Job Execution times / statistics report ...

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
We have several sites (countries if you may call them) and each site has its own set of ERP databases (Progress database). We have designed ETL layers that are open and which can be invoked for each of these sites. On top of the ETL layers, we scheduled the SSIS packages via SQL jobs for each site and scheduled them to run at various times of the day based on the site operating hours. I want to now present the amount of time it takes to copy data from the ERP system into our SQL 2008 Staging and finally into our DataWarehouse. I can manually right click on the SQL jobs and get the timings, however, I want to automate this report so that we can look at it initially weekly and maybe monthly when things start to run smoothly. Any pointers or ideas? I know I can run SQL Profiler and capture the SQL behind this report, would it actually work? ThanksJagannathan Santhanam

IE cannot display the webpage during report execution

Hi. I have a problem with a report having some T-SQL and MDX queries. When I execute it during the working hours I have an error about that Internet Explorer cannot display the web page, but in the other hours the execution is completed successfully. I have a look inside RS log but I cannot find any errors; no timeout is set about report execution inside the Report Manager. Any ideas to solve this issue, please? Many thanks

Long execution times for Search pages even after 4th or 5th user has accessed the same page.

Hi Guys We have a Sharepoint 2010 farm with two NLB web fronts ends, a Index server and a two box SQL cluster. The same problem also occurs on a dev box which has Sharepoint 2010 and SQl server running on the same single box. When a user access the search or advanced search page we get long execution times of between 15 and 30 seconds.  The strange thing is that the user will have a slow response the first time, then they are fine for a period of an hour or two and then they hit the slow response again.  Below i have copied info from the developer dashboard.  Does anyone have a suggestion of where to start tackiling this issue. Multithreading application to launch SSRS report muliple times

Hello, First of all, I am not a .net programmer but fortunately/unfortunately I have to create a scenario where I have to make multiple calls to SSRS report server. Is there a way to create a multithread web application whose threads will call the reports from the report server? I know how to execute a report from .net web application but I don't know how to do it when I have to launch many instances of the same report simultaneously. I believe that by creating multiple threads, I can make each thread to execute same report on report server. Moreover, I should be able to change the no. of threads (no. of threads should be the parameter) at the start of each execution. Since I am primarily a SQL developer and have no practical experience of implementing threading in .net, can anyone please help me out here? Regards.

Cannot Deploy Reports to Report server - Times Out

I have SQL Server 2008 Developer SP1 on XP Pro SP3 to become familiar with its capabilities.  I installed the AdventureWorks sample database and was able to generate a cube, but I have not had the same success with reports.  I am trying to publish the sample reports to Report Server, but every report fails.  The errors says that the operation timed out.  However, the data sourse appears to publish correctly.  When I go to Report Manager, the data source is in the Data Sources folder and I see the AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports folder, but it's empty.  I tried loading the rdl file from within Report Manager, but it also fails.  Eventually, it gives me an empty dialog box for a username and password, but I configured Report Services to use a built-in account so I do not have a username or password to provide.  I have been searching forums for the past week, but cannot find anyone with a similar issue. Here is the portion of the log dealing with the deployment error: library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources/AdventureWorks2008). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44

Adding a table or view multiple times when building a query with BI Report Designer and Report Build

How can I add a table/view multiple times to a single query by using BI Report Designer or Report Builder 3.0? In Report Designer I managed (workaround) to add one table multiple times by creating multiple Named Queries and having the same SELECT. Still I don't know how to add one table multiple times in Report Builder 3.0.

Issue - The report execution has expired or cannot be found. (rsExecutionNotFound)

Hello Experts,

I am running a huge SSRS 2008 report (that returns 2 million records) and it gets rendered sometimes and sometimes it gives me an error,

"The report execution <some string> has expired or cannot be found. (rsExecutionNotFound)”.

When I see SQL Server log after this issue comes I see following message there;

"A significant part of sql server memory has been paged out. This may result in performance degradation. Duration: 300 seconds. Working set(KB): 97672, memory utilization 42%"

IMPORTANT point to note here is when I am running reports with 1 million records or smaller than that, then I am able to execute them successfully without any issue.

I am using SSRS 2008 64 bit, Win Server 2003 64 bit. RAM is 8GB.

Please help me to know what are these issue, are these two issues related and how to fix it?

