How to measure WCF start up time ? ( WCF service .NET 3.5 hosted in IIS6 under win 2003 )

Hi ,   I have relative big and complex WCF (.net 3.5)service hosted in IIS 6 .  When IIS worker goes down , it takes a lot of time for service to wake up.  My question is how can I measure what exactly takes time ? Or its just service compilation time and nothing could be done here ? If I know what takes time I will try to optimize it .    Thanks.

WCF Service to be hosted on the server with multiple IP Address

Hello all,

I am new to WCF Service. Following is my scenario

I have got a Windows Server 2008 with two NIC ie. two IP Addresses

I have got Apache server running on 1 and IIS on 2.

Now when I publish the WCF service on my service and have explicitly set the iplisten for IIS to 2. Still I am not able to access the service.

One more observation the link which I get after publishing is "svcutil.exe http://servername/Webservice/Service.svc?wsdl "

I need to have IP Address instead of servername in above URL.

Because I think the servername is causing the confusion as both IP Address 1 and 2 point to it.

Please suggest what needs to be done

Thanks in Advance.

Deploying an .asmx Web Service on a Windows Server 2003 machine

Hi, I have created a WEb Service using Visual Studio 2008 on an XP PC. I have sucessfully deployed the web service and tested it correctly on my local machince. It is located at http://localhost/MAC/Service.asmx.

Now, what I want to do is deploy this Web Service on a server. The server is running Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I thought it was only a matter of copying the "UMACS" folder on my XP PC, which includes the Service.asmx, web.cong and service.cs files etc, and then copy this to the server and try to deploy it through IIS.

I have tried this but everytime I try to access http://localhost/MAC/Service.asmx like before, I get "Error 404: Web site cannot be found". I have done a lot of searching on this. I have enabled IIS apping use the command "c:WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\1.1.4322\aspnet_regiis.exe -i" but still this doesn't work.

Is there something else I need to do to deploy this web service?

In the IIS on the server, there is a "Web Service Extensions" section. Do I have to do something in here first to make it work?

WCF Data Service to Sharepoint returns items on my machine but not on server

In my ASP.NET 4.0 webapplication I have added a reference to our Sharepoint server.

I then present some items using

      Dim Context As New Data.SharePoint.DataITDataContext(New Uri("http://sp01/data/_vti_bin/listdata.svc"))
        Context.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials
        ASPxGridView1.DataSource = Context.Dokumentation.Where(Function(Item) Item.KundNr = customer.CustomerID).ToList

While running it locally on my development machine (Using Visual Studio 2010) everything works. But as soon as I publish it to the IIS, which happens to be the SharePoint server, I no longer see any records. No exception is thrown or anything, I just do'nt get any data.

Any ideas on why?

      Dim Context As New Data.SharePoint.DataITDataContext(New Uri("http://sp01/data/_vti_bin/listdata.svc"))
        Context.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials

Problem accessing a WCF IIS Hosted Service from another WCF IIS Hosted Service on the same server.

I get the error message

The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Negotiate'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM'.

when I access a WCF service hosted in IIS(A) from another WCF service hosted in IIS(B).

I am able to access A from the same service B hosted in a wpf forms app, then I do not get an error and function is OK.

Any hints ?

Server call client machine and pick data from client service.

HI All,

Does anyone have any opinions over the best ways to connect a server to client service over internet to get data on server website.

If you have any idea and solution then please feedback me . Thanks

Essential SQL Server Date, Time and DateTime Functions

The essential date and time functions that every SQL Server database should have to ensure that you can easily manipulate dates and times without the need for any formatting considerations at all.

Date/Time Conversions Using SQL Server

There are many instances when dates and times don't show up at your doorstep in the format you'd like it to be, nor does the output of a query fit the needs of the people viewing it. One option is to format the data in the application itself. Another option is to use the built-in functions SQL Server provides to format the date string for you.

Who would have believed that XML, such a seemingly trivial technology, could revolutionize an industry? It may have seemed like a long shot in the beginning, but the XML aficionados saw something special and pragmatic right away-a sort of duct tape for the world's information systems.

C++ and ATL: Use ATL Server Classes to Expose Your Unmanaged C++ Code as an XML Web Service

Throughout this issue, you'll read all about the promise of Web Services and how the .NET Framework enables Web Service development. Many people will also be building their Web Services atop C++ code and frameworks like ATL Server, particularly when performance is paramount. In this article, the authors show how fully functional Web Services are built using ATL Server and Visual Studio .NET. Beginning with unmanaged C++ classes, they add ATL attributes that make the code work over HTTP.
