Hi thanks for u help but this document http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171908(SQL.90).aspx i followed step by step but 2 issues still: 1)When trying to change the user account(when configuring my web synchronize for my publication)from the default account IUSR to my own account  an error  message appears: The program can not open the required dialog box because no location has been found.Close this message and try again 2) Im having problem setting up merge replication between SQL 2005 and SQL Compact Edition, I have done Merge replications several times before never ran into this problem... During setup for a new subscriber after I entered all required parameters, the subscription wizard does an initial data synchronization, and it fails at that point with error message of "Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not exist, access is denied because the SQL user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. Errors when interacting with WorkFlow generated tasks through ISA Server

I have a MOSs environment that I have published through ISA Server 2006 and i am getting really strange behavior whentrying to interact with WorkLFow generated tasks when I have connected through ISA. This also seems to affect InfoPath Forms Services. I was wondering if anyone out there is seeing any problems when using ISA Server to interact wih Forms or WorkFlows?

The error I get simply states:

the form cannot be submitted to the web server either because your computer is offline or because the host server is currently unavailable.

Any help would be appreciated.

net.tcp://localhost:80/MyService client/server errors while IIS is running - even though all Net.TCP

Hello, I am trying to create a simple WCF client/server solution in two Windows Forms projects, respectively.  I am using net.tcp binding on port 80 and have enabled the port sharing property.  My NET.TCP Port Sharing service is running.  I am using Windows 7 x64 and logged in as an administrator.  I've added my username to the smvchost configuration files, in both Framework and Framework 64 directories. I also have IIS running on port 80. However, there seems to be a conflict between net.tcp on port 80 and IIS on port 80 simultaneously.  My understanding was that the Net.TCP Port Sharing is supposed to be the solution for this very scenario. Here are the specific issues: 1.  I start the server in debug mode, which works fine.  I then try to connect with the client, and get the error: "You have tried to create a channel to a service that does not support .Net Framing.  It is possible that you are encountering an HTTP endpoint".  This seems to imply that the NET.TCP Port Sharing is not forwarding the request to my WCF server, and instead is encountering IIS.  This is the first problem. 2.  The second issue is that the Server starts fine in Visual Studio in debug mode, however when I try to run it as a compiled EXE (and right-click - run as admin) it errors "The TransportMana

SharePoint Server 2010 Search - not returning results but crawling without errors

I have created a Search Service Application on a SharePoint Server 2010 (RTM) Farm and used the default Content Source. I started a Full Crawl and it suceeded with no errors etc. I ran it a few times and no issues. But if I go to the Intranet Portal Web Appliaction and do a search for a document that would have been crawled it does not show up in search results...nothing does. I am not getting any errors in Event Log or ULS Logs relevant to Search. Permission Errors for Users on Home Page only of SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager

I have spent days now investigating this problem, so any help very much appreciated! I have a remote web server 2003 running SQL Server R2 Express Edition with Reporting Services installed. I use Report Builder 3.0 locally to build report. If I login via Internet to Report Manager Web Page as an administrator I can perform all the expected and required actions, creating new folders and assigning permissions for users etc. I have added a new user "ReportUser" as a Browser of a child folder. If ReportUser longs on to home page, he receives the all too familiar error: User 'XXXXXXXX\reportuser' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. However, if the user starts at the child folder of home page, and then logs in, he sees the expected page, and can run the report!  This is not very satisfactory. How can I allow user to see home page, without an error message, but not be allowed to click on any folders to which he is not entitled? I am now aware that SQL Server R2 Express Edition has many limitations compared with full Editions (fixed roles, cannot manage Report Service from Management Studio etc) , and many of the "solutions" offered on the web just do not apply.   John Walton

Data Driven Subscription problem - sub runs slowly, has 40 errors out of 300, but report server trac

I have two report servers and a single separate SQL Server 2008 server hosting the data source database and the report server catalogues. There is a data driven subscription that runs off a sproc that returns 300 rows with email addresses for this report to be emailed to. The report itself contains around 30 subreports each with its own sproc to retrieve data. As the report is executing there are long pauses between the times when emails are actually sent out, and the subscription status will finally end with something like "Done: 300 processed of 300 total; 40 errors." I am not sure how to go about troubleshooting this problem. Details: I kicked it off at (say) 2:00 PM. Within 3 minutes in the report server execution log I saw 300 entries. There were exactly 300 people who should receive reports, so the master report should have executed 300 times and sent out 300 emails. So this looked good in the execution log. But when I checked report manager's status page for the subscription it was listed as processing 50 out of 300... Then all activity stopped, about 15 minutes some more reports started emailing out, and now I see there are around 590 rows in the execution log and maybe 97 emails sent out... Then finally I get a grand total of 846 rows in the execution log and a grand total of 260 of 300 emails sent out with 40 errors so 260+40=300 exactly. The time betw

Server.transfer errors in VS2008 on Windows7

Getting several different errors trying to use server.transfer.  The most recent is

No http handler was found for request type 'POST'

on the line:

Test.aspx contains only an <h1>test</h1> tag.

