When will .NET 4 be on WSUS ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Despite posts like http://www.satter.org/2010/07/net-and-windows-update-june-2010.html. I still cannot seem to find .NET 4.0 Client Profile or above in the WSUS list. I thought this was already resolved. Is there any way for a developer to quickly check whether it is online ? Is there a date ? Is it a mistake and it should be there but my operation guys just wont find it ?

WSUS Role Install Failure

Ok, at my witts end.  I have searched the internet from one end to the other, and have not found what I am looking for, so here it goes.I want to install System Center, Configuration Manager on a 2008 R2, Data Center server.  As a pre-requisite, I need to install the Role for WSUS.  The first issue I encountered dealt with a bug, because I have a Windows 2000 DC, in my domain.  I found the patch and installed it.  Now, SQL is giving me an error, because it is trying to use the server credentials, to install the DB as Domain\Servername$, and returns the following in the logs:Msg 15401, Level 16, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1,  Line 1Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$' not found. Check the name again.Msg 15401, Level 16, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1,  Line 1Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$' not found. Check the name again.Msg 15410, Level 11, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1, Procedure sp_addrolemember, Line 75User or role 'DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$' does not exist in this database.Msg 0, Level 0, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1, Procedure spSetupLogin, Line 33Finished login creation phase.  The login name is: DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$Msg 0, Level 0, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1, Procedure spSetupLogin, Line 54Creating user...Msg 0, Level 0, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1, Procedure spSetupLogin, Line 59Finished user creation phase.  The user name i

.Net 3.5 Sp1 Install with WSUS

Hi All,

Can I install .Net 3.5 Sp1 on XP Sp3 machines using WSUS? If so what is the KB release? I can find all the older releases but not 3.5 Sp1.

If you can't install it that way, which is the best way to roll it out to 500+ machines? GPO

Cheers

I cannot instal Sharepoint 3.0 after WSUS 3.0 SP2

Hello

I cannot do it. When I launched "SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard " it faild. Server 2003 SP2 R2 (x64).

I've found solution on Windows Small Busines Server to use hotfix from KB 934790.

But when I run this hotfix I've got information that installator doesn't find necessary version (I thin WSS 3.0). But I installed WSS 3.0 (using Windows Internall Database).

So I cannot run "

Sharepoint Foundation server 2010 WSUS 3 on same server

This is a windows 2008 web edition server.  I have had WSUS 3 running for about 3 months with no issues.  I installed SFS2010 and it broke WSUS 3 self update.  Uninstalled SFS2010 and WSUS is working.   I assume it uses the same default site/port.   Nice if there was a check routine.   I am now looking for any SOP or whitepaper on the best method to do this.  This is a small shop with only about 25 users.

Thanks

Craig

Are any there any plans to offer the full.Net 4.0 version via WSUS?

From what I see, when you install the .4 client profile from WSUS its registers as 120MB in add/remove programs in Windows.  If you download and run dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe, it registers as 182MB.   The WSUS version is definitly incomplete because I've pushed this out to client machines via WSUS and they are having trouble using .net4 apps.  If they run the .exe manually on their machine, all is fine.   Is there any way to pull in the full version of .net4 into WSUS?  Thanks.
