problem with MSDAORA provider on 64 bit environment

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi All, I have Asp.net application which I have created on the vista 32 using vs 2005. Which uses MSDAORA provider to connect to oracle,which works fine. But when we are deploying on windows 2003 server 64bit it is giving the below error: Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The 'MSDAORA.1' provider is not registered on the local machine. I have search on the google for the solution and found that: 'switch the appication to 32 bit and use a 32 bit Oracle client' How can I do that ? or another solution is : use a 64 bit client and oledb provider instead (Ie, Oracle's provider - ORAOLEDB.ORACLE) My question is if I installed this provider do I have to uninstall anything or just to install the oracle driver and use ORAOLEDB.ORACLE and it will work. Any suggestion very much appriciated. ThanksYanku

What's wrong with MSDAORA.1 (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle) in SQL2008R2

Dear Gurus, I'd install a test SQL2008R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Version. And Install Oracle both x86 and x64 version Client. And I'd create a new AS Database as AS System Administrator. And then create a new Datasource with "Microsoft OLE DB Prodiver for Oracle" Provider. When I test connection ,  it tested succeed. Then I create Datasource View / Dimension / Cubes etc... But when I process then Database. There is a error occurs. "Database Access Module Error , Provider 'MSDAORA.1' not register" I'd follow http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152516.aspx change SQL Server 2008 R2's registry key as the note. Then restart this server . But still same error !   And I'd success process the cube if I change provider as "Oracle OLE DB Proverder"   Is MSDAORA been obsolete in SQL SERVER 2008 R2 ?Wilson

OLE DB Provider MSDAORA for SQL Server 2008(64 bit)

Hi, Going forward our product would support on SQL Server 2008(both 32 bit and 64 bit).We do migrate data in our application from Oarcle to SQL Server using LINKED Server using provider is 'MSDAORA'.We never ever had any issue in migration for any SQL Server versions. but for migration data from Oracle 11G 64-bit to SQL Server 2008 64 bit we are facing issue says 'The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" has not registered'. I pulled this from a Microsoft forum: “MSDAORA is old and designed for Oracle 8. Currently Microsoft does not provide any 64-bit provider for Oracle.” Please let me know how to resolve this issue. custom membership provider with WSS API problem

Hi, I just ran into a weird problem when writing a custom membership provider for a wss site.

This is how we validate user, since the authentication is using webserivce, we need to call the web user and passing user name and password to the webserice then update the WSS Profile based on the webservice call. This is how we do for ValidateUser(string username, string password)

 public override bool ValidateUser(string username, string password)
      edwsusermaintWS.edwsusermaint usermgt_ws = new ASP.NET.CustomMembership.edwsusermaintWS.edwsusermaint();
      bool isvalid = false;

        string userinfo = usermgt_ws.validatePassword(username, password);

        if (userinfo != null && userinfo.Length > 0)
          SPWeb siteEval = null;
              using (SPSite siteCollection = new SPSite(SPContext.GetContext(System.Web.HttpContext.Current).Site.Url))
                SPWeb site = siteCollection.OpenWeb();
                siteEval = site;

            siteEval.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
            //This is not efficient process, because everytime, people logs in,it queries the webservice to update

I can see it in the Linked Server Provider Strings in the drop down too.

Oracle connection fail with Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle MSDAORA.1

On my dev server I have working ssis packages that use connections Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle MSDAORA.1 and Oracle provider for oledb and OracleClient data provider.

I use one or the other according to my needs.

In anticipation and to prepare for the build of a new production server, I have build a test server from scratch and deployed to it the entire dev.

Almost everything works except Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle.

Strange Problem with IBMDA400 OLE DB Provider

Dear All,

My objective to use SSIS to to pull data from DB2 and store into SQL Server.

Working environment is:
Database: DB2 UDB iSeries V5R3
Provider: IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries IBMDA400 OLE DB Provider
SQL Server 2005 SP: Latest i-e SP2

In connection manager, i have changed the following properties in OLEDB driver settings and connection with DB2 is tested successfully.
1- CATALOG LIBRARY LIST = AS/400 library
3- INITIAL CATALOG = Database Name
4- Defualt Collection = AS/400 library

After testing connection, I Created an OLE DB source and in OLE DB Datasource Editor set following properties:

In OLEDB source editor, if i use "Table or View" name option then the drop table list is populated perfectly and i can specify any table. With this option Package executes fine. But if i use the SQLCommand and specify the query, it prase the query correctly and i can preview the data in this source editor. But upon execution package return the following error message.

[OLE DB Source [1]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x8

problem using custom membership provider in sharepoint 2010, please help!

My company developed a custom membership provider using .net framework 4 which causes the problem. As you know, all web application in sharepoint 2010 is running on .NET framework 2, so when a web application is configured to use our .net 4 custom membership provider, .NET CLR version 2 is loaded to run the web application but our membership provider assembly binds to .NET CLR version 4. So it is not surprising to see the following exception:

Could not load file or assembly '[our membership provider assembly]' or one of its dependencies.This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime andcannot be loaded.

Logically, there are two ways to solve this problem, but neither of these ways actually works.

1. Change the application pool under which the web application runs to use .NET 4 rather .NET 2. But this causes a lot of web.config exceptions. I don't quit understand those config exceptions because in asp.net it's framework backwards compatible.

2. Redirect our membership provider assembly to be executed under .net framework 2. But this way also doesn't work because if our membership provider assembly uses some classes available only in .net framework 4, that part of code has no way to be executed.

Can you give

Custom SessionState provider & web services problem

My .Net Framework 3.5 web application uses MySql database accessed by .Net Connector 6.3.3. I use it's membership provider too. Recently I replaced InProc SessionState provider to MySql custom provider.

After this web services in application stopped working. Instead of something useful any webservice method returns html page with description of web service generated by IIS/ASP.NET.

I'm not using session state in web methods and they are declared with simple [WebMethod] attribute, so EnableSession has its default value - false. I've tried also the simple Hello World web service to be sure I'm not doing something different in my web services.

This problem occurs only with SOAP. HTTP POST is ok, so invoking web service method  on  IIS generated page works as before.

Because I didn't find anything useful I'd like to ask if there is solution for this custom SessionState / webservice combination problem. I don't know if it is specific for MySql or not.

SSIS 2008 Package with OLE DB provider MSDAORA.1 does not pass validation

Hello there---

I have run into a problem that apparently others have hit, too, but I don't seem to see any definitive solutions to the problem... I have created a package in BIDS (VS2008) for SQL 2008, living on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box (64-bit OS). I have set up my connections to an Oracle DB and my local SQL Server via Connection Managers, and testing the connections rolls successfully. My Data Flow tab is all set with the source db (Oracle) and my destination db (SQL 2008) as well as a Data Conversion step in between. But when I run the package from within the BIDS (F5), the package does not pass validation. I am getting the following messages...

[Connection manager "OTAP.rmarkarian"] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDB_NOPROVIDER_64BIT_ERROR.  The requested OLE DB provider MSDAORA.1 is not registered -- perhaps no 64-bit provider is available.  Error code: 0x00000000.
An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Service Components"  Hresult: 0x80040154  Description: "Class not registered".

I have looked at the following thread in this forum (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/920a0817-d9

Problem to group radio button across gridview rows

In general no one can easily group or make a single selection from radio button list inside gridview rows. There are a lot of way to make a single or unique selection from list. Thats why i tried to group the radio buttons in vertical manner. Let i have a requirement like below:

Throughout this article, we will build a simple IQueryable provider similar to the LINQ to SQL provider demonstrating what is needed to build a custom provider that is capable of executing LINQ queries and performing create, update and delete operations.
