ModalPopUp not rendering properly

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hey  folks, Quick Question. Whenever you have  something like this: MsgBox("Message before page load") Response.Redirect("xyz.aspx") The message box pops up and when you click ok in messagebox then you get redirected to xyz page. I am using Ajaxmodalpopupexntender instead of Message box which loads a UserControl into it.  After the popup I have response.redirect. Now, my modalpop doesn't render on to the screen before redirect, waiting for Ok button to be clicked and then get redirected. It directly gets redirected to the xyz page without loading the popup. Please tell me how do I stop this modalpop before page gets redirected.   Thanks

Dundas Web Chart not rendering properly

Hi all,

Have any of you used Dundas Chart for .Net within SharePoint? I'm aware that there is a product called Dundas Chart for SP in the market, but I have to work with what I've got, and that is trying to integrate the normal .Net components into a SharePoint site.

I've added the DundasWebChart assembly as a safe control and also added the assembly reference to the web.config. I'm NOT getting the "couldn't not find assembly... " nor the "is not safe..." at least not any more. All I'm getting is a big red X icon where the chart is supposed to show. Like when a page points to an image that doesn't exist.

Am I missing something in the web.config, or any special rendering code? Any ideas?

my requiredFieldvalidator is not working properly in my modalpopup

dear all, my requiredfieldvalidator is screwing up my ok button in my modalpopup and I dont know why. In otherwords, once I include my requiredfieldvalidator and the user clicks ok in the modalpopup, the ok doesnt get fired. see my code below.

<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" autogeneratecolumns = "false"
DataKeyNames = "ID_NUMBER, ID_QUANTITY"  >
<asp:BoundField DataField = "ID_NUMBER" HeaderText = "ID_NUMBER" SortExpression = "ID_NUMBER" />
<asp:BoundField DataField = "ID_QUANTITY" HeaderText = "ID_QUANTITY" SortExpression = "ID_QUANTITY" />
<asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-Wrap = "false">

<cc1:ModalPopupExtender ID = "reduceqtybox" runat = "server"
 TargetControlID = "btnshowpopup"
popupcontrolID = "pnlmodalpanel"

Rendering ASP.NET Script References into the Html Header

One thing that I've come to appreciate in control development in ASP.NET that use JavaScript is the ability to have more control over script and script include placement than ASP.NET provides natively. Specifically in ASP.NET you can use either the ClientScriptManager or ScriptManager to embed scripts and script references into pages via code.

Open ModalPopup dialog on page load

Is there a way to make a modal popup panel active on page load so that the user can't do anything until they deal with the popup dialog?

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                // Html Encode the cells

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

 I have two SQL Server instances installed.

 1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

Using Server-Side XSL for Early Rendering: Generating Frequently Accessed Data-Driven Web Pages in A

Dynamic data-driven pages have become the basis of many cutting-edge Web sites. Early render systems can provide better performance and maintainability for data-driven Web sites by generating frequently accessed pages that contain less-volatile information ahead of time. We'll show you an example of a server-side solution that uses Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) to merge data and layout information into HTML that is compatible with just about any modern Web browser. Using these techniques to render Web pages early can reduce the load on your database back end and increase performance for your users.

Problems Rendering Special Characters

Good afternoon ASP programmers,

I am creating an application that creates math problems for students.  I wish to use a special character for negation to differentiate it from the minus sign.  I am using the Unicode character U02c9.

This is a composite screen shot of two problems. The top one is rendered in Fire Fox and the bottom one in IE.  I'd like to know how to change my JavaScript so that IE is rendered like Fire Fox.  I have created variables that I use for my special characters.

var symMul= "×";
var symDiv= "÷";
var symNeg= "?";

Both IE & Fire Fox correctly render the symDiv and symMul symbols. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Rendering User Control content

I have a scenario where, the content is:
 ASP.NET Controls
      User Control
 ASP.NET Controls

The entire div code is rendered and is sent at a mail using the code:

Dim sw As New StringWriter()
Dim w As New HtmlTextWriter(sw)
Dim s As String = sw.GetStringBuilder().ToString()

This works fine except that the User Control does not get rendered.

Any way out, so that the User Control content is also rendered ?

ModalPopup/UpdatePanel from codebehind, inconsistent behavior onClick

First post bear with me please:

I have a simple form with a list of linkbuttons, each fires the same onclick event which sets an indicator image.  I have a dummy button with style="display:none" which I have set as the TargetControlID of the modal.

onClick event from the imagebutton, the modal is shown via modal.Show().  The cancel button inside the modalpopup fires an event which turns off the indicator image and hides the modal via modal.Hide().

The events fire perfectly, it's very simple!  Although after doing some testing I noticed the modalpopup is not presented after the 6-10th cycle of clicking the open event, then clicking cancel.  The grey background appears but it is behind the main panel and the modal is either presented behind this or is just simply not displaying.

I spent hours researching various methods, implemented the CancelControlID to see if it was somehow tied to my call of modal.Hide() that fails.

This occurs with an updatepanel only.  The behaviour is much cleaner this way, so I would hope to be able to implement this.  I have basically eliminated everything but these two events!  Please help

Razor. Conditional Rendering.

I am using Razor and I need to display a String or the view property value on the following condition:

@if(String.IsNullOrEmpty(View.Title)) { @("Default Title") } else { @View.Title }

This is working. But can I make this simpler?

I tried the following:

@String.IsNullOrEmpty(View.Title) ? @("Default Title") : @View.Title

This is not working ...

Debugger not loading properly and exiting

I am attempting to debug my Visual Studio 2005 project. I have Internet explorer 8 and it's running on IIS.

When I hit the "debug" button, a new Internet Explorer browser window opens and my ASP VB .NET application loads normally. However, Visual studio returns back to regular editting mode and I can hit the "debug" button again. No break points hit but my web page still runs and loads normally.

The Output screen use to show Web.Server(exit 0) but now it doesn't show anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been trying to find a solution for a while...