RDLC report times out after exporting

I have a VS Studio 2008 application that uses the report viewer control in local mode. The session times out after a user exports a report in .pdf format. Can anyone suggest a remedy to this problem? Thanks

Multiple report execution is not in parallel

Hi everybody,

I experienced an issue with Sharepoint Foundation 2010. (Server 2008 and Sharepoint Foundation 2010 64bit)

When I use multiple Reportviewer Web parts on one page, the rendering (and most likely the Query itself) is not executed in parallel, i.e. every web part waits for its predecessor to finish.

I made two screenshots to show the difference in behavior (both are on the exact same hardware)

About the scheduling of a report execution

I need to exceute a SSRS 2005 report in batch with the SQL Server Agent. This report has some parameters. How can I do know to SQL Server Agent which are these parameters? I don't want to write the values in the settings of report subscription.

Is it possible to do to read a table containing the report parameters or to save to a table the parameters when the user launches the report in the report manager? Many thanks

Report Execution Time Out/Delayed

I have a report i have developed in Bids sourcing from AS cube. Whe I execute the report inside BIDS, i get the results within couple of seconds. But when i run the same report from Report Manager Site, It process for a long time and then generate the following error. Any ideas gues?

An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Dynamics AX Report call a function at the begin of report execution

I need a way to call a function at begin of execution of the report, and to call another function when execution ends.

I need to connect to SQL to call a stored procedure.

Valid Credentials for Report Execution Web Service

I've had an application running for some time which accesses reports via the reportingservices web service.   Recently I had a request to directly stream the reports for download rather than viewing them through the report viewer.  I facillitated this using the reportexecutionservice web service and in testing, everything went fine.  When deployed however, the downloads mysteriously failed to occur.

The issue traced to a 401 unauthorized error, which implies my network credentials were rejected.   Easy, right?  Well, the problem I'm having is that I'm using the same credentials for both the reportingservices web service and the reportexecutionservice web service and I had expected that what was sufficient for one was sufficient for the other.

The credentials I'm passing are for a user which is a member of the SQLServerReportServerUser group on the machine hosting the web service.  Is this insufficient to run the reportexecutionservice, and if so, what do I need to do to adjust the security permissions of this user to grant them access to reportexecutionservice?

Page expired after report execution

I have created a complex SSRS 2005 report that queries a large dwh and a SSAS 2005 cube. Now, when I launch the report, the rendering takes more two hours and when I click to navigate on a drill-down report I have an error about the page is expired.

Any idea to solve this issue? Thanks

Using ReportViewer.LocalReport.Render() method to export single report multiple times

I'm using the ReportViewer control on my .aspx page which displays a single report based on various user parameter selections.  Dropdown2 is dependent on the DropDown1 selection (i.e. the user selects Unit A from DropDown1 and that results in 10 selections under Dropdown2, or the user selects Unit B from DropDown1 and that results in 15 selections under DropDown2, and so on).  The user makes the selections, clicks the "Run Report" button, and the report displays as expected.  The user then can export to Excel or PDF

I've received a request to allow users to run the report for all possible selections and export to their desired format rather than having to run the report for each separate DropDown1 and DropDown2 selection.  So in other words, they don't even want to see the report on the screen, they just want to be able to click a button that runs the report for all possible parameter selections and export it to a single Excel or PDF document.

Does anyone have thoughts on how to best approach this?  Or is it even possible?  I know how to render a single report with parameters directly to PDF or Excel using the ReportViewer.LocalReport.Render() method, but I don't know how to render the same report multiple times to a single destination.

SSRS Report times out

I have a SSRS 2008 report.

Unfortunately the stored preceduure on which the report is based takes about 3 minutes to execute.

Sometimes, the report will run, other times it will time out.

I have even manually adjusted the report settings on Report Manager to 'Do not timeout report execution' and it still times out.

Thanks in advance for any asssistance:

Strategies to schedule a report execution in SSRS 2005

I have implemented in SSRS 2005 a main report and some drill-down report created as a separate rdl. These reports have a parameter set in order to execute them. I need to organize a schedule stratey. I think to create a table to contain these parameters, with each record for each valid parameter set. This table could have more one record and so it has to be possible to execute the reports more times. I think to create a schedule for the main report, and one schedule for each drill-down reports. If I have f.e. ten records in the parameter table, the main and the drill-down report should be executed ten times, isn't it? After the entire elaboration, I think to cancel the parameters record in the parameter table.

Moreover, if any records isn't present in the parameter table any executions shouldn't start and any errors shouldn't be generated.

Any helps to me to organize the right strategy in order to solve this issue, please? Many thanks.
