WCF Routing service with Backup List not working with MSMQ

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
Hi I developed routing service for round robin routing. I added backup lists to this routing service in round robin pattern in config file. My configuration is as below. <services>       <service behaviorConfiguration="routingConfiguration" name="System.ServiceModel.Routing.RoutingService">         <host>           <baseAddresses>             <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost/FDPRoutingService/router"/>           </baseAddresses>         </host>         <!--Set up the inbound endpoints for the Routing Service-->         <!--first create the general router endpoint-->         <endpoint address="" binding="netTcpBinding"                   name="NetTcpBinding_IFDService" contract="System.ServiceModel.Routing.ISimplexDatagramRouter"/>       </service>     </services>  &nbs

asp.net ajax autocomplete + web service not working under iis (with asp.net 4 and routing)

I've set up a textbox with autocomplete, it works fine when i run is in visual studio, but when I deploy it to iis, the list items just do not appear.

I think it has something to do with the fact that I'm using clean routes (with asp.net 4 routing).

The code:

<asp:TextBox ID="City" runat="server" CssClass="propTextBoxValid"></asp:TextBox>
                            <asp:AutoCompleteExtender ID="City_AutoCompleteExtender" runat="server" MinimumPrefixLength="1"
                                Enabled="True" ServiceMethod="GetCityList" ServicePath="~/Main/Proposal/WebService/AutoComplete.asmx"
                                TargetControlID="City" CompletionInterval="10" EnableCaching="true" CompletionSetCount="20"
                                CompletionListCssClass="autocomplete_completionListElement" CompletionListItemCssClass="autocomplete_listItem"

Delete not working on List.aspx - out of box

I'am trying to use Dynamic data web site on my project. I have Visual Studio 2010 enf Framework 4.0. I create the default project with the wizard. I add my own Entity Data Model.

When I try to use the "delete" autogenerated button on List.aspx, on the table ServerSetting (see image below), I receive a null exception.  I have no custom code involved in this operation and cannot seem to determine what is Null.

Any help would be appreciated!

SharePoint Designer: insert custom list not working anymore

Suddenly sharepoint designer decided today that it doesn't want to insert a custom list form anymore...
To be more specific, it doesn't work anymore in a site that uses the Microsoft budgeting and tracking template. In a website that uses an out of the box template, it still works.

It did work before, because I did it in other websites using the same template (it's broken there as well now).

Why oh why does SharePoint refuse to do this now?
I searched google and here on the forums, but all I could find was some issues after installing SP1, but we did that already long time ago and it was still working after that. I checked with our infrastructure guys and they didn't install new updates they say.

I also tried the solutions listed here: http://blogs.msdn.com/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx
But they don't fix the problem.

So my problem is, I can go to Insert > SharePoint Controls > Custom List Form
I pick my list, content type and form type, I hit OK and... nothing happens.

Strange URL Routing Problem, participially working

I am setting up URL Routing on my existing project. I am not using mvc.

How can i fix this? Thank you for any helps.

Update SharePoint List item using UpdateListItem web service with javascript

I'm using the Custom_AddListMenuItems function in a CEWP to add a menu item to each list item to Archive that item. This is achieved by updating a choice field in the item to 'Archived'. I'm trying to do this using the web service UpdateListItem web service to update the item using Javascript, but I can not find the correct code that updates the list item. I'm using this code:     var ctx=currentCtx;     var ciid=currentItemID;     var xmlHttp=null;     if (confirm("Are you sure you want to Archive this item?"))     {         var soapRequest = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>'+             '<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">'+             '    <soap:Body>'+             '        <UpdateListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">'+

Ajax dropdown list not working

Dear All:I just implemented a simple Ajax drop down list. The problem I'm facing is that when I run the project I will not be able to select the values from drop down even though there are 4 values coming in. Here is my code:Default.aspx<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title>Untitled Page</title> <link href="StyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <div > Name:<asp:DropDownList ID="colorValue" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="colorValue_SelectedIndexChanged" ></asp:DropDownList> <ajaxToolkit:DropDownExtender ID="DropDownExtender1" runat="server" TargetControlID="colorValue" DropDownControlID="DropPanel" > </ajaxToolkit:DropD

Anyone got the SharePoint List Adapter working with SQL 2005?

