Schedule C# console app

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
I have a c# console app I created that runs fine.  It executes a bat file and then sends an email of the outcome.  I would like to schedule the process to run daily.  Since Windows Scheduler (Server 2003) is not able to send email, do not offer logging and cannot complete tasks (they run until the time limit is exceeded), I am wondering if there is another solution available to run scheduled tasks?  Thanks in advance.

Many developers who use the Microsoft .NET Framework think that application type is tied to the libraries that can be used in that application. Stephen Toub clarifies.

Standard I/O: Console Appplications in .NET, or Teaching a New Dog Old Tricks

The Microsoft .NET Framework is not just about Windows Forms and Web services. This article discusses the simplest kind of Framework-based application-the console app-along with the frequently overlooked constructs of standard input/output and the pipe. When designed carefully, console applications offer a surprisingly powerful way of solving complex programming problems. One of the more exciting aspects of this approach is that while each application in the pipe is fairly simple, the result of their interaction can be a relatively complex task. Here the author explores the ins and outs of writing these console apps.

Whistler: Build More Flexible Console Snap-ins with the MMC 2.0 Object Model

Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 2.0 provides a host of exciting new features for MMC users and snap-in developers. The new MMC 2.0 automation object model allows much of the user interface of MMC 2.0 to be accessed through script, and exposes events so that many tasks can now easily be automated. The new view extension model uses HTML to enable extensions to seamlessly integrate new user interfaces with those of existing snap-ins. MMC 2.0 also includes a specific view extension snap-in, the Extended View snap-in, which provides an interface similar to Web folders. Drag and drop support has been expanded, and console files now use the XML file format. Enhancements to console taskpads make it easier to accomplish tasks.

Looking for a simple Service and Console Client REST sample implementing BASIC authentication

Does anyone know of a C# code sample demonstrating WCF REST services and console test client with OperationContracts (GET and POST) implementing mutiple paramaters using BASIC authentication? Also, perhaps, using Fiddler as a test client as well? I have searched high and low for something like this, but have not had any success.

SharePoint 2007 - my site is schedule for deletion

My manager is getting the following email "The My Site of XXXXXXXX is scheduled for deletion. As their manager you are now the temporary owner of their site. How to schedule activity loaded from external source inside NativeActivity

I have a NativeActivity that takes an InArgument<int> that is the primary key of some table that contains a piece of xaml. When the activity runs, it loads the xaml from the database and uses ActivityXamlServices to turn the xaml into an activity. Then I try to schedule the activity using NativeActivityContext.ScheduleActivity. This fails with the message: The provided activity was not part of this workflow definition when its metadata was being processed.  The problematic activity named 'Sequence' was provided by the activity named 'RunWorkflowFromStore'. This makes sense because I never added the activity I'm trying to run to the metadata. However, when can I do that? It is only at runtime that I know the value of the primary for the xaml I'm trying to load. Or am I doing this the wrong way? Here is my code: public sealed class RunWorkflowFromStore : NativeActivity<ApprovalState> { private Activity _activity; public InArgument<int> WorkflowId { get; set; } protected override void CacheMetadata(NativeActivityMetadata metadata) { var workflowIdArgument = new RuntimeArgument("WorkflowId", typeof(int), ArgumentDirection. In); metadata.Bind(WorkflowId, workflowIdArgument); metadata.AddArgument(workflowIdArgument); } protected override void Execute(NativeActivityContext context) { // Load activity

Schedule reports with integrated authentication SSRS 2008

Hi All,  Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....." What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be hones

Query regarding Console.Writeline()

How can I create a Table to represent a Job schedule sheet?

I have the following database, consisting of 3 tables: Job, JobPhase, Assigned (as seen in the following image) I'm trying to create a page that will hold a table. The table will represent, for a particular employee (ID = D_ID), his/her corresponding Job Schedule sheet. This table will consists of the following columns: Job ID Description (from table 'Job') Comments (from table 'Assigned') 7 columns representing days of the week, with the first column representing Today's date, the next column representing the next day...-> The 7 columns for the dates will not come from the database itself (as opposed to the other columns). However, for each row, we have to check wether the start date(s) of the job's phase(s) are equal to the date column (the image will make this more clear) An example of a such table would as follows (for the employee whose D_ID is = '555'): Any ideas how I can create such a table?? Should it be done in recursive html? Or gridview maybe?? Thanks for any info

How to proceed with activeX and unmanaged win32 console[mix of a question and a discussion]

Hi I have rather weird situation. I want to get images from an ip camera to process with infamous opencv. My camera comes with description protocol for socket programmers however I do not wanna get distracted with developing that one as well. Anyway luckily there is also an MFC sample that comes with camera and it uses an activex control. My first question (1) Should I use the control as in given MFC window and then hide it from user somehow and find a way to marshal data to opencv code that I wrote or should I try to consume program in unmanaged C++(For latter one I worry whether juice worths the snooze)? Since I do not know so much about marshaling I am trying to solve this problem in 2nd method (trying to consume activex object as an ordinary com object). My second question comes here (2) I checked corresponding com object's clsid and tried to do this HRESULT hr; ::CoInitializeEx(NULL, COINIT_APARTMENTTHREADED); CLSID clsid; const IID CLSID_AMC = { 0x745395C8, 0xD0E1, 0x4227, { 0x85, 0x86, 0x62, 0x4C, 0xA9, 0xA1, 0xA, 0x8D } }; clsid = CLSID_AMC; IDispatch *amc; hr = ::CoCreateInstance(clsid, NULL, CLSCTX_LOCAL_SERVER /*this one was for activex right? */, IID_IDispatch, (void **)&amc); But it gave  0x80040154 Class not registered. Then changed last line to hr = ::CoCreateInstance(clsid, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IDispatch, (void **)&amc
