Building Web Services to provide enterprise-level solutions is only the first step. You need to take care of the infrastructure aspects of your solution as well, including provisioning, billing, security, and reporting. We have Usage Analysis enabled on our employee portal farm. The SSP in this farm crawls all local SharePoint sites and one child farm. When we view search and query reports, one of the site collections (in a dedicated web app) is missing.
All other web apps/site collections appear in the search/query reports. The missing site collection is using the standard search pages and web parts - no customization with the object model that might break usage logging.
Has anyone else ran into this or know the solution?
Usage analysis processing is enable for my farm in both Central Administration and in the SSP.
I've checked TImer Job Status and the three timer jobs responsible for doing the log analsis are all running.
I've also checked the log file locations and the log files are being generated.
Yet when I browse the "Site collection usage summary" report (SpUsageSite.aspx) I get the following:
No data is available for this report. Usage analysis might have been enabled only recently, or there might have been insufficient usage to result in any values for the report.
My farm is running 2007 Enterprise SP2 (126.96.36.19921).
Can someone confirm if this issue was fixed with one of the CU's that were issues post-SP2?
Does anyone know if the Site Collection Usage Report includes activity that occurs from Outlook? For example, if a user contributes to a discussion board without ever physically touching the site or if the user just reads list content from Outlook,
is this included?

The service which runs and collects the log files for the Usage Analysis report was disabled for some reason. We have it re-activated but the logs for when it was down were not processed. How do we re-process those older logs?

I just virtualized(vmware) both front and backend server for Sharepoint 2007 . The issue I'm having is that my Sharepoint Site Usage pages are no longer showing results.

When we go to a subsite of a web application, we get the message: "No data is available for this report. Usage analysis might have been enabled recently, or there might have been insufficient usage to report in any values for the report"
We have followed the instructions to configure the site usage reports on the farm and have checked to see whether the reports feature is activated etc. We do have the logs folder location at default path and have ensured the wss_adm groups have the appropriate
permission. We also have logs turned on at the iis web app area.
This problem is farm wide and occurs on the different web applications we have in the farm.

I have a site, in a site collection (obviously) using MOSS2007. The usage reports are very low. Yesterday it claims only two users visited. Seeing that this site has the "Daily Dilbert" I was sure that this was wrong.
A quick look at yesterday's log file shows shed loads - I got up to 20 users before getting half way through the file. Many of those users don't show on th user list either.
All the settings look OK - something is obviusly being registered - the Landing Page (the one with the Dilbert) has some hits against it - just not nearly as many as the hard logs say.
It means I have lost confidence in the usage reports across the site collection now!
Please can you help out in this issue as this is something critical. Thanks much in advance.
when user clicks site usage reports (site actions > site settings) displays error as unknown error, and user is admin for the site.
This is on particular site. This problem is only for one user and rest of the users able to get the reports when hits on site usage reports.

Is there any way to display Site Usage reports that SharePoint 2010 provides out of box under Site Collection in a custom page using Custom or any OOB web part? We tried to make use of Web Analytics report, which does not allow us to display reports generated
by SharePoint, however it has its own algorithm.
Please let us know if some one tried in this direction.

I've been able to program Usage Analysis Logging And Processing in WSS: loaded assemblies and then - eg
#configure usage logging settings
$usageSettings.LoggingEnabled = $true
$usageSettings.numberlogfiles = 1
$usageSettings.LogFilesDirectory = $logDirectory
$usageSettings.UsageProcessingEnabled = $true
$usageSettings.SetProcessingInterval(0, 0, 23, 59)
This works but I'm stuck now on how to do the next bit - which is to enable Usage Reporting in the SSP part of Central Administration.

How can I track the users who visit the site using Log file. I want to automate the same. We have deployed around 10 websites on the web server which include .net and Flex applications. I want to make the report of site usage. Would it be possible to do the same using log files?
