FAST non-admin configuration - middleware.cfg not found?!

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I'm stuck with an interesting error as i try to configure a non-admin FAST search node.  Admin configuration was successful, with deployment.xml referencing the 2ndary server, as noted in the install_info.txt I'm repeatedly receiving this same error in the non-admin configuration error log: C:\FASTSearch\bin\MonitoringServiceConfig.exe" Output - Error: The file 'C:\FASTSearch\etc\middleware.cfg' was not found. This file is in the Admin FASTSearch\etc folder, but not on the this new server i'm attempting to add to the farm.  Best i can tell there is some sort of communication issue between the two servers, but i havent been able to discover what it is?! Running the install by the install script throws a communication error related to possible ipsec issues.

Fast Search 4 Sharepoint 2010 Business Data Connectivity (BDC) - IEntity Could not be found

Hi, I am using Fast for Sharepoint and I have created a simple Employee database in SQL server 2008 and I am trying to crawl this database.

Using Sharepoint designer, I have created an external repository and I have configured it to look at my test database. After trying to crawl this database - I get two successfyul documents crawled - which are just junk documents. And 5 errors.  The errors say:

Error while crawling LOB contents. ( IEntity could not be found using criteria 'Id=2502'. )

I also noticed that if I was to disable "Defaul Action" from the BDC configuration, then I get all successful crawled documents. However, if I click on any of those documents in the search page, then it brings me to "unkown page".

This makes sense since Default Action (View Profiles) is disabled. Does anyone know how to avoid this error message above without having to disable Defaul Action check box?

P.S. I can also see that the connection between SQL Server - BDC - SP is working since when I create a user profile page, I can see that data populate.

more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found

I could resolve the later.  however after binding with namedpipe, I tried now to add an endpoint on tcp. hence I updated the host config file to the following

Custom trace listener class cannot be found via configuration

Hello everyone!

I have the following problem.

I created a simple trace listener class, which is derived from ConsoleTraceListener.

namespace TestUtils

  public class FormattedListener : ConsoleTraceListener

I added it in to app.config file:

      <add name="formattedListener"

       traceOutputOptions="DateTime" />

But when I run the program, it shows error at start: Couldn't find type for class TestUtils.FormattedListener.

The class is included in my executable, and I can create it manually in code.

Please tell me what should I do to register the class properly.

FAST Search Admin links not working

I have installed FAST for SP 2010 and configured it a little bit, but all four FAST Search Administration links "Managed properties", "Crawled property categories", "Manage property extraction" and "Spell checking management" for my Query Fast Search Service Application do not work. I get the "Unexpected error occurred while communicating with Administration Service" error and my log reports "An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors:\n\nSubject Name: CN=FASTSearchCert\nIssuer Name: CN=FASTSearchCert\nThumbprint: EBDF82DBD9688401743605B35519271CB173F441\n\nErrors:\n\n SSL policy errors have been encountered.  Error code '0x2'.."..

Handling 404 page not found with Error page

      How do i handle 404 page not found?

scripts file not found on server - 404

Fiddler is showing a 404 error when my published web application runs. the jquery.js file in
/scripts is highlighted in red by fiddler as not found. ( IIS log also shows the 404 error ).
I run the web app from visual studio, on local host - no problems. The publish is successful.
All the files are in the scripts folder of the web app on the server.

In the site.master I have:
<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Visual studio does not complain about this. ( which indicates the file is found. )

Oddly, when I fully qualify the path, VS says file not found, but after I publish and run, fiddler
shows the jquery file being found and sent to the browser.
<script src="/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

when the <script> path is "../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", the fiddler error is
404: /Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js .

when the <script> path is "/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", fiddler shows the file
being sent to the browser from that /MvcApplication1/Scripts path.

Both the Scripts fol

urlrouting - page not found error

I have a dynamic data site setup and running locally fine from vs 2008.

When i deploy to a remote windows 2003 server (IIS6), all the pages also work ok apart from one page/table.  I can access it's list page,  but the edit and insert pages throw 404 errors.

I'm thinking it's a url routing/hosting issue as i've copied back the database from the remote server and it all works fine on my local machine.

Is there anything i can do to debug this behaviour?

Below is my register routes entry from the global.asax

Any suggestions greatly appreciated as, i've been stuck on this for days :(

public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
    MetaModel model = new MetaModel();
    model.FieldTemplateFactory = new AdvancedFieldTemplateFactory();

    model.RegisterContext(typeof(Sponsorship.Data.Entities), new ContextConfiguration() { ScaffoldAllTables = false });
    model.DynamicDataFolderVirtualPath = "~/admin/DynamicData";

    routes.Add(new DynamicDataRoute("admin/{table}/{action}.aspx")
        Constraints = new RouteValueDictionary(new { action = "List|Details|Edit|Insert" }),

ASP.NET Configuration not opening

I recently upgraded to VS 2010 and downgraded to SQL Server 2005. Now when I go Website > ASP.NET Configuration nothing happens.

It's likely this has to do with the fact that when I was installing SQL Server I got the 'ASP.net Version Registration requirement' warning, as well as the 'Failed to find the ASP.net Version Registration requirement with MS IIS'.

Anyone know what I need to get ASP.NET Configuration working?

DirectoryEntry type not found

 Can someone tell me why the system does not recognize DirectoryEntry in the code below?  It indicates DirectoryEntry cannot be found.

using System;
using System.Collections;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.DirectoryServices;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement;

        DirectoryEntry objRootDSE = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + objectDn);
        ArrayList props = new ArrayList();

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

A page with information on this web service (including C# source code) is at:

Bitmap FromFile space "file not found"

I am using aspose.slides to create PPTx's. Some of the process involves loading jpg's from another server and including them in the presentation. This works fine in my development environment. When I upload the site to its server, the jpg loading fails.

I am trying to access jpg's on the other server by:

   oFS = New FileStream(sFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)

This causes an access violation error when run from the server.

I also boiled the code down to reading the file directly:

   oImg = System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(sFilePath)

This causes a file not found error.

We have narrowed the problem down to the fact that the File Path has a space in it. How does one solve this problem (while still keeping the space, there is a lot of legacy data)? I have tried replacing the space with %20 or +. I have tried using Server.UrlEncode. The error message always comes back with the encoding in place (like no decoding
