Internet Exporer Crashes when viewing a SharePoint 2010 Slide library

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have 3 environments  (Test, Development & Production) in which this issue happens on all. Whether i create a new blank or use and existing Slide library; upload more than one Powerpoint slide in the library and i put my mouse cursor on any place other than the ribbon interface, Internet explorer jams and stops working. IE restarts itself and brings you back to the library but then does the same thing if you put your cursor anywhere in the sharepoint view. We had tested using IE without addons and it worked correctly. We then ran internete explorer and disabled all addons one by one until all were disabled and the issue was still occurring. We had changed a number of settings and found that disabling "active scripting" in the IE settings also made the issue dissapear. The issue is that we want active scripting and all add ons to work aswell.  We also updated Silverlight  from 4 with a build of 3.0.4 from the Microsoft Website.   (Internet Explroer 8 is the version running on Windows 7 Enterprise edition) The issue IE creates in the application log:  Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keyword: Classic Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 8.0.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc69e Faulting module name: mshtml.dll, version: 8.0.7600.16490, time stamp: 0x4b2c9557

Slide Library missing in SharePoint Foundation 2010

I am unable to create a slide library in SharePoint Foundation 2010. I read on the internet somewhere that Slide Library is available only on MOSS 2007. Is this true?

Cannot add SQL Server 2008 R2 Report items to SharePoint Server 2010 document library

Using account which is the primary parent site administrator, can upload RDS and RDL files to the document library (however, cannot open report). User is also a domain admin with SA on the database instances. Cannot add Report Data Source with "New Document" icon. The permissions granted to user '[domain]\[user]' are insufficient for performing this operation. Under "Site Settings", "Managed Shared Schedules" fails with same error. Attempting to deploy from BIDS results in the same permissions error. Sharepoint Server 2010, Report Server 2008 R2. RS and SP databases hosted on remote server (SQL Server 2008 R2). All connections (SharePoint services, RS services, users) except SQLAgent authenticating to remote SQL Server with Kerberos (all SPNs look correct). Single site, site collection "/". Document directory called "Reports". Windows Integrated Security (Negotiate). How would I troubleshoot/solve problem?

Show wiki page library columns on wiki pages- SharePoint 2010

I created a wiki page library in SharePoint 2010 and added a few columns to the library. However, these columns do not show on the actual wiki pages as they did in SharePoint 2007. I looked through the library settings but didn't find anything to turn on this feature. Does anyone know how to do this or if this feature was even included in SharePoint 2010? Thanks.

Office 2010 can not integrate with Sharepoint Server 2010 document library, both RTM

Hi I have one standalone SharePoint Server 2010 and Office 2010 on Windows Server 2008 SP2. Both SharePoint and Office are RTM. When I create new document from the document library, it can open the Office Word.  When I save the document, Office gives me the local browser dialog other than remote sharepoint library. When I try to enter the sharepoint site url in the dialog, it tells me: path does not exist. On another machine, Windows 7, the Office 2010 RTM can open and save docs from/into the document library. There seems something wrong with the Office client. Maybe someone can tell me how to fix it. Thanks. SharePoint 2010 Product Key to use upon installation Enterprise vs Internet

We are building a public facing SharePoint 2010 instance. Now of course we have to get the correct licences for public access and such, which we have done, but we have 2 licence keys one for "Enterprise" and one for "internet". What is the basic difference between using the "Enterprise" key VS the "internet" key? The install process asks for a product key, but does not give up any hints as to which key should be used for what purpose. When installing SharePoint 2010 for our public facing sites which Product key do we use? On the face of it you would think that the the "internet" key should be used because of the public facing requirement, but would that give you all of the other services (e.g., excel, infopath, visio, etc..) that the "Enterprise" key (Licence) provides? If you install with one key and realize after the fact that you needed to install with the other key can it be easily changed or is a re-install of SharePoint 2010 needed? Any assistance would be most appreciated    MatteoMatteo

Sharepoint slide library adding functionality.

The slide library in Sharepoint allows you to upload Powerpoint slides to it, then to copy a slide to a new presentation and edit it, or check it out so you can edit it and check back in the changes. Unfortunately the ability to check out multiple slides at once to edit is not possible, only the ability to copy them to a new presentation, so you lose all data stored with them.  I am trying to find a way to be able to check out multiple slides at once, then be able to check them in when you have made changes.   My questions are basically:  Can I add a button to the Sharepoint slide library interface? How can I interact with the client machine in terms of opening Powerpoint and getting them to be able to check out the slides? I have the Sharepoint VSTO tools installed and this must be for Sharepoint 2007. Thanks

Downgrading from Sharepoint 2010 Internet Enterprise to Standard (Purely a licensing rights question

My company already owns a license for Sharepoint 2010 Internet Enterprise.  We are planning a two server Internet farm.  We need to buy one more license and we only need the standard version which is significantly cheaper.  Is it allowed to use Standard when we own a license for Enterprise?

What is SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites?

What is 'SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites', and how does it differ from regular SharePoint Server 2010? Thanks

Word 2010 crashes everytime I try to load a doc from SharePoint 2007.

Every time I try to load a doc from our sharepoint site, Word stops working and crashes.  I have repaired Office from Programs and Features, I have renamed the WWLIB.DLL as bad and then repairec again (It came back) and I can not find a dupolicate version of the owssupp.dll file.  In fact the only file in the Office 11 is the UCSribe.dll and it is not duplicated in the Office 14 folder.  The Event viewer gives this error Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fb0e Faulting module name: wwlib.dll, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fba1 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00612406 Faulting process id: 0xc98 Faulting application start time: 0x01cb5110726d8727 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\wwlib.dll Report Id: b4600a6b-bd03-11df-988f-463500000031   Does anybody have a solution for me? Intercept Check-In Event of Document Library in SharePoint 2010

we need to intercept the default check-in Event of the Document Library. The detailed requirements is as follows.   1. Intercept the check-in Event of Document Library. 2. Instead of the default check-in  page (normally this is the layout's checkin.aspx page), show our custom application page. 3. In the custom application page, allow users to provide some inputs. Validate the input values against values stored in database. 4. Once validated successfully, allow user to check-in the documents. Else, do not allow user to check-in the document.   One more additional requirement is the above things should happen only for our custom content type. In order to achieve the same, we are planning for deploying our custom document content types and perform the above operations on check-in event of the documents.     Another approach of performing the same is , have our own custom ECB Menu. The detailed process is as below.   a. Customize the check in menu (ECB) b. Show the custom form and get the inputs from user and do the validations c. On the OK button click, if validation is success, then update the meta data and check in the document or deny the process. d. But in this approach, we need to check the libraries version settings and that default functionalities should be added automatically to the check in process.   At this point of time, we a

Migrate/Move Document Library from Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

Hi, I have a customer that is setting up a new SPS 2010 environment. They have a Sharepint 2007 environment with one document library containing only PDF files. They will not need any metadata on these documents, but would like it to be moved to the new SPS 2010 environment only to be used for history and free text search. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?   Regards Christian GrannesChristianLLoyd
