KB955706 failed to install on Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  During the completion of the installation, there was a Hotfix.exe error that said "A recently applied update, KB955706, failed to install.  Also, a message pops up to reboot the computer.  Does this mean that the Service Pack 3 installation was unsuccessful?  How do I fix this?

I have tried and tried unsuccessfully to get this download to install properly. I get no error message at all but it quite clearly is not working properly. This has all ready taken me hours and hours of my time with no success (after following the fixes mentioned on this site). I look forward to suggestions at to how to proceed that may actually work. Many thanks cdbc81

PS2007/MSSQL2008: Cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2

Hi folks, about 1,5 months ago I have set up a - 1 server - development environment for PS2007. I had installed all components on one Windows 2008 box. Everything worked fine, now I receive an error. •MOSS 2007 •SQL 2008 SP1 •MOPS 2007 SP2 I have done the additional installation for the cube building part according to this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285466(office.12).aspx Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (sqlncli.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2005_xmo.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backwards Compatibility Components (SQLServer2005_BC.msi) Everything worked fine. Cubes were able to be built.. everything was good. In order to have Reports built I added SSRS 2008 Reporting Services Addin for MOSS (rsSharePoint_x64) Business Intelligence Development Studio (=Visual Studio for MSSQL) No CUs have been added to this box. NOW, Cube creation fails with the error: ULS LOG: [CBS] ProjectServerOlapCubeGenerator status: Analysis Services session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server <IPADDRESS>. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Sertup Failed

Dear All, I could not install "Microsoft SQL Server 2005". I am getting in the stage of "SQL Services Database Services". I have unstalled "MSXML 6 Paser" also. My installation in getting stopped by giving the following message: The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online Topics, "How to: view SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually". If I cancel that and continue installing, then the installation stops.   Regards, Ganesh

Uable to successfully install SQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706)

After repeated attempts, I am unable to install the MSSQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706).  From Live Update, the installation initializes but then reports that it was unable to install.  The first couple of times I received Error Code 0x65B, but that doesn't come up any longer. I have ACT! Database version 2007 (9.0) and it is unable to access the database to open it because it uses the MSSQL??  Also, there used to be an MSSQL icon below in my system tray, but that no longer appears.  When I reboot it will be on briefly, but then goes away.. MS Customer Support has attempted to help (Case ID SRX1135612820) but now tell me that this is beyond their expertise.  They had me try to reload MMSQL 2005 but no change. Please help! Thanks!!  Terry

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) will not install no matter what

This is what I've been trying to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) for three days now. I have followed directions from the Microsoft web site and from the few who responded - nothing has worked. The last question I received yesterday was a response from asked if this is what I had: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/express.aspx

However, I'm not sure; therefore, I am listing what I do have. I don't know if anything listed below connects to that web address or not or even where to go to find it.

What I have on the computer is: Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (ENU) ,Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, Microsoft SQL Server Set Up Support Files (English),Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer. Therefore, I am wondering that since I don't downloaded any other Service Pack is why this one refuses to install. Thanks for your help and please put responses in plain English - not a computer wiz.

How do I install SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver

I'm an new bie to "SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver". I have downloaded SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver and extracted it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver\. Is the installation complete now? How can I use this driver from my application? If there is a step-by-step instruction on whether we need to run some scripts in SQL Server or to configure some system variables, it would be great. Thanks in advance for your time in this.Cheeeeerrzzzz! S@kthi http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlsakthi | http://twitter.com/PowerSakthi Mark as Answer if it helps. Login Failed for User "XXX" when login from a ETL machine for Sql Server 2005 SP2

Hi Guys, I have a straange issue with Login Failed errors coming intermittently probabaly twice in a week: I have a  production Database on Server A and we have Two ETL servers on Server B and Server C. Sometimes when the ETL's (SSIS) run from SERVER B I do get an error stating login failed for user "XXX" this user is a sql server user. And when I run the same package from Server C it does not give any error and runs smoothly. Both the packages uses the same configuration file to connect to the same database with the same user credentials. Also this error is not a frequent error but comes along once or twice in a weeK. Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know the root cause. Both servers have the same sql client version as well. All servers mentioned above are 64 bit windows 2003 servers. Raju
