Help - Serious ReportViewer Problem upon upgrade to VS2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010 and none of my reports work! First, I had to replace all the existing ReportViewer controls with new ones.  Then, when the page finally runs, it is stuck in a loop: I see the "Loading..." word and icon while the ReportViewer is loading, then a quick flash, and the page loads again! What's going on?  What am I missing that should obviously be changed to make these ReportViewers work?  These reports were designed in VS2005/2008, and have been in production for several years. Please help - I have a screaming client... (I know, we all do...)

Session problem with display of image in row of reportviewer

Hello techies...

I am new to this sql reporting service. But anyhow by surfing I am able to bind the report but i was stuck in image display.

Anyways, i also managed that. But the real problem is whenever i was keeping a image control in rdlc report i was having session prob. If i remove the image control then as usual report works fine.

Please suggest me some solution.... either for session problem or for image display. I am keeping the image name in database but for binding the rdlc report i am using a store procedure which return the path (static) concating with the image name(kept in database).

Hope to find a solution .....

Problem with Subreport in ReportViewer

I'm trying to use the report designer in Visual Studio 2010 for the first time.  It's pretty straightforward and I've got my main report working just fine.  It's a local report (RDLC).

Now I want to add a subreport and I'm having trouble.  I've created the subreport and it runs perfectly on its own, but when I add it to the main report and run the main report the main report works but where the subreport should be is a message which says:

Data retrieval failed for the subreport

followed by the path to the report.  I'm passing the only parameter that the subreport requires from the main report, just specifying a static value for now until I get it working, at which point I'll change it to an expression.  I do have two SQL data sources on my page with the ReportViewer, one which corresponds to the required data for the main report and one for the subreport.  I don't know if this is the right way of doing it but I've tried just using one data source with all of the fields in it instead and that didn't work either.

Tutorials for the report designer and subreports are few and far between but those I can find make it seem very simple and I can't see what I'm doing wrong!

I am having a problem with my graphs disappearing after upgrading to Reporting Services 2008 R2.  The graphs are visible if the report is run from the Report Mananger but if the report is viewed from an ASP web app using ReportViewer 9.0 they disappear.  If the report is exported the graphs are there.  This is driving me crazy.

VS2010 ReportViewer with SQL 2005

Please forgive me for the simple question because I'm a newbie and I'm trying SQL Reporting service for the first time EVER.

The more I read online, the more I'm confused.  My setup is this.

VS2010 / SQL 2005 / IIS 6 / ASP.NET 4.0

I created my first report using SQL 2005 and it works great from the report server.

I'm trying to run this report in my aspx page using a reportviewer control.  As soon as I put a reportviewer control on my page, this gets generated in web.config but it's cuasing the below error.  All I did was put the control on the page.  I haven't even changed anything to the control yet.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Sharepoint 3.0 upgrade problem

I'm getting an error in upgrading a Sharepoint 2.0 install to 3.0 to complete a TFS 2010 install. The Sharepoint install is on a single server config that is setup as a Domain controller. The error is after the prescan verification and is as follows:

Created a label, name is FinishForm, text is An exception of type System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was thrown.  Additional exception information: DDL statement is not allowed.

The error is thrown on the pre-existing 2.0 MSSQL Server 2008 database instance setup by the sharepoint 2.0 installer.

VS2010 - Problem with WinForms generated code

Hi:

I'm having trouble with the code that is generated automatically by the WinForms designer, sometimes it generates code that uses the 'components' (IContainer) in the constructors of disposable components and other times it doesn't.

Here is some code. First the code that is generated in a clean new project with just one component on the form:

  private void InitializeComponent()
  {
   this.components = new System.ComponentModel.Container();
   this.errorProvider1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ErrorProvider(this.components);
   ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.errorProvider1)).BeginInit();
   this.SuspendLayout();
   //
   // errorProvider1
   //
   this.errorProvider1.ContainerControl = this;
   //
   // Form1
   //

2008 reportviewer - IE9 beta caching problem

Hi,

In IE9 beta the reportviewer is caching the previous report. I have a reportviewer on an aspx page that gets called and the code behind connects to the reportserver using the remote process mode.

However when the new tab opens up the old report is still displayed. This doesnt happen in IE7 or Firefox.

Anyone come across this problem?

Thanks
