Oulook.exe hangs when Domain User launches application through Interop windows 2003 sp2

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello,I have a problem using Interop.Outlook on a win2k3 sp2 server. For windows 2003 version prior to sp1 i could use a specific identity for application pool and i had no problems launching outlook.User was authenticated and delegated correclty. With sp2 the Outlook.exe process is launched by the domain user specified as identity (also visible on Task Manager Processes) but no exception or time out is ever thrown.  The only way that i can make this to work is when i set impersonate=true in web config (without setting userName and password as this would have exactly the same affect with the application pool identity). Are there any permissions that i can set to overcome this?Help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to create a Windows Application similar to facebook friend finder.exe in .NET. The steps I have followed to achieve this is as follows:

How to hide SQL Server password from user in an Windows Forms Application?

Using - VS 2005, SQL Server 2005 Express, Windows Forms Application

I am unable to find a way that hides the password to connect to database in case of a Windws Forms Application.

- app.config is accessible to the user, so connection strings an be read.

- app.config can't be encrypted as in case of ASP.NET applications

- hardcoding the password in the application in connectionstring still makes it possible to be discovered by a user

Deploying Web Application from VS.Net 10 to Windows Server 2003

I have built my site using VS.Net 2010 on my XP machine. I would like to deploy it to my server which is a Windows 2003 Server. I have tried to do it with FTP, but it keeps failing with the error that "Front Page Extensions are not installed on the web server". When I check the server the extensions were installed and I also checked IIS and the service for the extension is allowed. How can I get this done? I need to deploy my site urgently.

Your advise is welcome.

Sql 2008 on Windows 2008 domain error: windows nt user or group not found

I am running sql 2008 R2 and win 2008 R2 and simply trying to add a new domain user into sql, but I get the error above. What's weird is that when I do a check names from the add user or group window it finds the account I want to use. I've tried adding a different account, but I get the same issue--so its not the account. I've also tried running the create login t-sql command but it gives the same error. I've also tried disabling, via the gpedit.msc tool, the digitally encrypt or sign secure channel keys. But that did not work either.

I've got an x86 deployment which is targeted at x86 and works fine on 2003 server 32 bit.

Create Work flow application integrating with domain user and asp.net web pages

Hi, I am WF 4.0 learner. I want to create a work flow application where there will be a request web form to fill out the information lets say request for Books order. There will be couples of primary approver who can approve or reject that request. If approve by primary approver it goes to seconday or final approver who also can do approve or reject the request. Only after appove by secondary approver the flow will be successfully end.

In this flow, all users from the domain can request. some users will be primary approver and some are secondary approvers. Can we develop this scenario in WF 4.0? Your idea will be most welcomed. Thanks

Run windows application as another user

VS2010, C#,Win XP

I am trying to force an application to always run as another user. Even when the user double clicks the exe it should run as a specific other user on the system.

I tried switching the CurrentPrincipal value of the thread that the application runs on by taking the token from LogonUser. Although that did not return an error, it still did not seem to be running as the other spcified user.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0

Applications have special support in Windows Forms. For starters, you can manage and tailor your application's lifetime, and, when the work flow is disrupted by an unhandled exception, you can choose from several methods of response. Then, there are several application models that you can employ, including Single Document Interface (SDI) and Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications, each of which can support either multiple-instance or single-instance mode, the former the VS05 default and the latter requiring special consideration. All applications, however, can discover and use a wide variety of information about the system and environment they execute in.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0-Single-MDI Applications

Consider an MDI application like Microsoft Excel; files opened from the file system (by double-clicking) are all opened as separate child windows within the parent Excel window.7 For the first instance of an MDI application to open a new child window to display the file that was passed to the second instance of the application, the second instance must be able to communicate with the initial instance.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.
