KB955706 failed to install on Microsoft SQL Server 2005

I downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005. During the completion of the installation, there was a Hotfix.exe error that said "A recently applied update, KB955706, failed to install. Also, a message pops up to reboot the computer. Does this mean that the Service Pack 3 installation was unsuccessful? How do I fix this?

I have tried and tried unsuccessfully to get this download to install properly. I get no error message at all but it quite clearly is not working properly. This has all ready taken me hours and hours of my time with no success (after following the fixes mentioned on this site). I look forward to suggestions at to how to proceed that may actually work. I have tried several times to use Windows Update to install the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706) but it keeps failing.ÃÂ When I check the install history all I get is error code 0xD59

Hi folks, about 1,5 months ago I have set up a - 1 server - development environment for PS2007. I had installed all components on one Windows 2008 box. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Sertup Failed

Dear All, I could not install "Microsoft SQL Server 2005". I am getting in the stage of "SQL Services Database Services". I have unstalled "MSXML 6 Paser" also. My installation in getting stopped by giving the following message: The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online Topics, "How to: view SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually". Uable to successfully install SQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706)

After repeated attempts, I am unable to install the MSSQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706). From Live Update, the installation initializes but then reports that it was unable to install. The first couple of times I received Error Code 0x65B, but that doesn't come up any longer. I have ACT! Database version 2007 (9.0) and it is unable to access the database to open it because it uses the MSSQL?? Also, there used to be an MSSQL icon below in my system tray, but that no longer appears. When I reboot it will be on briefly, but then goes away.. MS Customer Support has attempted to help (Case ID SRX1135612820) but now tell me that this is beyond their expertise. They had me try to reload MMSQL 2005 but no change. Please help! Thanks!! Terry

Unable to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

I am not a techie but have been unable to install the update above. I don't know how to look at registry keys, etc. Is there an easy fix to this problem? Does it really matter if this update is installed?

I know this problem has been encountred by many others, but I have not seen a solution yet. There must be a simple way to fix it. If not I will stick with Apple.

1. I have tried the installation mutiple times with the same result.

2. I have tried a manual installation that also failed.

3. I have a windows XP with all the latest updates except this one.

4. If you have a solution please give detailed infomation on the fix so I can follow a known procedure to fix the problem.