Noticed someone mentioned having to use the Classic ASP Application pool.  Unfortunately that did not solve my problem.

Anyone know the hack for this?

Upgraded website to AJAX 3.5, I get js errors on production web server

I recently upgraded our website to include some AJAX 3.5 modal popup extenders.   The site is working fine on my development machine, unfortunately when I published it over to our production web server (running IIS6) I'm getting javascript errors every time a page containing one of these controls loads.  Here's what shows up in the Firefox Error Console:

Errors using SQLDMO on a 64-bit SQL Server client not returning descriptions.

I'm really hoping that someone can help me out here because I have been searching for days on why this is happening.  Here is the situation...

We have a vbscript that uses SQLDMO to issue updates to a database.  The script is written in such a way that if an error occurs, a log file is created with the Err.ID, Err.Description, etc.  This helps us to debug why the script failed.  The problem comes in when we try and run this script on a 64 bit client machine.  We end up getting no Err.Description at all and a completely different Err.ID.  We have the SQL Server 2005 backwards compatibility package installed and 2005 is updated to the latest service pack.

Here is a copy of the error we receive on the 32-bit box

SSIS Package Logging of Errors to Sql Server

SSIS 2008 R2

I’m a relative newbie to SSIS but a long time developer / dba.  I have developed several  packages that I execute from stored procedures, via the cmdshell,  and I want to capture any error messages that come from the actual execution.  Ideally I would check a sql table for any error results.  I found  SSIS > Logging on the Menu bar and created a Sql Server log (in the same database as I am executing the sp from).  In the Configure SSIS Logs, I created the appropriate entry on the Providers and Logs tab and on the details tab I selected only the OnError check box.  All well and good.  After an execution I find the sysssislog table in the system tables.  What I did not expect to see was the Begin Execution / End Execution rows for the package just executed.  I only want errors to show up however I have not yet tested an error situation.

Errors: 53 and 17 SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Have a SQL connection issue on a Windows Server 2008 R2 client.  Cannot connect to sql server using sql login or domain login.  Pings sql server and can access file share on sql server just fine.  Both sql login methods work fine from other machines.

I've seen a number of generic kb articles that describe various client related issues that don't apply (incorrect computer name, named instance etc).  Like I said I can connect to this sql server from other Windows Server 2008 machines just fine.     I was looking for the client Network utility, but apparently that's a legacy application that isn't a part of Server 2008 (if it is I can't find it).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

SQL Server has encountered 473 occurrence(s) of I/O requests errors

We're in the process of troubleshooting SQL I/O errors that are showing in the logs.  We have made some BIOS upgrades to the SAN and still seeing the errors.  I can see the error in every SAN attached database, the error is in all of them at the same date and time.  I have run profiler on our biggest database and I can see long query duration during the time of these errors.  Is there anything else I can check on the database side?

Connection errors from Terminal Server

Hi Everyone,
Hope someone can help. We are trying to get a application I wrote in VB to connect to a SQL Server 2008 database. The Terminal server in running on Windows Server 2003. The application was installed using the Add Program method through the control panel.
On the DB side we have SQL 2008. Name Pipes and TCP/IP are enabled. "Allow Remote connection" is enabled.
When the app is run the the terminal server I get the following error:
A network-related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to the server. (Provider: Named Pipes provider; Error 40 - could not open connection to SQL Server)

Is there something in Terminal server that would disable outbound connections to a DB? I can run the app from my desktop and it connects fine. Try to connect to a different SQL Server from the terminal server I get the same error message. The second DB works from another terminal server just fine. Why can't I connect through this terminal server. Thanks for any help.

Server errors making backup tough

I have an older SQL server, with a RAID 1 mirror...most of our company is dependent on the databases on the machine...so we are upgrading to a RAID 5 SQL server 2008 box. The problem is I have dying sectors on the old machine. It will only make backups locally, if I try to copy them to the network, mirror them or use a tape drive for a backup, it bombs the machine and forces a reboot...thus killing the backup.

Any help on getting this info safely off this machine so I can get it loaded on the new box would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! --Grainger
