Rich Text in list forms & date picker

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, I was hoping that someone could help me on a few issues. I have created a custom list form in sharepoint designer to display the contents of my list in a nice format. I have also customised the edit form for the list. I am having a problem with special characters now showing up when they are being entered (the HTML does not seem to be parsed on the output). I would like to make a description field in my list edit form a rich text box, is this possible? This is the code I am using at the moment for the text box: <asp:TextBox runat="server" id="ff5{$Pos}" text="{@status}" textmode="multiline" __designer:bind="{ddwrt:DataBind('u',concat('ff5',$Pos),'Text','TextChanged','ID',ddwrt:EscapeDelims(string(@ID)),'@status')}" Width="600px" Height="100px" /> And this is the code that I am using on the display side of the list to show the status update: <xsl:value-of disable-output-escaping="yes" select="ddwrt:AutoNewLine(string(@status))" /> Is there code that I can use on the data entry side that will show a rich text box? Also then I will need to change the tag on the display end so it parses the HTML? In addition to this, is there specific code for a 'date picker' ? At the moment my date entry box is just a standard text box, is there code I can u

Query Sharepoint list, rich text columns returning HTML tags

Hi! So I have an issue that maybe someone of you have encountered as well. I am querying a Sharepoint list and creating a report from the data collected from this list. This all works fine except that one of the columns in this list is of the type "Multiple lines of text" and also supports "rich text" with different fonts, sizes and so on. This has the effect that the text returned from this column is wrapped in HTML tags that specifies how the text should be formatted. Naturally I do not want this HTML code to appear in my report so for now I have used custom code to do a string.replace and replaced for example <div></div> and <br> with "". However, this column also has url references to documents and these links shows up like this "/servername/site/subsite/Gemensamma%20dokument/Mwh.docx">http://servername/site/subsite/Gemensamma%20dokument/Mwh.docx There is some sort of double reference to the document that I guess like the HTML tags are embedded in the answer from the rich text column and this is not so easy to do a string replace on because the url varies with the different document and document names. My question really is if anyone of you have done a similar report that I am doing, and have encountered this fenomen with this sharepoint column and how you did to solve this? I have tried to creat

update list text or date value via sharepoint designer using JAVA

Hi All,

Bit of a noob question - but tried all sorts and can't get this to work - also first time i've ever used sharepoint.

(I'm using sharepoint designer 2007) I have a form, on the form i select a type (drop box choice) and it hides or displays a related field, I want to auto populate the field when it displays, below is the java i have currently.

Please advise how to populate (date field) with tommorows date, and also if it was a text field with the word "testdre"

<script type="text/javascript">
  function hideFieldsOnStart()
   //hide the control at start
   var control = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("input","TextField","Urgent Change Justifacation");
   //add an onchange event to the dropdown
   getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("select","DropDownChoice","Change Type").onchange = function() {ChangeEvent()};
  function ChangeEvent()
   //get the dropdown

Forms Library Changed event and Validation event returns empty string on date picker

Hi there,

I'm trying to do date validation on a date and time picker through code (i want to make sure that the date is later than today and that the next date is at least one day later than that).

But when i try to get the value in the chagned event, i keep getting empty string as value.

What am i doing wrong here??

This is the code:

public void LeaveRequestFrom_Changed(object sender, XmlEventArgs e)
      // Write your code here to change the main data source.
      XPathNavigator xroot = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
      XPathNavigator fromdate = xroot.SelectSingleNode(
        "/my:myFields/my:LeaveRequestFrom", NamespaceManager);

      if (fromdate.Value != "")
        //Make sure the from date is in the future
        if (DateTime.Parse(fromdate.Value) < DateTime.Today.AddDays(1))

"Unbound rich text box not supported by InfoPath Forms Services"

I downloaded the Issue Tracking template from office.microsoft.com. I opened it in InfoPath 2010, changed the template type to "Web Browser Form" and validated it. It keeps throwing the error "Unbound rich text box not supported by InfoPath Forms Services."

There is a Rich Text Control on the form, but it's bound to an XHTML field. I deleted the control and dragged the node back to the form - same error. I create a new XHTML node in the data source and dragged *that* to the form - same error.

Any idea what's going on here?

jQuery Date picker Implementation in ASP.NET

I've posted a wrapper ASP.NET around the jQuery.UI Datepickercontrol. This small client side calendar control is compact, looks nice and is very easy to use and I've added it some time back to my control library.

