import/export wizard in 2000 had lots of options.
I could copy databases without a care in the world. Including constraints, stored proc., AND the data, etc.
Now, with v2008, the wizard is dumbed down too much. It's a "stupid" copy function that fails on the first constraint it meets.
"Copy database.." is not an option here: it needs sysadmin on both source and destination server.
Re-adding the constraints manually is not an option either: the database is WAY too large.
I'm actually hoping there is a temporary bug in the import/export wizard. Each option (and you have THREE...) returns with a new error.
Googling, I found I am not alone:
This post is exactly my situation. Here's what his post says: (bolded key parts)
"Hi I'm trying to get used to sql server 2008 having been
forced to upgrade by my isp. I need to back up my key db on a weekly
remote schedule, so have been trying to use ssms to export data from my
remote db to a local copy. Firstly I created a new empty db on
the local machine. Then I scripted the structure of the db on the
remote machine and ran the resulting query on the local machin
I recently exported/imported an SP2010 site collection from Dev to Prod. The site collection had about 90 sites, which were all driven from a site template. Once the export/import had taken place, I created an additional 15 sites (in Prod), using the original
site template that was created in the Dev environment. Everything seemed to be working just fine, but I found an issue with the Picture Library Slideshow Web Parts (PLSWP) on all the sites that were created in Prod. Basically, I have a Picture Library, and
any pictures added to this library show up in the PLSWP. The original 80 site's PLSWP works fine, but the new 15 sites will not show the pictures through the PLSWP (the viewer just shows up blank). Here is the difference in the html output of the picture viewer:
PLSWP from Dev:

I'd like to export an non-MS MySQL database and re-import it into CRM but I'd like to keep the relationships (foreign keys) between tables in the MySQL database in the CRM system. Does anyone know the best way to do such a thing?
I hope this is the right place to ask.

After doing an stsadm export/import of a document library, all the document modified dates are changed to current date and modified by changed to the person who did the import. How do I retain the last modified dates and modified by values as in the source
library? I know we can preserve metatdata using the Manage content and structure GUI and saving as templates, but anyway to do it via stsadm?

My requirement is to export the list items in Pages library with its meta data i.e. Created Time and Modified Time.
I am trying Export Import code, but it does not import time. It imports the CreatedBy and ModifiedBY acuurately but createdTIme and Modified Time comes as current time, the time i run the import.
private static void ExportItems()
string exportFolder = @"C:\exports\";
string exportFileName = "Export_File.cmp";
using (SPSite site = new SPSite(sourceSiteUrl))
using (SPWeb oWeb = site.OpenWeb())
SPList oList = oWeb.Lists["Pages"];
SPListItem oItemA = oList.GetItemById(2480);
SPExportObject exportObject = new SPExportObject();
exportObject.Id = oItemA.UniqueId;
exportObject.Type = SPDeploymentObjectType.ListItem;
SPExportSettings exportSettings = new SPExportSettings();
exportSettings.LogExportObjectsTable = true;
exportSettings.LogFilePath = exportFolder + "Exportlog.log";
exportSettings.SiteUrl = sourceSiteUrl;
Whenever I try to import or export data using SQL Server Import And Export Wizard, everything is great until I click on the "Finish" button.
The wizard gets to the "Setting Source Connection" step and at 0% complete, I get the message "SQL Server Import and Export Wizard Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close." This happens every time I run the Wizard, whether it be from SSMS, BIDS,
or the file manager. It doesn't matter what type of database table/file I import to or export from.
If I select to Debug, I get this message: "Windows Has Triggered A Breakpoint In DTSWizard.exe. This may be due to a corruption of the heap, and indicates a bug in DTSWizard.exe or any of the DLL's it has loaded. The output window may have
more diagnostic information." Here is the output:

Here is what I need to figure out, any suggestions would really help. Thanks.
We have a db which is laid like hierachy style, so lets say we have a top level table of object, all other tales begin with an entry from object, so newobject would create an entry in object table and will have its own details, a further table could again be added to the newobject table and use the id from there to link itself to its parent. Object will link to many other tables that use its ID and inherit properties, you should start to get the picture.
All works fine in NHibernate as its the choice for this project. Heres where the issue is.
I need to be able to export a reocd from a db, say from newobject into xml this is easy as sql does this with the FOR XML command.
The result I end up with is what I want i.e
select * from object where objectid=1 for xml auto
all good so far
next I do
select * from newobject where objectid=1 for xml auto
again all good and gives me
