Sharepoint Foundation 2010 problems with Office 2007 ActiveX controls

I have a SPF server that I recently upgraded from WSS 3 using the database attach method. The new server configuration is SQL 2008 R2 with SPF 2010 on Windows 2008 64bit SP2. Mostly things are working fairly well, though there have been a few fires to put out. The latest inflamation seems to be centered around ActiveX controls for Office 2007. I'm getting the following message whenever I try to create a new document using the New button: " 'New Document' requires a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible application and web browser. To add a document to this document library, click the 'Upload Document' button." On the client side, the browser is IE8 on Windows 7 (Windows is 64bit, though the browser is in 32 bit mode.) using Office 2007. I've also had the same problem with systems running XP. In terms of troubleshooting, other activeX related features seem to be working fine. I can open datasheet views, if I click on a document, it will open in the appropriate client. However, I have some libraries where the Word document template opens the document information panel and those will give thhe following message on open: "One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1)Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on thi page , or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the contols. As a result the page mi

Hello there

I have created a sharepoint portal and customized it. I have created my own master page and there are many webparts implemented. This has been hosted in a MOSS server. When a normal user is trying to access the portal first thing in the morning, he is getting a "You are not authorized to view this page" error. But when a site admin access the site, there is no issue and he is able to access the site. The site admin does nothing in the site and once he has logged in to the site,  the user is able to access the site without any trouble.

I have found what was causing the issue. But dont know whats the fix for it.

The issue is...We were trying to place all the usercontrols created as part of our application in a seperate folder under ControlTemplate folder. This is what was not allowing the users who are not site admins. But it was ok, when the admin first accesses the same.

WHat is the fix for this ... to make the new folder accessable to all users ??

Kindly help...

Programatically Set Default Value of Sharepoint Controls

Please help!

I have a requirement that I need to preset the value of some columns of a new SPListItem when entering data.

The default NewForm.aspx cannot serve the purpose. So, I use the sharepoint built-in web controls to build a customized data input page. The following is some code snippets:
SPListItem   newItem = this.DataList.Items.Add();
//Preset some values before populating the controls
newItem["Title"] = "Test Title";
newItem["Agency"] = "Education";
newItem["Description"] = "Prepopulate my data accordingly";

//Use  the following code to get the proper control to populate entering contol on UI
   BaseFieldControl control = field.FieldRenderingControl;
                control.ListId = list.ID;
                control.ItemId = item.ID;
                control.FieldName = field.Title;
                control.ID = GetControlID(field);
