In SSRS 2008, after export to Excel report loses nested visibility groups

I have a report  created in SSRS 2005 which is running on our new SSRS 2008 box.  It has 3 nested levels of visibility so the recipient can click the twist tie to view different levels of detail.  Each Zone has many Districts and each District has many Stores.  The report renders displaying the summary of the Zones.  If you click on the twist tie on the Zone it opens up a list of Districts.  If you click on the twist tie on a district, it opens up a list of stores.  If you click on the twist tie on one of the stores, you get the actual details of all repair orders submitted for that store.

The report renders fine in report manager.  The report has a subscription set up to run monthly that exports the results to Excel and emails them to our client.  The problem is when the report exports to Excel the twist tie exists on the Zone, but it missing on each of the Districts and Stores.  The client is not happy about this.  This report contains large amounts of data and is very combersome without the visibility grouping working properly in Excel.

I tried converting the report to SSRS 2008, but that did not solve my problem.

Is there anyway to fix the export process to Excel?

P.S. I tried to upload the code, but it caused my question to be too many characters

LDAP nested groups filter

Hi all,

In my organization we use nested groups.

For a particular usage, we have a group (let's assume that the group name "kuku"), and the names of all the nested groups under it contains "kuku" as well.

We may assume that no other group in the LDAP has "kuku" in the name.

I need to create a filter which will return all the users which belong to one of the "kuku"s group.

Obviously, using this filter will bring only the head kukus

(&(&(objectclass=user)(objectclass=person))(memberOf=CN=kuku,cn=.rest of the group DN.))

How can I use wild card to fetch all users which belong to any kuku?

For example: (&(&(objectclass=user)(objectclass=person))(memberOf=CN=.*kuku.*))

Are nested Windows groups supported as SQL Server 2008 logins?

I am attempting to configure a new SQL Server 2008 instance to use Windows authentication, and am encountering a problem when adding Windows domain groups as logins. Specifically, Windows users who are direct members of a Windows group that has been added as a login behave normally. Users who are members of groups that are, in turn, members of other groups which have been added as logins are unable to connect.

In a simplified example, consider the following:

Group: MYDOMAIN\DataViewers
  Member: MYDOMAIN\Hazel
  Member: MYDOMAIN\Seamus

Group: MYDOMAIN\DataEditors
  Member: MYDOMAIN\Vaughan
  Member: MYDOMAIN\Liesel

Group: MYDOMAIN\AllUsers
  Member: MYDOMAIN\DataViewers <-- This is a group
  Member: MYDOMAIN\DataEditors <-- This is a group

If I add the MYDOMAIN\AllUsers group as a SQL Server login (and map it to some databases), none of the end users (i.e. Hazel, Seamus, Vaughan, Liesel) can connect. If I add the MYDOMAIN\DataViewers or MYDOMAIN\DataEditors groups as logins, though, their members can connect. Similarly, if I add an end user directly to the AllUsers group, they can connect normally.

It appears as if the nested group model I had envisioned is not supported in SQL Server 2008, but I have been unable to find any documents that state this conclusively. Therefore, my q

SSRS Column Groups

We are developing a report based upon an RS model which requires a specific format for the output i.e.

C_A, C_B, C_C (Column group on ID, query filter where ID between 1 and 14).

The issue we have come across and are unsure how to progress is for a specific date it is possible to have a maximum ID of 6, per say.  How is it possible to make the column group create columns for 7 - 14 when no ID values exist in the RS model for a given date?

Nested AD Groups

I am trying to hide some content on an InfoPath 2007 web form. I have done this before using GetCommonMemberships (If all occurrences of DisplayName are not equal to "GroupName"). However, this time the AD group I have been supplied to use is a group of groups and therefore my standard way is not working. It there a way to see if any of the groups returned are a member of the top level group?

