Create new sql table at runtime VB.Net

I want to create a new table to sql database at runtime.  The column names would be "Name", "Date", "Event".  I would also like to have one more column name "Image" but the problem is that since the amount of images will vary, I want the application to count the amount of files in the Multiple fileuploader and then add a image column to the table for the respected amount of files.

For example if i am uploading 3 files in the multiple fileuploader, the names should be "Name", "Date", "Event", "Image1", "image2", Image3"

I also would like that table name to be name dynamically from the textbox Name when the user enters the information.

I have the following code to make a new table, but I dont know how to name the fields at runtime like previously asked please help!!!

Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=<servername>;uid=<userid>;pwd=<password>;database=master")

objConn.Open()

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A03EC): Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any mo

Hello good people,

I have this beast as an error. Did my research and found some posts here as well but did not do any good for me.

Here is what I did. I had an error regarding issue rights with COM objects so I gave access rights under component services for Microsoft Excel application now I am getting this error.

Here is some information regarding this

1. Gave rights to ASPNET and network service to my web app directory to try to fix this error.

2. The exact same process works on my Windows 2003 server and my Windows 7 development machine. I am trying to get this going on a different windows 2003 machine that is outside of our domain.

3. Developing on windows 7 64 bit with office 2010 installed. Also excel 2010 is installed on my Web server

4. Here is the code that is causing the error: The last line is causing the error.:

GC.Collect();
            MyXl = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
            MyXl.Visible = false;

            MyWb = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Workbook)(MyXl.Workbooks.Add(Missing.Value));
            int test = 0;
            MySheet = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet)MyXl.ActiveSheet;
            if (reader.HasRows)
            {
                int InRow = 2;
                for (int i = 0; i < Nu

Hello All Experts,

I have made one matrix report, in which i have taken one column group named as "Branch".
It will display dynamically all the branches. Now in that column group i have added two sub column
as "PO", "SO". In column "PO" i have given link of anther report with the paramtere also.

Now there is a hyperlink in PO column which is display for all the branches, i want that the hyperlink should be there for only branch name "AHD", for other branches there should not be any hyperlink to go another report.

Is this possible? if yes then how can we do this?