Like the authors of some other similar posts, I cannot see the SharePoint list dataflow source and destination options after installing SharePointListAdaptersSetupForSqlServer2005.msi from codeplex.  The options do not appear in the SSIS Data Flow items tab within the "Choose Toolbox Items".  Anyone manage to figure this out? If i install it on my dev laptop - I get these options and can add them to my toolbox - however I have both SQL Server 2005 and 2008 on this machine.   On my 64 bit server however I only have SQL 2005 and nothing! I would love to use this as the last time i wrote a web service extraction is was a very unpleasant few days of my life. Ritchie

Remove items from a list literally not working as needed

This is why SharePoint drives me insane.  Everything I have been able to find on the web says I *can* programmatically remove list items from a list, all I have to do is a declining loop.  I have even copied verbatium several code examples found in this forum and on the web and every last one of them gives me a "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute." error in the Event log.  This is a C# Windows Form Application we want to use to remove a common announcement from any announcement list in our entire site (top down).  We can *add* it to every announcement list without issue (seperate code).  Can anyone point out to us the error in our code below? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using System.Text; using System.Reflection; using System.IO; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Xml; namespace RemoveAnnouncement { public partial class RAForm : Form { public RAForm() { InitializeComponent(); } private void removeAnnouncment_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { const string a = "Application"; try { if (tlsURL.Text.ToString() == "http://" || tlsURL.Text.ToString() == &qu

Error calling WCF service that is returning list.".Debugging resource strings are unavailable ......

Ok.this is just making me frustrated... Here is step by step of what I am trying to do (& not able to) 1. I am calling WCF service hosted in a SharePoint 2010 site from a silverlight app in same domain (So no cross doman I guess). 2. I use Linq to Sharepoint for querying the DB. 3. I am having a list "machines" in Sharepoint 2010 that is having a lookup column from Other list called "part" 4. My WCF method GetAllMachines() works perfectly well when it skips the lookup column "partname" & returns List of type machineitem. 5. But problem occurs when I add machineitemobject.parts.partsname in my Linq to Sharepoint query . My service gives the error not found Async_ExceptionOccurred] Arguments: Debugging resource strings are unavailable." 6. Note that return type of my Method is List<machinesitem> 7. The point to note here is that I use SPMETAL tool to generate the LINQ class that maps the lists . So When I try to query the lookup column it tries to add List item of the type class & that is what causing the error. Is it because I am not using datacontract in my service (but it returns the strings & all private members of machines list e.g. name,title etc) Is it making the attribute Serialisable will solve the error ??? I am kind of lost in it ...Plss help!!   Thanks

How to query for id's of the fields with List Data Retrival Services Query() web service

Since i marked a post as answer in my previous topic, it seems that people dont visit the topic anymore as they see it as "answered" while it actually is only partially answered. So i guess i have to ask again in a different topic.    I need to get data from Sharepoint Server (3.0 i belive) for my Integration Services project. For that i use Sharepoint's webservices. I've read tutorials and downloaded sample programs to talk to WSS web services. I realise i have two ways to get items in a list: Use Query() or GetListItems(). Problem is, GetListItems() has a mandatory "Row limit" field and i might have to import ALOT of fields, so i thought Query() is better for me.  But, when using GetListItems(), the WSS returns the ID of the fields (for example, for a field of type user, something like "395;Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich" is returned) but when using Query() for the same list, WSS returns only the field value ("Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich") without the ID. I need it to return the ID as well. How can i set it up, on my side or server side, so i would receive the ID's, not only the values of the fields that are actually linking to something by ID when i use Query() web service?

WCF Routing Service BindingConfiguration does not applied

Hi i am having issues working with the routing service All works fine Until one of the functions of the web service returned big amounts of data from the server, The status: I am having: 1. Silverlight application (client) 2. UI server (Contains the routing service) 3. Application Server (Contains the WCF Service which getting data from the database) The silverlight application is currently hosted both on the UI server and Application server. The services of the application server configured with the following: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BigServicesBinding" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" receiveTimeout="00:02:00" > <readerQuotas maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" maxDepth="2147483647" </binding> </basicHttpBinding> I have also set the routing service bindingConfiguration to this binding configuration. When running the silverlight application against the Application server - it works well When running the silverlight application against the UI Server when returnning big amount of data i am getting exception: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The remote server returned an

Cannot delete rows in a list via Lists web service's UpdateListItems-function, even though I am abl