This is primarily an update for the jQuery.ui version, and so I spend a few hours or so cleaning it up which wasn't as easy as it could have been since the API has changed quite drastically from Marc's original implementation. The biggest changes have to do with the theming integration and the resulting explosion of related resources.

If you want to use this component you can check it out a sample and the code here:

Visual Studio .NET: Building Windows Forms Controls and Components with Rich Design-Time Features, P

This is the second of two articles discussing the extremely rich design-time features of the .NET Framework. Part 1 discussed the basics, showing you where to start and how to extend your control implementation through attributes and interfaces, as well as their effects on the property browser, code serialization, and other controls. Part 2 continues the journey by concentrating on design-time functionality that you can implement beyond your components and controls, including TypeConverters, UITypeEditors, and Designers. It would be impossible to cover everything you can do in two short articles, which is a testament to just how all-encompassing and flexible the design-time capability of the .NET Framework is.

Visual Studio .NET: Building Windows Forms Controls and Components with Rich Design-Time Features

Visual Studio .NET provides support for designing rich features into your controls and components, allowing you to set properties, set form placement, inherit from base classes, and much more. So how does Visual Studio .NET do all this? What does the Windows Forms designer do? What's the difference between a control and a component? How does Visual Studio integrate your controls so that they can access features of the .NET Framework?In this article, the authors answer these common questions by building a clock control and taking the reader along for the ride. In building the control, hosts and containers are illustrated, the property browser is explained, debugging is discussed, and a general overview of the design-time infrastructure is presented.

FormView Text Field Being Set by A Drop Down List

Hello, I have a FormView which is used to insert a record into a database.  Outside of this formview i have a drop down list, I want to grab the value from that drop down list and set one of the text fields within the formview to it's currently selected value.  I've tried the following code, but the dynamic categorytextbox line is what seems to not be working.

                    <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCategory" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True"
DataSourceID="SqlDataSourceCategory" DataTextField="CategoryName"
DataValueField="CategoryID" Width="200px">

                            <asp:TextBox ID="CategoryIDTextBox" runat="server"
Text='<%# Bind("CategoryID") %>' Visible="False" />

dynamic varCategory = ddlCategory.SelectedValue;
dynamic categoryTextBox = FormView1.FindControl("CategoryIDText

Picker returns nothing for BDC column in custom list

Playing with the BDC for the first time, running into some issues adding a Business Data column to a custom list.

I believe my ADF file is solid. I've been able to import that just fine and can use the application to drive various BDC-specific webparts (a Business Data List or Business Data Item, for example). It also seems to work when I manually enter information in my NewForm.aspx field and click the Check Names button (it verifies my entry and underlines it, creates link to profile when I view the list data).

If I try to use the picker, I get nothing. Enter a name I know is valid or a % and click the magnifying glass icon and I very briefly get the "Please Wait" message, then just an empty set with "Type into the search box above then press "Enter" to start your search" where my results should be.

Any pointers? Thanks.

Mission Impossible? Use Javascript to Disable a Multi-Line Rich Text Field

Hey Community,

Here's a tough one that I have struggled with and so far have not been able to find an answer for - how do you use Javascript to disable a multi-line rich text field.  I have customized a SP Edit form by adding a CEWP.  In the CEWP I have added the Javascript below (only a partial code sample provided) to disable several fields in the form.  The code works fine for single line text fields but it does not work for multi-line rich text fields.  Any suggestions?

<script language="javascript">
//This runs the function when the form first loads

//This locks the fields the users should not modify
function lockFields()
  var theInputTFTitle = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("Input","TextField","Title");
  theInputTFTitle.readOnly = true;
  theInputTFTitle.style.color = 'gray';
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputTFTitle.value);//for testing

   var theInputDDLReplyStatus = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("select","DropDownChoice","Reply Status");
  theInputDDLReplyStatus.disabled = true;
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputDDLReplyStatus.value);//for testing

Jquery date picker in ASP.NET Web user control does not work

Hello, I have the most frustrating problem and being new to JQuery does make it more difficult. I have an ASP.NET web user control with an ASP.NET box which I want to apply a JQuery date picker to, then of course I have server side code which takes the date and processes it etc. The date picker will not work. I can achieve a working JQuery date picker with an ASP.NET textbox if there is no user control involved, or within the user control I use a html text box instead, but once I add runat="server" to the text box, it does not work. Is there a way I can achieve this? (the web user control will be wrapped in an update panel too which at the moment will work with the html control/web user control without the server side functionality)
