Posted By:      Posted Date: September 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi,I would like to show the javascript errors in Label,not in some kind of pop up,so the look and feel will be similar to Validation controls,but I dont want to use Validation control.Please view the sample code:<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head runat="server">    <title>Untitled Page</title></head><body>    <form id="form1" runat="server">    <div>    <script type="text/javascript">    function makevisible()    {    if (document.getElementById("<%=txt1.ClientID%>").value=="")      {                 alert("Name Feild can not be blank");              //   document.getElementById("<%=txt1.ClientID%>").focus();                 document.getElementById("<%=lblErr.ClientID%>").value="Name can't be blank!";                 return false;  &nb

How to show label when TreeView is empty?

Sometimes I feel that DataBinding and Triggers defined in xaml is just trying to fight me.

I have this really simple case where I have a UserControl with a TreeView and a TextBlock. I want to show the TextBlock only when the TreeView is empty.

In code this would be one or two lines of code, but I’m determined to hook it up in xaml, but so far, no matter what I try it doesn’t work.

I even tried to expose the Items as a property on the control class itself – but I could bind to that either.

How would you do this in xaml ?

Ajax AutoCompleteExtender displaying incorrectly or causing javascript errors

I have an autocomplete extender working well with IE and Firefox but it is either displaying incorrectly or causing the error below in Chrome and Safari.

Displaying incorrectly: At times the autocomplete list appears in the lower right corner of the browser.  It still works at this point though.

Error: The list stops appearing along with the halting of all of the JavaScript on the page.  I captured the error (see below).  In order to get the page to operate correctly again, I have to refresh the page.

Things to note:

  • There are two autocomplete extenders on two separate textboxes both of which trigger an asynchronous post-back that updates the value of the other (to ensure the data is correct according to the database).
  • These are both located in an update panel that triggers the a-post-back.
  • I have customized the CSS but when I set the CSS back to the defaults for AjaxControlToolkit there was no change to the behavior described above.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Using Javascript to show/hide asp elements

I have an address page that validates via USPS.  The user inputs their address and clicks the "validate" button.  The "validate" button goes away, the validated address is displayed and a "submit" button shows up.  If a user makes a change to their address after they have validated, they need to be forced to validate again.  However that's not happening.  The visibility doesn't change at all.

Here is my script:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    function HideValidated(form) {
        document.getElementById('<%= trValidate.ClientID %>').style.display = "inline";
        document.getElementById('<%= trCorrected.ClientID %>').style.display = "none";
        document.getElementById('<%= trSubmit.ClientID %>').style.display = "none";

Here is part of my HTML:

<asp:TableRow runat="server" ID="trValidate">