Hi all, I'm trying to delete some rows in a SharePoint 2010 Foundation list via Lists.asmx -web service's UpdateListItems. The web service is called from BizTalk. I am able to create rows, but for some reason delete fails. I also use "GetListItems"-function without problems. The exception I get is Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException. The message is "Cannot access a closed Stream." The updates-element of the UpdateListItems-function is as follows (well, a part of it, the real one has more Method-elements, but you get the gist..): <Batch OnError="Continue" ListVersion="1"> <Method ID="1" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1900</Field> <Field name="IMEI">GFA-687</Field> </Method> <Method ID="2" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1901</Field> <Field name="IMEI">OVG-567</Field> </Method> <Method ID="3" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1902</Field> <Field name="IMEI">OXI-570</Field> </Method> </Batch> I've also tried that Batch without the IMEI-information, as well as with a valid ViewName. Why cannot I delete when I can clearly modify/create rows - what's up with th

List of Objects in Declarative Service

I am trying to create a WCF workflow service that accepts requests from a user to add a new user.  I want to add this "user to be approved" to a list of users List<PendingUsers> and wait until an approver approves one. Then the workflow will remove the approved user from the list and add it to the database. Requirements: 1. Pending users should not be added to the database, they should be maintained in a variable until approved. 2. The second ReceiveAndSendReply will return the list of all pending users.   I have created a service with a flowchart that has a flowchart variable that is the list of pending users. The problem is after each call it is lost. I am assuming the workflow is unloading. Is there another approach I can take or some way to keep the List of Users from unloading between calls.

How to use SharePoint 2007 list data in Reporting Service (Visual Studio) 2008?

Jeez - I have been googling left and right, and tried all the suggestions. No luck in getting it to work. I am using Reporting Service 2008 tools in my VS2008, trying to create a simple report using SharePoint 2007 data (from a simple list). Here is what I've been doing: Created a simple SharePoint list in a test site - only one column (Title) with one record of data. Started Visual Studio 2008 and created a new Report Server Project Wizard project. I named the data source "dsTest". Type: "XML". As connection string I used: http://site/subsite/subsite/_vti_bin/lists.asmx. Credentials: "Use Windows Authentication (Integrated Security)". Clicked Next and arrived at the "Design the Query" form. I entered this in the Query string box: <Query> <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems" /> <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction> </Query> Clicking Next I get this error: An error occurred while the query design method was being saved. Failed to execute web request for the specified URL. Soap Fault: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown. Now if I view the Details when trying it inside the Query Builder I get this: <errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.mi

WCF Service not working with ToolkitScriptManager

Back in the "old days" one would use the <asp:ScriptManager></asp:ScriptManager> and <asp:ServiceReferenc /> to allow for WCF Service integration into javascript on web forms.  Example: <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">     <Services>         <asp:ServiceReference Path="~/Services/Service1.svc" />     </Services> </asp:ScriptManager> Now we are to use the <AjaxControlToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager></AjaxControlToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager> to accomplish the same task, but this doesn't seem to be working. Example: <AjaxControlToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server">     <Services>        <asp:ServiceReference Path="~/Services/Service1.svc" />     </Services> </AjaxControlToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager> The former works. while the latter does not. Any suggestions? Visual Studio 2008 Professional .Net Framework 3.5 AJAX Toolkit 3.5.40412.0<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">    <Services>        <asp:ServiceReference Path="~/Services/Service1.svc" />&nb

SharePoint List Source and Destination BIDS adapters not working for our sharepoint instance

It was with great anticipation I installed the SharePoint List Source and Destination BIDS adapters (from CodePlex, http://sqlsrvintegrationsrv.codeplex.com/releases/view/17652). Unfortunately, the adapters are not working for our MOSS sharepoint instance.  We're a DOD (department of defense) site, so the level of security may be higher than normal and may be affecting the adapters. The error message was lengthy and I couldn't copy it and paste here.  I did screen shots and put the complete error message at http://www.christianbahnsen.com/sharepoint_source_error_message.pdf If I can get this to work I think it would be very useful.  I'd played around with KPI Lists, but one cannot create an Indicator directly from SQL Server 2008 (cf. my related thread at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointbi/thread/bcc95f65-012e-4b8a-8850-b03fb0f16b0f).  I was hoping that these adapters would provide a work-around by populating sharepoint lists that could be the source for KPI Indicators. As always, thanks in advance for any assistance. Christian Bahnsen
