Chart Tutorial

The AxisTitle class declares properties that define the common appearance settings of a title which is displayed by a particular axis.

Properties exposed via the AxisTitle class allow you to customize common title attributes, such as:

* the axis title's text (Title.Text),
* the color and font settings of the title's text (TitleBase.TextColor and TitleBase.Font),
* apply antialising (smoothing) to the title's text (TitleBase.Antialiasing),
* the alignment of the axis title (Alignment),
* the visibility of the axis title (TitleBase.Visible).

crystal report -visual studio 2008 dual axis chart (bar & line)

dear all,

i use crystal report integrated with  vs.2008, and i want to make chart with dual axis (bar & line).

i have used bar chart and input the data with 2 values..

then in chart options > template, i activated the dual axis..

my question is, how i can change the 2nd value with line chart not bar chart??

i'd tried to find the right settings in "chart options" but still can't find the solution.

for information in "chart options" there are 4 sub menu : template, general,titles,grid..

i read in a tutorial there's more sub menu called "series" in crystal report (stand alone version)..

is it possible doing it in Crystal Report VS. 2008?

please,, i need your advice and solution..

Thanx before..

Tablet PC: Achieve the Illusion of Handwriting on Paper When Using the Managed INK API

Creating the illusion of a pen writing on paper is no easy software task. Fortunately, the .NET Framework hosts Tablet PC extensions, which lets you create ink-aware applications for the Tablet PC. This API allows applications to draw strokes on the screen and perform a variety of tasks including document markup, storage, and transmission.This article shows you how to handle a couple of inking events as used in the InkClipboard sample. Later, it discusses how to avoid common pitfalls including too frequent redrawing, which causes the ink flow to lag behind the pen movements, diminishing the illusion of ink on paper.

Smart Cleanup: Achieve More Reliable Resource Management with Our Custom C++ Classes

Managing resources in C++ is not easy. When you're unsuccessful, your app can leak all kinds of resources including file system handles, database connections, and, of course, memory. Even in garbage-collected languages like Managed C++, resource management is difficult because garbage collection only deals with memory management, not the other resources that cause performance problems.In this article, the author describes the SmartAny template library he created, which uses a policy-based approach to dynamic resource management. Readers will learn how to use the SmartAny classes and policies to ensure the proper cleanup of their resources, be they files, OS handles, or native and unmanaged objects.

Chart X axis is in Time

My application work in this ways. I got a database collect data from 20 sensors. Database holds Temperature and DateTime data/Records from sensors. So i would like to make it whenever i view the chart, it will plot a line chart one by one according to the temperature and timestamp(DateTime). Which mean my X axis is a colleborate time on that particular date. Anyone did this before or advice ? Thanks.

I already design a in the way that the line chart will plot base on both dropdownlist, Sensor ID and Date. So it will work like whenever i select a Date or ID it will read the records from database table temperature.

How to create a custom Gantt Chart for SharePoint using VS

So I have been told you can't create a custom gantt chart using SharePoint Designer.  I don't believe that actually, there must be a way to create one from scratch using SPD and a Data View and editing the XSL directly....but assuming there is not..

Are there any articles that explain for a non-developer how to create a custom gantt chart for a SharePoint site using Visual Studio 2008?

Open Analytic Chart on New Page In Sharepoint

We have designed a Dashboard with single page

1. A Scorecard --Zone 1

2. Analytic Charts --Zone 2

When a person clicks on any of the KPI on Scorecard corrosponding Chart for that particular KPI is displayed in Zone 2.

So far So good

Now our client has come up with a requirement that

whenever he clicks a KPI the chart should open in a new browser window instead of Zone 2.

Is this possible in Performancepoint 2007 or Sharepoint 2007 if yes then how to accomplish this

Including Chart in ASP.NET 4

I have a web application that I built using .NET 2.0. I have loaded it into Visual Studio 2010 and changed the target .NET Framework to .NET Framework 4. I want to incorporate a Chart control into one of the pages. However, the Chart control does not show up in intellisense. In addition, when I compile the web application, I receive an error that says:

"Unknown server tag 'asp:Chart'."

This would imply to me that I have not set the target .NET Framework properly. My question is, what am I doing wrong? What am I overlooking? I want to include the new Chart control but I can't figure out how to do this

Thank you,

Help: Too many lines of code to achieve a simple goal: keep my NULL SQL values...

Hello all

What is the best way (best practice) to preserve my NULL SQL values in the database
during an insert/update operation (without receiving cast invalid errors)?
Also, how to display a string 'n/a' when a sql value is NULL?

My project is using FormView with Edit/Insert templates and classes to represent my tables

Goal1....: display 'n/a' when there are NULL SQL values in the database
Solution1: I am using ISNULL(field,'') in my store procedure for SELECT statements

Goal2....: if the fields are 'n/a', then save them back in the database as NULL
Solution2: on my insert/edit methods I am having to check the values being passed, i.e:

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@scope", SqlDbType.NVarChar, 50));

if (item.Scope == "n/a")
 cmd.Parameters["@scope"].Value = DBNull.Value;
 cmd.Parameters["@scope"].Value = item.Scope;

Not to mention that for SQL DateType fields when you use ISNULL(field,'') the return string is '1/1/1900 12:00:00 AM'
and I have to change the field value in every field that represents a date, i.e:

protected void FormView1_DataBound(object sender, Sy

using jquery tooltip with asp:Chart control

I'm trying to use qtip (jquery plugin) instead of the standard tooltip control provided for the asp:Chart. I think the best way to do this is with an img map, though I don't know how to implement it. Does anyone know how to implement the img map for an asp:Chart?

Adding a Chart to a Local Report

Dear All

I have created a report as a local report which looks like this:

I'm trying to add a chart to this report and I'd like it to display something like this (so sorry for the crude drawing):

It seems like it should be quite straight forward but I've tried dragging the fields into the chart all different ways and can't make it happen. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and here's what my list of fields from the dataset look like:

I thought ObservationYear would be the series and all the other fields would be the data but this doesn't work. It produces a chart like this which wasn't what I was hoping for:

Please could you help me understand what it is I'm doing wrong? I'm very grateful for any help/advice you might be able to provide.

Kind regards

Tooltip on SSRS Chart Bars and Columns

Is there any way to implement tooltip on bars and column of charts in sql reporting servies?

Stacked Column Chart: Workaround for busted InsertEmptyPoints

I had to struggle with this a bit so I'm gonna share what I figured out. To make a stacked column chart from a SqlDataSource you need to use DataBindCrossTable like this... CHART1.DataBindCrossTable(SqlDataSource1.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), "proceso_estado_nombre", "max_fecha_final", "valor", "") Now, each series created needs to be converted to StackedColumn type, which you do like this... For Each series As DataVisualization.Charting.Series In CHART1.Series    series.ChartType = DataVisualization.Charting.SeriesChartType.StackedColumnNext The problem at this point is that the chart wont work if you don't have the same number of points in each series and each set of points should have the same X values. So to fill in the empty points in each series you can use InsertEmptyPoints like this... CHART1.DataManipulator.InsertEmptyPoints(1, DataVisualization.Charting.IntervalType.Months, series.Name.ToString) However, when I did this I got inconsistent results. See below... <Series>    <Series Name="Terminado" Legend="Default" XValueType="Date" ChartType="StackedColumn" ChartArea="ChartArea1" ToolTip="Terminado: #VALY{C0}">      <Points>
