Insufficient rights when configuring SSO

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
When I'm setting up SSO I get the following error: You do not have the rights to perform this operation. The service is started, the service account is a part of the local administrators group; dbcreator, securityadmin on the database; a member of the sharepoint farm administrators group.  I'm loooking at the docs at http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/841080ca-3e3b-4dbc-a081-43c29c76b3551033.mspx?mfr=true and I noticed the Central Administration site doesn't have a "Reader" group.  The event log shows the following: Type:  ErrorDate:  1/18/2007Time:  6:40:24 PMEvent:  6517Source:  Office SharePoint ServerCategory: SSOUser:  N/AComputer: SERVERNAMEDescription:User DOMAIN\myuser failed to configure the single sign-on server. The error returned was 0x80630005. Verify this account has sufficient permissions and try again. Any thoughts on cause/workaround? Thanks,Colin

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list

Resource File: Windows Media 9 Series Digital Rights Management

If you have an application that handles Windows Media content and you need an effective way to track content usage, Windows Media 9 Series now offers Digital Rights Management (DRM). It allows you to take advantage of the peer-to-peer distribution model and still redirect users back to your app once they have downloaded your content (prior to viewing).

Security in .NET: Enforce Code Access Rights with the Common Language Runtime

Component-based software is vulnerable to attack. Large numbers of DLLs that are not tightly controlled are at the heart of the problem. Code access security in the Common Language Runtime of the Microsoft .NET Framework addresses this common security hole. In this model, the CLR acts as the traffic cop to assemblies, keeping track of where they came from and what security restraints should be placed on them. Another way the .NET Framework addresses security is by providing preexisting classes which have built-in security. These are the classes that are invoked in .NET when performing risky operations such as reading and writing files, displaying dialog boxes, and so on. Of course, if a component calls unmanaged code, it can bypass code access security measures. This article covers these and other security issues.

insufficient result space to convert uniqueidentifier value to char

Hi guys,

       Look, I've been trying to insert new values while I create a new user with a createuserwizard, but I've been getting this error over and over again:

"insufficient result space to convert uniqueidentifier value to char"

       The code that does it is the following:

  protected void CreateUserWizard1_CreatedUser(object sender, EventArgs e)
TextBox UserNameTextBox = (TextBox)CreateUserWizardStep2.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("UserName");

SqlDataSource DataSource = (SqlDataSource)CreateUserWizardStep2.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("InsertExtraInfo");

MembershipUser User = Membership.GetUser(UserNameTextBox.Text);

object UserGUID = User.ProviderUserKey;

DataSource.InsertParameters.Add("UserId", UserGUID.ToString());

      But when I debug, the error is thrown before reaching the previous code, so I suppose the error is in the SqlDataSource, look:

      <asp:SqlDataSource ID="InsertExtraInfo" runat="server" Co

I received the following error...*****System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: There is insufficient free space on disk volume 'C:\' to create the database. The database requires 2739929088 additional free bytes, while only 801185792 bytes are available. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)*****I have looked at the solution recommended on this forum http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=79848 but I am still baffled as to why it says that I don't have enough disk space?  I ran the RESTORE FILELISTONLY command and it told me that the "size" was 1.4 GB and I've got 60GB left. I am starting to resolve that my .BAK is corrupt.  Are there any other reasons as to why I am unable to restore my backup?Thanks for any help in advance!

Check out button with only read rights

When a user has just read rights on a document library and he opens the document, he gets a checkout button at top. When he clicks it; the username and password is asked. He just can't login and he gets a "Cannot perform this operation. The file has been deleted or someone else has it checked out". Is there a solution to this problem? The user may not see the checkout button!!

Configuring sharepoint and IIS to talk to internal web apps

Hi all, i hope someone can help.I have a sharepoint applictaion for staff to access both internally and externally. I have set an IIS server up to host web apps that are frequently used by staff, this has an external IP. I want to use web parts in sharepoint so that staff can access these apps externally. However, I can configure the IIS server to allow anyone to access this and it works fine but obviously this isnt suitable as there is confidential data. if i try to tie the IIS box down then i get no access at all externally even through sharepoint. I guess what I'm asking is that does anyone know how to configure sharepoint to talk to my IIS box through the standard user login authentication whilst tying down my IIS server so that it isnt open to the outside world.# :)

Configuring AWE and SQL 2005 Memory ! Is this right ??

Hi All     I would appreciate any help from you all with regards to this:   I have a SQL 2005 standard installation with windows server 2003 enterprise Operating system The server has 7GB of memory available to it, but as I know SQL 2003 standard edition would make use of the total server memory available to it.   Here are the changes that I have made. (I have converted it all to GB for easy reading)   I added the 3GB switch to the boot.ini file I enabled AWE I set mini server memory to 5GB I set max server memory to 6GB I turned on Performance monitor and the Target server memory counter  = 6GB, the total server memory is also set to 6GB.   Now after all the changes above, the server seems to run slower and looking at task manager, the PF usage is around 6GB. If I change the max server memory, the PF usage shoots up again, it MAX server memory is set to 5GB, PF usage jumps to 5GB as well..   Can anyone please confirm that the changes I made were indeed correct and possibly educate me on the configuration and how to make the best use of server memory etc.   I look forward to hearing from you all.   Thanks

send email to all users with certain rights

Hello,  I'm using Sharepoint Designer and Foundation 2010. I am a new admin and appreciate all the help I can get.  Here's what I'm trying to do.   I have several business workflows that call for notifying the users of a particular site. Rather than set the workflow to email specific users or even a group of users, I'd like to set the workflow to email anyone within a certain rights level. For example, I want to notify all users with Contribute level rights whenever a new document is loaded or modified.    Is there a quick way to do this?Beth Singley PBM Graphics

Configuring the SSL for a Extranet Site

Hi, I have been reading about an error iam encountering.I have a 3 tier farm, with one site collection on http://portal.mycompany.com (Internal URL) and https://portal.mycompany.com, on the ISA Server i have made a SSL termination and on the MOSS I have this 2 AAM: -http://portal.mycompany.com -> Default -https://portal.mycompany.com -> Extranet But i havent extend my web application because i want to use the same host header, only that from intranet they must use HTTP and from internet HTTPS. The errors iam encountering are with the CEWP when editing from HTTPS(Cannot retrieve Properties) also creating new meeting areas from Outlook and check-out documents. this errors only happends when accesing through the ISA Server. When intranet everything works. The ISA Server is configured as the "Configure Reverse Proxy"  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261814(office.12).aspx. Dont know how to do this. Because what it only changes is the Protocol not the URL. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks!
