Namespace 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient' cannot be found.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hey Guys. I'm having some really annoying issue using ADO.NET connector. I've added reference to my project- the file "MySQL.data.dll" Actually, i've copied the file from "MySQL Connector Net 6.2.2\Assemblies" to "MyWebSite\bin" and then added reference. Then, typed "using MySQL.data" and as you can guess, i've got that message: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient' cannot be found. What am i doing wrong? thanks ahead

Namespace name 'MySql' could not be found

Hello,

i am building a webapplication in Web Developer 2005 Express. I'm using C#. I build an application who connects to a MySQL database. To do this, I use the .net mysql connection from http://mysql.com . I made a reference in the "Add Reference" screen. When I test the application on my pc it connects fine to the database. However, when I upload the application to my Host I get the following:

Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'MySql' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Source Error:

Line 9:  using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;
Line 10: using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
Line 11: using MySql;

What am I doing wrong. I copied all files (including the bin folder) to the server, but he keeps giving that error. The strange thing is, that if I look in the reference tab in the website properties, he doesn't display any references. When I add the MySQL reference, he doesn't add it there. It works on my PC however.

(I connect to a MySQL server on the Host. So it can't be the MySQL Database I guess).

Plea

MySql.Data assembly problem

Hi,

I added refernece MySql.Data to my project. My web.config looks like that:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<configuration>
    <connectionStrings>
    </connectionStrings>
    <system.web>
        <compilation>
            <assemblies>
                <add assembly="MySql.Data, Version=6.1.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=C5687FC88969C44D"/>
            </assemblies>
    </compilation></system.web></configuration>

But when in ServerExplorer I try "Add Connection..." I can't find "MySql Database" in the "Choose Data Source" dialog box?

What the problem can be?

Error Build: Type or namespace could not be found, when referencing a web service

Hello, I'm new in writing C# application in Visual Studio 2008. I'm currently writing a web application for CRM 4.0 Reporting Service rendering. I reference my web application to our Reporting Service web service http://reportservername /ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx and name it 'RSWebReference'. Then I want to reference it in my code: Using RSWebReference; Not sure why, but I cannot build my solution, saying "The type or namespace name 'RSWebReference' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)". I read this thread in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/74f70e30-83e8-4817-b5e0-7729450730a1 that the website probably is using .net 1.1, and I should change it to .net 2.0. However, I think the website is already using 2.0. Is it probably because I'm using VS 2008? How can I tell and change if the website is using 1.1 or 2.0? Or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advanced for your help! -Elizabeth K.

How to Decrypt rc4 data by using Cryptography namespace?

I have encrypt a string by using CALG_RC4 Algorithm in C++ on the client side. I want to Decrypt it in C# on the server side. I can do the mession by using RC2 Algorithm. Because there are classes such as DESCryptoServiceProvider ,RC2CryptoServiceProvider in the namespace Cryptography. But there is any RC4CryptoServiceProvider class. So I don't know how to do it. I appreciate your view.

SSRS 2008 - Data Source cannot be found in Preview

Hello; Something weird is happening to me - Never happened before on 100's of reports using Shared Data Sources. I have a Shared data source defined and when I try to preview a new report, I get a message saying that "The data source 'ProjectList' cannot be found" When I created the dataset, I pointed it to the shared data source. I can preview the data when I run my query from query designer, so it's obviously seeing my shared data source. If I use an embedded data source, the report renders just fine. I'm using SSRS 2008R2 BIDS to develop the report - the data source is hosted from a SQL Server 2008R1 database. Anyone ever seens this? How'd you get out of it? ThanksThanks Ron...

"Assembly '...' Was Not Found" When including a reference to a local namespace

I've got a WPF application with a window and a usercontrol:   Window:   <Window x:Class="UI.Windows.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:UI.Windows.Documents" Title="Window1" Height="600" Width="800"> <DockPanel> <!-- Snip --> </DockPanel> </Window>     UserControl:   <UserControl x:Class="UI.Windows.Documents.MyDisplay" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml> <Grid> <!-- Snip --> </Grid> </UserControl>       Now, when I try to look at this in the designer i get an error saying Assembly 'UI' was not found.  I've searched high and low, but the internet is full of references to this being a 2005 issue and the solution is to upgrade to 2008.  I'm already using 2008 (don't even have 2005 installed on the machine), and I still get the problem.

Godaddy.com and MySql.Data.dll problems.

I posted this on the 'Hosting Open Forums', but didn't get any answer so I'll try again here...   I have a .NET 2.0 application that is hosted on Godaddy.com.  When you setup your MySQL database, Godaddy supplies you with several connection strings, depending on the connector you wish to use (ODBC, OLEDB, and MySQL Connector .NET). Since they provide a connection string for Connector .NET, I assume this means I could use this connector to access MySQL, and from what I read, doing so would be preferable to using ODBC or OLEDB. I setup my page and plopped the MySql.Data.dll into my bin directory as suggested.  Since Godaddy sets the trust level to medium on shared hosts, I got the following error (I've seen many people bring up this problem due to running under a medium trust level in .NET 2.0):  System.Security.SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers. So, I did some research and it was suggested that if you add [assembly:AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers] to AssemblyInfo.cs in the MySql Connector .NET source, recompile, then use the new .dll, the trust issue will be resolved. I did this and placed the new .dll in my /bin folder and although the original error went away, I now get the following error:  MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException: Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts ---> System.Security.Se
