Cannot create a connection to data source !!!! SSRS 2005

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I cannot get this error resolve either for myself or any users, and I'm actually part of the Admin group!  Furthermore, a user with whom I'm tring allow to view this report keeps getting prompted for their windows username and password.  I thought that since this datasource was set to Windows Authentification that it would just pass it through? I'm pulling my hair out at this point: Screen Shots: http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection.jpg http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection2.jpg http://www.webfound.net/datasource_connection3.jpg Also As far as I know, I've given sufficient permissions to the right logins and right users on my SQL Databases and related stored procs that the datasets (not datasource) run An error has occurred during report processing. I copied an old report and changed the data sources. The report works fine in the designer and on the report server. But when I run it from the server on which the database is located it gives me the following error. Works fine when I use 'Store credentials in report server'. tried anonymous login too. Doesnt work.

  • An error has occurred during report processing.
    • Cannot create a connection to data source '<name of my datasource>'.

SSIS as data source in SSRS connection string

I have a connection string

="/f c:\test\test2\test2\package.dtsx /set \package.variables[User::varfil].Value;" & Parameters!varempid.Value

but its not returning any results. I need a valid connection string.

Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user: BUT not for all reports!

SQL Server 2008 using Report Builder v2.0  (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 10.0.2531.0)

We have several reporting service apps with many reports in each one. There is a set of 4 reports that all report on similar info (but grouped differently) that can be run by me and other network administrators but not any "regular" users. On these reports only, they are getting "Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user...". As I've said there are other reports that regular users can run just fine!? ALL reports use the same Shared Connection Data Source on the server that is set up as Windows Integrated Security. The Data Source's Security allows Domain Users to browse.

I've uploaded a test report to SSRS whos SQL is "SELECT 'test' as testField" and that's it: and is connected to this same Data Source and users still get the Login Failed error... even tried creating and using a new Data Source that points to the same SQL Server DB to no avail. Examining the rdl's XML doesn't reveal anything either.

Reporting Server is a different machine than the SQL Server DB holding the data.

The only clue is that working reports were created a year before now.

Data source not found issue in subscribed report (subscribed in ssrs 2005) , with shared data source

Recently we have upgraded from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008. Following is the issue am facing in some reports in SSRS 2008. More details are below. Any solution/ cause for the issue would be of great help.

 1) Reports having issue are the ones which were deployed in SSRS 2005 through SUBSCRIPTION (Listed under My Subscriptions) and now tried to view in SSRS 2008.

2) The reports use a shared data source with name ‘Test Center’

3) After upgrading to 2008 and when we try to open the report data source not found error is thrown. “An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. The data source ‘Test_Center’ cannot be found". Why does it have ‘_’ added in the data source name !!

4) When we go to the report Properties – Data sources and check the path of the shared data source, the path is correct and the data source do exists in the path.

5) If we go to report Properties – General – Report Definition – select Edit and save the RDL. Immediately select Update and browse the saved RDL and upload. The report works fine. However the data source reference still remains same.

6) Also if we deploy a report fresh referring the same data source, that too runs fine with no issues.

Multivalued parameter & Data driven subscription for SSRS 2005

I need to create data driven subscription for our reports. Most our reports have multi valued parameters (7-12 parameters with at least 4-5 with multiple values)and need to be send to a users between the range of 25-200. So standard subscription is really not a choice.I have gone through most of the threads before. Question 1:Does any one have a solution for the SSRS 2005 regarding passing mutiple values for a parameter for the Data subscription table. If yes, could you please share the information. Question 2:I found some solutions using the SOAP API. Can any one explain that in detail- how we can do it ?Reference:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/8ab615b4-1373-4258-bf49-c2843cfea8e9/http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=516735&SiteID=1 Question 3:Here is the other solution I found in one of the postsApparently passing in values like {A, B, C} only works when you configure the parameter values not to come from a dataset so that SSRS doesnt check for ValidValues.Reference: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/b2c50aea-2032-4025-a155-306c00fcb856/Any commends about this solution? Thanks

Choosing the data source dynamically in ssrs

I have a report which pulls data from different database and servers based on date parameters. For instance Server1 and Table1 has the most recent data for the past 3 months and Server2 and Table1 has the archived data, so if a user is issuing the startdate & enddate within the recent 3 months it has to use the datasource1 else datasource2 based on the date parameters. How do we do this in SSRS?

REST Connection Data Source is getting overriddeen by SPD 2010

Hi, I used a Linked Datasource consist of two REST Connection Data Source with the credentials saving with the data source. The first time i add the Data View to the Web Part Zone everything is fine and the data is shown fine but the moment i save it and close the aspx page and open it again, SPD overrides and adds some of the attributes in the DataSources tag, which makes it giving an error saying connection problem and if i copy paste the original Datasource tag with the values it works fine. SSRS 2008 - Data Source cannot be found in Preview

Hello; Something weird is happening to me - Never happened before on 100's of reports using Shared Data Sources. I have a Shared data source defined and when I try to preview a new report, I get a message saying that "The data source 'ProjectList' cannot be found" When I created the dataset, I pointed it to the shared data source. I can preview the data when I run my query from query designer, so it's obviously seeing my shared data source. If I use an embedded data source, the report renders just fine. I'm using SSRS 2008R2 BIDS to develop the report - the data source is hosted from a SQL Server 2008R1 database. Anyone ever seens this? How'd you get out of it? ThanksThanks Ron...

Data Source Connection Help

Hi Guys,

After the report deployment to http://XX-sql01/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx. When I click on report I am getting following error message. I checked all the data source connections and password everything seems to be ok.

Can anyone shed some light please.

  • The current action cannot be completed. The user data source credentials do not meet the requirements to run this report. Either the user data source credentials are not stored in the report server database, or the user data source is configured not to require credentials but the unattended execution account is not specified. Create dynamic dropdown list when we export data to excel using SSRS.

Hi All,

I have assigned a work to create a report, that should render in excel with dropdown list. i.e. report should contain a input parameter as a table names, when user selects the table name, report should show only the field names of the selected table. Some of the field name have look up values that values should be displayed as dropdown when we export to excel.

Can any one have any idea how to proceed with this report?
