Access Nested FormView Events

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi I have a main formview which contains another formview. In the second formview I have a section that needs to insert/update.   I want to access this formviews events for example I can access the main formviews item inserted event in the code behind: FVInvoiceHCPAgreement_ItemInserted I can't choose the nested formview events in the code behind ie. FVInvoicePaymentInfo_ItemInserted   I have tried adding the ItemInserted event in the .aspx page i.e. onItemInserted = "FVInvoicePaymentInfo_ItemInserted" but for the handles clause it can't see FVInvoicePaymentInfo.   Thanks.

How can i access my nested info?

I have a web service that returns information about master projects. Within the return i also get all of the sub project information. I have been using the Applications definition designer to create the ADF. It all works fine accept i cannot access the sup project information in any of the BDC web parts. All i get under the "Projects" variable is BDC.ProjectData[].

How can I access this data? I am using the standard SharePoint BDC web parts.

I have edited the XSL to dump out the xml being send and can see that instead of the projects section containing the expected information it says BDC.ProjectData[] along with another variable ___serializedId. So i suspect its an issue with my ADF but i am completly stuck.

Here is a sample of the web service return

    <MasterProjectTitle>PB test 1</MasterProjectTitle>
    <SupplierId />
    <Country />
    <MasterProjectClass>SNG Vehicle</MasterProjectClass>
    <IncoTerms />

Accessing master formview data from a nested detail formview?

Hi all, I would like to ask if it is possible to access data on a master FormView from a nested detail FormView. I have a main form (master) with several tabs (detail) and would like to display a label with text from main form that is hidden by the tab at the moment of editting. My asp page looks like this.<asp:FormView ID="fvwCustomer" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsCustomer" DefaultMode="Edit" DataKeyNames="CustomerID"> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="CompanyTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Company") %>' /> <asp:FormView ID="fvwContactPerson" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsContactPerson" DefaultMode="Edit" DataKeyNames="ContactPersonID"> <EditItemTemplate> <%-- I need to get the value Company from dsCustomer --%> <asp:Label ID="CompanyTextLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Company") %>' /> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:FormView> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:FormView>   Is it possible to get the value of the label CompanyTextLabel from CompanyTextBox using just ASP.NET expressions or something similar without writing c# code in

DropDownList in Formview has events masked

Hello all, I'm new to ASP.Net (using 2010 pro version) and I have a problem with ASP.NETthat is giving me fits trying to solve it. I am trying to catch the SelectedIndexChanged event on the ddlParent DropDownList and use it's SelectedValue in code behind to repopulate the ddlChild DropDownList.  I've distilled it down to some very simple test code and I'd appreciate some understanding of why this is not working as expected and what I should do to make it work (In VB please). I get the following compiler error: Compiler Error Message: BC30456: 'ddlParent_SelectedIndexChanged' is not a member of 'ASP.test_aspx'. Test Case code follows: <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="True" CodeBehind="Test.aspx.vb" Inherits="WebApplication2.Test" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head id="Head1" runat="server">    <title></title></head><body>    <form id="form1" runat="server">           <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlParent" runat="server"   &nbs

Nested control's events not firing in UserControl

Hello I have a weird issue. I have a user control which I load dynamically using LoadControl. In this UserControl I have a button with assigned OnClick event, but when I click that button, the event is not fired. I'm populating the user control in UpdatePanel's Load event (I invoke __dopostback from JS).

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="ServiceInput.ascx.cs"
Inherits="uPay.UserControls.ServiceInputs.ServiceInput" ViewStateMode="Disabled" %>
    <div class="PopupFoot">
        <asp:Button ID="btnAdd" CssClass="PopupADD" runat="server" OnClick="btnAdd_Click" />

    protected void btnAdd_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        //Method never gets called :/

 Here I load user control in the page

protected void ServicesUpdatePanel_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
        string arg = Request.Params.Get("__EVENTARGUMENT");
        if (arg == "ServiceInput")
            int serviceId;
            if (Int32.TryParse(hdnSelectedService.Value, out serviceId))
                using (Entities db = new Entities())

Subscribing to events from .NET COM component leads to access violation

I wrote a tiny COM component in C#.  The COM component fires an event, and I'm subscribing to the event in an MFC dialog app.  The event fires, and percolates up to the MFC app, and all seems fine.  But, when you exit the MFC app, an exception in mscorwks.dll generates this line in the Visual Studio Output window:

First-chance exception at 0x7006f877 in UseDotnetFormDllMfc.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xfeeefef6.

Just subscribing to the event seems to cause this.  If I skip AfxConnectionAdvise, then the exception does not occur.  I assume I'm doing something wrong on the C# side.  The C# code appears below.  Does anyone happen to know what might be going wrong?

using System;

using System.Collections.Generic;

using System.Text;

using System.Runtime.InteropServices;

namespace DotnetFormDll

    // Declare INMSInternalUIEvents as a COM event source

    public delegate void CancelDelegate();

    // Define event interface

        ComVisible(true), // This interface should be in the typelib (defines events)

how to access fields on a formview insert template from code behind

Nested Custom Controls Events not firing.

I have checked and could not find an exact problem like this so hope I didn't duplicate a post.

