My client is relatively new to SharePoint, internally they 2 Web Applications deployed that are running on SharePoint 2007 for collaboration. The client also has created a multi-lingual internet site using the WCM features of SharePoint 2007, which
has not been publicly deployed. The client would like to build another internet site that will be accessible by its insurance brokers to allow the brokers to retrieve policy information currently stored in mainframes databases, VSAM files and some data
in SQL tables. As well, the brokers would be able to see company news published by content creators. The site should be multi-lingual (En+Fr). There are more requirements but for sake of keeping this short that are not that relevant. In
terms of SharePoint resources, they have no SharePoint developers on staff, they do have 2 individuals that have taken SharePoint 2007 administration training as well, they have have many experience .Net developers.
The client is hesitant to go with SharePoint 2010 as it has only been a few months and given Microsoft;s history, they would be more comfortable waiting for SP1 before considering SP 2010.
No for my question, given the limited requirements and resources that I have outlined, what would be your suggested choice of SharePoint 2010 or 2007 and why?