SSRS Designer runs very slowly with large number of groups

I've developed a workaround for the recursive Parent-Child issue where groups do not export out to Excel properly (no expand\collapse navigation, no stepped groups) that involves setting up a group for each parent and then applying a filter for the parent on the UniqueName.  Children groups can then be set up with the Group set to ParentUniqueName.  This works great, except that I now have 30+ groups.  The designer (both the BIDS and ReportBuilder) have slowed down to a crawl where each click or keyboard navigation etc. takes 7+ seconds.  This has made report building extremely painful!  It is not a hardware problem, as I have tried it on a number of high powered machines with the same results.  The report itself runs relatively quickly.

Is there an upper limit for the number of groups that SSRS designer is meant to work with, or a workaround that I am not aware of?

Difference between nested groups and "Detail Groups" in Reporting Services

Hello everybody,

In a SQL Server Reporting Services Table control, we can have several groups defined, so we can have a nested set of groups. But what is a "Detail Group" in a group different from simply having several groups defined? Thanks for anybody who can enlight me.

RadioButton Groups, Table Rows And NamingContainers in asp.net

The RadioButtonList. Very handy for inviting users to select just one item from a list although because of the screen real estate it takes up, used less and less in favour of the DropDownList. In plain HTML, the browser knows to enforce the unique selected value amongst a list of radio buttons because they all have the same value for their name attributes.

(In which AJAX-enhanced CheckBoxes become more useful than RadioButtons but inheritance saves the day, and a simple RadioButton-derived control establishes the purpose of a control's naming container)

Binding Nested Listviews in MVC ViewPage

I am a longtime .NET developer but for big applications and services.  This is my first asp.net project and I have chosen MVC.   I have a need for nesting a ListView within a ListView.  In this simple catalog app, I have EF 4 Entities that are Categories, SubCategories, ItemTypes, and Items.

My goal is to display a 5 column layout of SubCategories with their ItemTypes below them in a ViewPage.  I did just fine with it done out in C# as server directives such as:

    var subcats = Model.SubCategory.ToArray();
    var nrSubCats = subcats.Count();
    var rows = (nrSubCats/5) + (((nrSubCats % 5) > 0) ? 1 : 0);
    for (var row = 0; row < rows; row++)
    { %>
        <div style="width: 100%; float: left; clear: right;">
        var start = row * 5;
        for (var i = start; (i < start + 5) && (i < nrSubCats); i++)
        var subcat = subcats[i];
            <div style="float: left; clear: right; width: 20%; margin-left: 5;">
                <h2> <%:subcat.Name%></h2>
                    foreach (var its in subcat.ItemType)

MVC2 issue - Stuck. Trying to create a cms with nested partials

I am currently trying to display multiple items on a single page. I am not sure as to how to tackle this. What I have is a database table that has all the page data in. I have this run as a PagesController and this works fine. However what I would like to do is, if say the Products page is selected via the menu, I want to pull back not only the Products page html but also get all the products, and even be able to pull them through via category. I was trying to use a partial view, but I can't get it to work. The same would be for other pages, having partial views to display the other content, ie if Gallery is selected, the page html for Gallery shows and it then can push to a partial view that pulls all the gallery images from the gallery db table and so on.

Maybe I am tackling this the wrong way. I have the pages stored in the db to allow for a CMS system I have setup. Maybe I need to use models for all the other items(Products, Gallery, Videos and such) and use the partial for the page html?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am confused.

Nested Tracers - is there a way to only log the outer trace?

I have some nested tracers. The outer one has a category of 'PageTrace' and the inner ones have categories of 'DBTrace'. When I set the outer category source to 'All' I get both traces. When I switch on the inner trace, I just get the inner trace.

So, my question: is there any way to just log the outer trace events, i.e. the Page Traces.

where can i download from SSRS?

How to change text in columns in SSRS?

I need to create a complex report and export it to Excel.

In the first column header, text is displayed as "Hide Daily Columns", but I need the text to change as "Unhide Daily columns" when I click on it and when the text changes the columns under "daily" header (I have 3 columns under this header) present in the report shud be hidden and only weekly columns shud be visible. Any ideas please. I am new to SSRS and tried out many ways but didn't get it.
