I have a question about sharepoint url mapping with domain url.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Our server name is 'Com1'(100.100.xxx.xxx)and join the domain 'AD'. And dns name is 'sp.company.com'. I connect to sharepoint from users'pc with url '100.100.xxx.xxx' or 'sp.company.com'. It well done. But when I connect to Remote Desktop to '100.100.xxx.xxx'  and connect to sharepoint(machine self) with url 'sp.company.com', not connect. And if type IP directly, it well done. I want to modify TFS's sharepoint url to domain url, but I can't above situation. Anyone help me.

How to configure external domain mapping to SharePoint 2010 portal

I have created a SharePoint 2010 portal and I'm trying to configure external host header (www.xyz.com) to it. I bought www.xyz.com from provider where it was mapped to static IP address on the SharePoint server.

I tried the following options in SharePoint Admin and none of them worked.

question on attachments/document upload in SharePoint

Scenario: I have business need where I need to attach some documents to a document library. My users fill out a form, which is a custom List Form in a list called "Request" but on the same form I want to provide my users a document upload feature which will save the document to a document library called "Request Documents".

In other words, request information such as Title, Department, Description etc get saved to "Request List" (SharePoint List) whereas the documents attached/uploaded (if there are any from the user) while filling the same request form out, get saved in the "Request Documents" (SharePoint Document Library) with the same ID #. If Request ID was 100, then the uploaded document(s) in the Document Library should also be 100.

I tried a few techniques out, and I'm reading some more on Data Source Library of SharePoint but I believe I need some help from the community before I do anything further.

Moving SharePoint 2007 from Domain to a Workgroup

For development purposes, we have SharePoint 2007 installed on a virtual server (Wind 2003) on a company desktop (Vista Business ed.).  The SharePoint is using Active Directory and company domain. For learning purposes, we want to copy the virtual machine on another Vista machine that is outside the domain and is not using AD:

Question 1 : How can we move the SharePoint from a domain to a Workgroup
Question 2: Is it possible to still be able to use emails (through local installation of Outlook) on the same computer that is not on the domain? If, yes, what are the possibilities (any articles on it? Etc.)?

SharePoint read/recognize a Digital Signature in Word (XML Content Control Mapping)?

I am using Content Control Mapping to pull certain fields from a Word Document and include it as columns when a document is uploaded into a Document Library. We're using MOSS 2007 and Word 2007. It is required that the user digitally signs the document before uploading.  Is there a way to get the signature to appear as a column in a similar fashion?  I'm new to this mapping business, and Google hasn't been much help. I realize I could use the Collect Signatures workflow, but that seems cumbersome to 1) have the user submit it, 2) have an admin open each document and start the workflow and 3) have the user THEN sign the document.  That's more steps than simply manually opening and verifying digital signatures. I figure I'm missing something obvious here.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Changing the domain pointing for SharePoint installation

My client has a SharePoint 2007 installation. As their company is taken over by other company, they no longer want to stay with the existing domain / Active Directory. They have setup a new domain and want to switch over the SharePoint's domain pointing to the new domain. What necessary actions are required to make the switch over possible.Thanks.

General question steps to configure mysites in SharePoint 2010

I am trying to configure the mysite web application, so I have created a DNS record "mysite" and created a web application for the mysite and created a mysite host site collection on it. Now I have read somewhere that u have to create managed paths for the profile and the mysite, which actually corresponds with the name of the DNS record/mysite webapp. For some reason when i am opening the mysite, i get a url something like http://my/my. What am i doing wrong? Can somebody just give me a step by step approach on how to configure Mysites in MOSS 2010?I am a SharePoint Infrastructure Engineer, focussed on Administration and Installation of SharePoint Server environments.

Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. SA Question about SharePoint 2010

Hi,   This is a fairly basic question but I wasn't able to find a specific answer. I would like to know the cost of Software Assurance for SharePoint 2010 - is it a % of the license cost? What Percentage please? OR Is it a fixed $ cost? Thanks, ~Trevor

Same server farm administrator domain account for both Intranet and Internet Sharepoint site?

Downgrading from Sharepoint 2010 Internet Enterprise to Standard (Purely a licensing rights question

My company already owns a license for Sharepoint 2010 Internet Enterprise.  We are planning a two server Internet farm.  We need to buy one more license and we only need the standard version which is significantly cheaper.  Is it allowed to use Standard when we own a license for Enterprise?

Sharepoint 2010 Web Server/Domain Controller ratio

Sharepoint Survey Question

I am making a single question survey to vote on a list a videos in a document library.  Is there a way to make the options links?  I have tried quote a few things including hard coding the link (it just displays it all as text) and trying to lookup from a links list but the URL column is not availabe.  I'm open to suggestions but don't really want to do any complex mods in sharepoint.

Logon to SharePoint 2010 requires \. Why?

We've installed a fairly large number of small SharePoint 2007 environments. All of these have had their own Active Directory, specified to <domainname>.local. These have been accessible from Internet, and have simply had a external DNS pointingwww.<domain>.com to the server.  In these SharePoint 2007 environments we've used Windows Authentication, and logging on has simply been a procedure of specifying username and password. It has worked just fine. However, in our first SharePoint 2010 environment, we're encountering odd problems. We use here NTLM authentication, and  domain name is <domain>.local. The domain name used in Internet iswww.<domain>.com, which points to the SharePoint 2010 environments frontend server. We'd like to login to the SharePoint environment with simple <username> and password, but it fails. We have to explicitely specify <domain>\<username> and then password to login. Why doesn't this work, and is there any relatively easy way to fix this without disturbing the environment? From logon attempts using simply username, these events appear in the Security event log: Log Name: Security Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing Date: 7.5.2010 13:15:01 Event ID: 4625 Task Category: Logon Level: Information Keywords: Audit Failure User: N/A Computer: <COMPUTER>.<