I have two custom controls. I have ControlA which can take multiple of itself and then ControlB which occurs only once per ControlA but no less. ControlA has a button to load an instance of ControlB and to display it. ControlB has TextBox's DropDownlist and Button who all need to fire events for it to accomplish its tasks.

1    <ctrl:ControlA Id="ca1" runat="server">
2       <ctrl:ControlA Id="ca2_1" runat="server">
3           <ctrl:ControlA Id="ca3_1" runat="server">
4               <ctrl:ControlB Id="cb3_1" runat="server">
5           </ctrl:ControlA>

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

WCF Tutorial - Events and Callbacks

we described how to make a very simple client/server application where clients would call functions on the server through a shared interface. In this tutorial, I'm going to expand that application to allow the server to execute functions on the client by using callbacks. Essentially, this is WCF's mechanism to allow events to be raised from the server to it's connected clients.

Delegates and events in c#.net

People often find it difficult to see the difference between events and delegates. C# doesn't help matters by allowing you to declare field-like events which are automatically backed by a delegate variable of the same name. This article aims to clarify the matter for you. Another source of confusion is the overloading of the term "delegate". Sometimes it is used to mean a delegate type, and at other times it can be used to mean an instance of a delegate type. I'll use "delegate type" and "delegate instance" to distinguish between them, and "delegate" when talking about the whole topic in a general sense.

Store and Display Images from MS Access Database Using C#

There is only the difference of coding syntax to stream the binary data of image content type to upload it into MS Access Database using C#/VB in ASP.Net 2.0

Namespaces required:-
using System.Data.OleDb;

OleDb is used to connect the web site forms with MS Access Database using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0

ASP.Net Upload Image to MS Access Database

As you learnt from the previous articles to upload image to the SQL Database in ASP.Net 2.0 and stream that image into the memory to retrieve it from the database and display it on the web page. In this article you will learn how to upload images to the MS Access database in ASP.Net 2.0

First of all create an Access Database and place it in the App_Data folder of ASP.Net web site project. Then create a table "tblImg" with the following fields:

Formview LinqData source not allowing updates

OK, I'm confused.  I've set up a formview with a Linqdata source to allow users to edit records.  When I run it, edit data and submit, it blows up and tells me "Linq datasource6  does not support the Select property when the Delete, Insert or Update operations are enabled."  I googled that warning and saw a couple of posts on this forum saying the problem is the slect statement has to be removed from the Linq data source for it to allow updates.

But if I remove the select statement then how do I show the user specific info on pageload?   plus I thought the two way databind was an advantge of the datasource control.

How to listen to events within a listview

I've got a listview and I've put a button control in one of the columns, I'm trying to figure out how I have listen to the button click within a certain row, but can't see the button in the dropdown for the IDs I can generate events for.

I'd like to get the primary key of the row that's been clicked on and then run a sql statement against it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Binding Nested Listviews in MVC ViewPage

I am a longtime .NET developer but for big applications and services.  This is my first asp.net project and I have chosen MVC.   I have a need for nesting a ListView within a ListView.  In this simple catalog app, I have EF 4 Entities that are Categories, SubCategories, ItemTypes, and Items.

My goal is to display a 5 column layout of SubCategories with their ItemTypes below them in a ViewPage.  I did just fine with it done out in C# as server directives such as:

    var subcats = Model.SubCategory.ToArray();
    var nrSubCats = subcats.Count();
    var rows = (nrSubCats/5) + (((nrSubCats % 5) > 0) ? 1 : 0);
    for (var row = 0; row < rows; row++)
    { %>
        <div style="width: 100%; float: left; clear: right;">
        var start = row * 5;
        for (var i = start; (i < start + 5) && (i < nrSubCats); i++)
        var subcat = subcats[i];
            <div style="float: left; clear: right; width: 20%; margin-left: 5;">
                <h2> <%:subcat.Name%></h2>
                    foreach (var its in subcat.ItemType)

MVC2 issue - Stuck. Trying to create a cms with nested partials

I am currently trying to display multiple items on a single page. I am not sure as to how to tackle this. What I have is a database table that has all the page data in. I have this run as a PagesController and this works fine. However what I would like to do is, if say the Products page is selected via the menu, I want to pull back not only the Products page html but also get all the products, and even be able to pull them through via category. I was trying to use a partial view, but I can't get it to work. The same would be for other pages, having partial views to display the other content, ie if Gallery is selected, the page html for Gallery shows and it then can push to a partial view that pulls all the gallery images from the gallery db table and so on.

Maybe I am tackling this the wrong way. I have the pages stored in the db to allow for a CMS system I have setup. Maybe I need to use models for all the other items(Products, Gallery, Videos and such) and use the partial for the page html?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am confused.

Wrong Account being used to access files - Help - No Impersonation

I run a simple .aspx website on a Windows Server 2008 machine.

There is NO impersonation, and System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name returns NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE, which it the account which the application pool runs. In my web.config, I have <authentication mode="Forms">.

I tried to test the security of the application and server by removing file permissions to the .aspx files. I was greatly worried when the website continued to run without problem (it should not have been able to read the .aspx files).

By turning on file level auditing, I discovered that the .aspx files were being read by the machine$ account (if the machine is called Serv1, then the files would be read by the Serv1$ account, which seems to have access to all files on the local machine).

Is this a security breach or is this behaviour by design ?

Please can somebody assist, as I am worried.
