How to add Microsoft Sync Framework to Prerequisites Dialog Box

Hello everyone. I created a setup project in Visual Studio 2008 and I need to add microsoft sync framework as a prerequisite. But microsoft sync framework option is not in the Prerequisites Dialog Box. How can I add microsoft sync framework as a prerequisite to my project?

Sync Framework 2.1 The modified data Cannot synchronized

In the server database table delete and add new data can be downloaded to the client but the table has a field on a data modification cannot be synchronized to the client

DbSyncScopeDescription scopeDesc = new DbSyncScopeDescription("testScope");
  DbSyncTableDescription tableDesc = SqlSyncDescriptionBuilder.GetDescriptionForTable(tab, serverConn);
  SqlSyncScopeProvisioning serverProvision = new SqlSyncScopeProvisioning(serverConn, scopeDesc);

DbSyncScopeDescription scopeDesc = SqlSyncDescriptionBuilder.GetDescriptionForScope("testScope"), serverConn);
  SqlSyncScopeProvisioning clientProvision = new SqlSyncScopeProvisioning(clientConn, scopeDesc);

Data structure to automatically sync data between windows application and Microsoft SQL Server

I dont know whether I am posting this question in the right forum, please move it if needed. I have a windows application that shows data from a SQL table. I cannot use DataGridView in the application, I have a custom form to display the data. I need a datastructure to hold the table data and I display it using my custom windows form. Which data structure should I use to automatically sync data between windows application and SQL Server? I don't want to manually write Update queries. Any help would be appreciated.

SQL server 2008 r2 Data sync question???

Sql 2008 r2 data sync, does it involve a db hosted by microsoft or does that involve us hosting the sync functionality locally?  I know we have db's local that need to be sync'd across a wan but does that happen in a db hosted in the ms cloud or does that have to do with a sync functionality that runs locally to keep my db's sync'd?   Thanks, SL

MS Sync Framework INSERT Trigger

Hello, Due to the sync framework insert trigger my business logic was broke. I was getting resulted in a StaleStateException (-1 rows affected, expected 1). error. I looked at the sync insert trigger and found a strange thing. There is an update call before inserting to the tracking table. This update call joins with the tracking table for inserted record. How it is going update the record which really do not exists! I removed the UPDATE call and it works fine now. However I am not sure the reason behind the presence of the UPDATE call withing the INSERT trigger. Here is the sample trigger: ALTER TRIGGER MYTABLE_insert_trigger] ON MYTABLE FOR INSERT AS UPDATE [side] SET [sync_row_is_tombstone] = 0, [local_update_peer_key] = 0, [restore_timestamp] = NULL, [update_scope_local_id] = NULL, [last_change_datetime] = GETDATE(), [ID] = [i].[ID] FROM [sync].[MYTABLE_tracking] [side] JOIN INSERTED [i] ON [side].[PrimaryKey1] = [i].[PrimaryKey1] AND [side].[PrimaryKey2] = [i].[PrimaryKey2] INSERT INTO [sync].[MYTABLE_tracking] ([i].[PrimaryKey1], [i].[PrimaryKey2], [create_scope_local_id], [local_create_peer_key], [local_create_peer_timestamp], [update_scope_local_id], [local_update_peer_key], [sync_row_is_tombstone], [last_change_datetime], [restore_timestamp], [i].[ID]) SELECT [i].[PrimaryKey1], [i].[PrimaryKey2], NULL, 0, @@DBTS+1, NULL, 0, 0, GETDATE(), NULL, [i].[ID] FR

header column not sync with the column data in EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate

i have a grid view and i use TemplateField.

when i am in ItemTemplate all the column (7 column) are label so it fit to the current screen

by when i use EditItemTemplate or InsertItemTemplate the coulmn don't fit the the current screen and

i have to use the ruler in order to see more information about the cell (which is ok - because in each cell i have a dropdownlist or long textbox)

but when i drag the ruler to the right size to see more information only the cells are moved but the header coulmn stay

Schema changes executed out of order; how do I sync schema + data changes?

Hi.  I've been having a problem with replication for some time now that I finally need to see if there's a better way to deal with.  My entire setup is SQL 2008; Standard on the server (publisher) and Express on the laptops (subscribers); I'm using Merge pull subscriptions and my situation is a lot like the classic travelling salesman example from the SQL docs (hence why I'm using Merge Pull).

Let's say I want to accomplish the following.  I have an existing database, with data in it, with Table A and Table B which have no relationship.  However, I'd like to do add a column, named Foo, to Table B which references the PK of Table A.  Furthermore, I'd like add a row to Table A, then make that the PK of that row the default value of the new column in Table B (all existing rows in B would have this value).  Finally, the new column in Table B must be set NOT NULL.

Normally, to do the above, I'd write a script like so to accomplish it:
a) Add row in Table A
b) Get ID of new row using @@Identity
c) Create column Foo in Table

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Dear gentlemen and ladies of the Microsoft Dynamic Data Team,

Mr. Steve Naughton says (and I hope so) that there might be chances that you read the posts published in this forum: I really hope so.

If that were the case then I am formally requesting to you in providing a "real answer" to my question:

I want to customize a dynamic data page (the details one) so I can have access to the data it has been already gathered from the end user UI (details.aspx) and use it to pass this same data to the following controls/pages that I am going to display next time to the end user.

For instance:

I have a screen with different types of data in it: texts, numbers, dates, check boxes, radio buttons and dropdownlists that has been filled with data by the end user. I want now to reset all fields exept the dropdownlist of which I'd like to keep the previously chosen values(the very same thing you do between dropdownlist of List.aspx ad Details.aspx). Even with FoxPro I could do that because data and controls were available there. It was as simple as setting carrying on to true.

I have found my

Microsoft Application Block for Data Access in .NET

Hi all,

I was rummaging the internet learning aspx and came across the concept of: Microsoft Application Block for Data Access in .NET

It seems great of course. The articles are all early 2003-5 such as

So the question is - is this tech still relevant and should I be using it?

Data accessors or Entity framework

The entlib 5 sugest me to use with data accessors for mapping data from database to my data objects (ORM).

But in .NET 3.5 and especially in .NET 4, I can use in entity framework as ORM methodology for data objects.

What data accessors uses advantages over the entity framework?

What differences that should be affect on my using decisions?
