How to turn off optimistic concurrency checking?

I have run into a problem with optimistic concurrency in my dynamic data application (where all relevant settings are at their default values); when I try to update or delete one of my tables, I see the following error:

 Exception type: ChangeConflictException
Exception message: Row not found or changed.

I am the only user of my database at the moment, so I can guarantee that the data both exists and has not been changed outside the application!

Various forums have suggested that the way to deal with this is to set the column attributes so that the concurrency checking is disabled; i.e.

[global::System.Data.Linq.Mapping.ColumnAttribute(Storage="_PropSurname", DbType="NVarChar(255)", UpdateCheck=UpdateCheck.Never)]

However, to do this manually through the Visual Studio designer will take me hours (I have a lot of tables) and if I then change the schema of one of the tables in the DB, won't I then have to do it all again?  I've tried editing the .designer.cs file directly but my changes are subsequently overwritten (as expected).

All suggestions gratefully received!

Checking if a URL Exists

I've got a HttpHandler which outputs XML to the client to play video, it outputs the url to the video, video name etc... Validates the request etc.

However sometimes when i upload new video the main URL doesn't pickup the file from the CDN so i have to use a different URL to go directly to one of the main servers.

For example the CDN url is:
One of the server urls is:

What i want to do is check to see if the file can be reached off the .net url before posting it back to the user.

if http://videos.****.net/ar/ar_1003_scene_1.ext response then
> post http://videos.****.net/ar/ar_1003_scene_1.ext to client
> post http://videos1.****.com/ar/ar_1003_scene_1.ext to client

I hope that makes sense.

I thought of doing a WebRequest/WebResponse but i don't want the file to come back, i just wanna know if its there or not. My site is on a single server while all the video is on a CDN.

(i can't post the url because it's NSFW)

Edit: Why do posts not auto format?!?

"Read Only" Access Error when checking in documents from outlook

We are accessing our sharepoint services 3.0 document library through outlook 2007.

We can open the files in word/excel etc, but when we go to check-in the document the application tells us that we only have read access to the document, and cant check the document back in to the server.

It works fine via the browser, the read only problem is only when checking out through outlook.

I have given all users full access and design access to the doc library.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Errors checking documents out

Dear all

I've recently had SharePoint set up and I've created my first shared document list. I changed the settings to switch on checking out and I'm now getting errors. The error occurs when I click OK on the 'you are about to open...' dialogue with 'edit' selected. The error comes up in a new box and it states 'object reference not set to an instance of an object'. When I click OK it gives a message stating I may not have permissions or that the file is currently checked out by someone else. I have permissions to the whole site so I don't think that is the problem, and I know for sure that the files are not checked out (i tested this by uploading a new file and trying to check it out).

Many thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

Checking SQL Server User Roles and Creating SQL Server Users using VB.NET

Hello gurus!Firstly I want to apologies if this question is out of place here.. if someone can direct me to the correct forumn great and Thanks!I have a VB.NET application which uses its own Backend Database (MSSQL Server). I need to distribute this application to sites where there will be an existing SQL Server. So I will need to Create the Database on this server. The Application includes methods for building the database on startup if not already connected to one. However the users windows logon may not have the correct permission to connect and create a Database on the Server. I have a DB Setup form in my application which asks for the Servname, Username, Password and Database name. I have catered for Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication within the form - the user makes the choice.Assuming they enter a Username and Password for SQL Server Athentication then I will be trying to connect using this user and create the database on the given server. The following is my outline logic:-                                                                  Create db Process                                                                             |                                                                             |                                                               Check Credentials                                                                   /

Send To function needs checking out of all copies?

I have set up two document libaries: for both check out is required for editing documents. I made a custom destination for the send to command from document library A to document library B. I created a document in library A and have sent it to document library B: so far so good. Now I am editing the original source document in document library A. After my edition, I checked it back in document library A. I try to send it back to document library B, but this fails: "Copying to the destination did not complete successfully". After investigating the log files (cause the error message is very unclear: it doesn't work to copy, but why is a mystery), I found out that the document in document library B needs to be checked out. So I checked out the copy in document library B, tried again the send to from document libary A to B and now it succeeds. My question: is this behaviour as expected? Because if you need to check out the copies first before being able to do the send to function, it will become very annoying if a certain source documents has been copied to various destinations. Moreover, the error message is very unclear, so it won't be very clear for end-users why this copy fails.

Checking for empty InArguments

I'm new to WF, just getting started on Team Build's build templates, and have a question: what's the best way for telling whether an InArgument is empty because it hasn't been set, or because an empty value has been provided? For instance, I'm writing an Attrib code activity that allows you to set the attributes on a file. If I have a read-only file, and use my Attrib activity to set its Archive attribute, I don't want the ReadOnly attribute being cleared unless I explicitly set its value to False in the activity. I can see this as being possible if I don't use AutoProperties, but does WF have any builtin mechanism for checking whether an InArgument has been set?
