Hi im having the following error in the windows event viewer Object Cache: The super user account utilized by the cache is not configured. This can increase the number of cache misses, which causes the page requests to consume unneccesary system resources.  To configure the account use the following command 'stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname portalsuperuseraccount -propertyvalue account -url webappurl'. Outgoing mail server in Not Configured status!

Hi all,

We have one test SP 2010 server on our LAN, it's a standalone server. Everything is working as it should be, except Outgoing Mail setup. The thing is we point outgoing mail server to internal Exchange mail server. We have same configuration for our five MOSS 2007 servers, and they work flawlessly. On 2010 we have same settings from same network but with “not configured” status under Servers Services. What is difference between these two SP setups? Is there something else we needed to do after SP setup or…? Thanks in advance for tips and answers…

problem in configured timeout

This request operation sent to net.tcp://someshv-test:4905/SearchData did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:01:00).  The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout.  This may be because the service is still processing the operation or because the service was unable to send a reply message.  Please consider increasing the operation timeout (by casting the channel/proxy to IContextChannel and setting the OperationTimeout property) and ensure that the service is able to connect to the client.

Database mail configured, but mails not getting send?

I've configured Database mail, but mails are not getting sent. Checked BOL & various blogs and forums, I'm performing correct steps, using correct smtp server name & port.

DM mail log says:

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 19 (2010-10-22T07:24:21). Exception Message: Could not connect to mail server. (A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond <IP_ADD>:25).

On restarting SQL Agent, log says:

"Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" doesn't always copy the data when it's configured to do so

Can someone enlighten me on why this is happening? I have three instances of the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" in an SSIS package, each instance copies tables and data from a different source database. Two of the three copy the data without a problem, but one of them does not copy the data even though I have set the CopyData property = true.  And it does not give an error. The status at the end reports Success. Why is this happening?

How to get SharePoint file content from web applications with claims based authentication configured

I have custom web service developed (it is running out of sharepoint context but on the machine where sharepoint server 2010 is installed). This web service should get SharePoint file content using file URL and some specific user credentials. So in case user doesn't have access to the file some exception should be thrown. Otherwise content should be returned.

I am able to use next code:

using (System.Net.WebClient objWebClient = new System.Net.WebClient())
                    objWebClient.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain");
                    using (System.IO.BinaryReader file = new System.IO.BinaryReader(objWebClient.OpenRead("http://machine_name:10000/Shared%20Documents/some_file.txt")))

Jobs won't notify, but DBMail configured properly

I have DBMail configured properly.  I have also enabled it in the 'Alert System' section of the Properties on SQL Agent, and chosen the correct mail system and profile.  I am positive that I have everything configured correctly, because I have notifications working on 10+ other SQL Servers.

However, on this one particular SQL Server, the jobs won't send any notifications (success, failure, or completion).  I can get sp_send_dbmail to send emails, and I can also get test emails to send from the DBMail node in Object explorer.  I have also restarted SQL Agent after every change, but it doesn't help.

Also, We have pinged our exchange server from the SQL Server machine.  We have also opened up a TelNet session, just to be sure.  It appears that there is no problem with Exchange.  However, here is the error I'm getting from the DBMail logs:

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 2 (2010-08-10T15:35:39). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay). )

I find it hard to believe this error, due to the fact that the mail is working from xp_send_dbmail and

"this website has been configured to disallow editing with sharepoint designer"

Recently upgraded my WSS3.0 farm to Foundation 2010; the upgrade happend without any major drama however I am unable to open any site in Sharepoint Designer 2010, I get the "Web Site Editing is Disabled" / "this website has been configured to disallow editing with sharepoint designer" message.

I checked the usual suspects: ONET.XML, permissions and the "SharePoint Designer Settings" in 2010 Central Admin, they are all fine, I cannot explain this problem.

I tried on another Sharepoint Foundation front end, one that I installed from scratch (no upgrade) and it works fine.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Cheer, Vincent

What does the sqlcmd -L switch's "locally configured server computers" mean?

Now sure if this is the right place to post this but... I’m looking for each of the installed instances of SQL Server on my network. I have already been pointed to sqlcmd –L, which gives back a list of what are called “locally configured server computers,” but I don’t know what that means. Is a ‘server computer’ a machine running SQL Server—which is what I’m looking for—or can a machine be a ‘server computer’ without having anything to do with SQL Server.

If these “locally configured server computers” do turn out to be SQL Server machines is there any way to poll them to determine what flavor of SQL Server they are running? (I want the info in order to aid in the decision about whether or not to buy some kind of SQL Server multiple-user or volume deal with Microsoft.)
