Preview Crystal Report from ASP.net without passing parameters

Hi Everyone,

Sorry couldn't think of any better Subject..

I am developing a User Reports Module using C#.Net using Visual Studio 2005. Basic purpose of this module is to allow user to be able to run their own Crystal Reports. i.e. if Users have their own Crystal Reports specific to their needs then we allow them to save them and view them from our user reports module.

So when user saves any report we save it on server and save the Physical path of that report in database. Now when user tries to view the report I get the location from database and load it. Which works ok. The issue now is those reports which have got parameters.

I am not saving any information about parameters in their reports. So I do not have any information about Report Parameters.

This same application exists in VB6. What that VB application does is opens the Crystal Report and then Crystal report asks for needed parameters exactly as it will do if we try to open a crystal report using crystal report and preview it from there it asks for parameter values.

How can I do that in C#.Net.

VB has got code like this

Change "View Report" button style

Hi,    How can i change the style of button "View Report" ? I want to change the image.     Tks!

While trying to view a report in integrated mode i see an unsupported RPL stream error

Trying to deploy a report in integrated mode on MOSS 2007. SQL server version is 2008 R2. I see the following:   ??? ?????????? ? ????м???? ?? ??????? ????????? ??????. ?????????? ?????????????м?? ?????? ?????? RPL: 34.62.1836345404. ??????м?? ??????: 10.3.     Yes i know its in russian. Another fail of Microsoft not being able to see the error codes and strings in english language, makes finding solutions even harder, because first you must find HOW is this called in english, then look for solution. Okay so, i found out that it is actually transalted into: unsupported RPL stream version detected 34.62.1836345404 expected version 10.3 Now, everywhere around the webs they say that this is because my Add-in is out of date and i need new RS addin for MOSS 2007.  But the link is dead!    For example, here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/61357765-52aa-4085-9ee0-4cb494a6c3ad   @For SQL 2008 R2 together with WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007, you need the SQL server 2008 november CTP add in:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=44bda62c-0cda-4a99-8d0a-d7fe06b39422 But the link is dead and there is no hint as to what happened.   The only valid link i found is this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=65606fdd-093f-4c

Unable to open design view

I have SSRS 2008(native), BIDS and VS  2008 (9.0.30729.1 SP) on Windows 7 Pro.I have a working report and today I cannot "View Designer" for my report. When I load the project, it automatically goes into rdl:code view. When I right click on the report, I see the option to view code or view designer, and select view designer, it produces a second copy of the rdl:code view. The rdl is good because: - I can build the project and the build succeeds. - I can run the rdl (right click, run) and it produces the preview of the report. Then, I started a new simple project, went through the wizard and still - no design view. This simple project also builds correctly and produces a preview report.I have checked this, and other forums but I find myself (sort of) alone in this quandary! So, how (and why) did I lose the designer view? Please help....Usman Suleman

How to properly configure permissions so users can view, add, edit, and delete list items, but not w

I am trying to figure out how to properly setup security so that it can be configured at the top-level, and then inherited all the way through. Here is what I would like to do: Each user can view, add, edit, and delete list items - but, users cannot modify or delete web part pages. The only way I know how to do this is set Contribute from the top-down, and then go into each Site Pages library and set Read access. The problem is that I have 100 sites, and I was hoping there was a way I could set security at the top, and inherit downward. Rather than having to go into all 100 Site Pages library and set Read access. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Unable to create index for view

Hi, I'm including the script for my ProductCategories table but I think it might be very beneficial for you to understand what I'm doing first: As the name implies, the ProducttCategories table is where I store all product categories for an ecommerce site. Furthermore, the CategoryHierarchy column uses the HierarchyID datatype in SQL Server 2008 so that I can have a hierarchy and make suggestions to users who are looking for a product in a category along with all its child categories. Also, in order to make the site as user friendly as possible, I've implemented friendly URLs. Therefore, I need to do a reverse look up when someone requests: Electronics-DigitalCameras-DigitalSLRs to figure out the CategoryID (int) for the Digital SLR's category. I wanted to create an index in the database to make sure these look ups would have pretty good performance and that's where I got stuck. First, I got a message that told me that I couldn't create an index because my view was not bound to schema. And when I tried to do that, I got another error saying "Cannot schema bind view 'dbo.vwProductCategoriesAndPathsOrdered2' because name 'ProductCategories' is invalid for schema binding. Names must be in two-part format and an object cannot reference itself." The view simply creates a category path that looks like this: Electronics > Digital Cameras > Digital SLRs I'd

Capturing 'View Report' Button Event

My report contains 2 dropdown lists. The 2nd dropdown list will be populated based on the selection of the first. I need to call an insertion method that will insert the selected values of the dropdown lists into the database when the 'View Report' button is being clicked. Is there a way to capture the 'View Report' button's event? Thanks in advance. (By the way, I am using SSRS 2005.)

Report builder 3.0 - Unable to connect to server

Hi there, We've been using Report Builder 2.0, and its been working pretty nicely. We have the option 'Use this report server or sharepoint site by default' option set to http://<server>/reportserver - and users can connect via the 'Open' dialog, save, etc. However, some of our users have been testing Report Builder 3.0 - and they are unable to connect, even though the URL is set exactly the same.  They have Report Builder 2.0 and 3.0 installed on the same client workstation. With the same settings, 2.0 can connect, but 3.0 can not. The target installation is SSRS is SQL 2008. The error is: Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL... Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct and you have permission to use the server. Does anybody have any ideas? thanks, mark

SSRS 2008 - report manager: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

I have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 running on Windows 2003 server.  So, the webservice URL is running on port 801, and runs fine (I can browse reports from that directory, and upload / deploy new reports and overwrite existing reports. Report manager is set to use port 800 (IIS is also on that machine running port 80).  When I attempt to connect to report manager, I get the following error, with a link to "Home" in report manager (which brings me back to the existing error page):    Unable to connect to the remote server  In the logfiles for reporting services, the following error is there: " System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.   Any ideas? Windows Firewall is NOT running on this machine.   Thanks, Chrisrjp

Unable to use XML datasource to run a report on Report server( Report runs fines in Report designer

We are trying to run a report which uses a xml file  to load a report on SSRS. We have copied the xml to the Pages folder  and are able to access the xml via the link https://<servername>/Reports/Pages/test.xml This runs fine in the report designer.(i,e we are able to get create xml data source and use a dataset to retrieve the data from xml to the report designer) However when I try to create a XML datasource on the development server and try to run the report , we get the following error Error: An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'. Failed to execute web request for the specified URL. Unauthorized: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. I have updated the XML datasource to use Windows Account which is in the adminstrators group.   Any suggestions or hints are appreciated

User does not have required permissions to view Report Manager on SQL 2008 r2

Hi all, We are installing SQL Server 2008 r2 onto a server, and this installation includes Reporting Services. SSRS works, I can deploy reports, use Report Manager, Report Builder, etc., all using my admin privs. The problem is when NON-ADMIN users connect to \\server\reports.  They get the following error: User 'DOMAIN\user' does not have required permissions.  Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. This error is resolved by giving the DOMAIN\user account local admin privs on the server. Granting admin privs is not a solution.  We have accountants and other non-technical people that will use Report Manager and Report Builder.  We can't just give every person admin privs on the production SQL server. I have done a lot of research on the web... I see a results involving earlier versions of SQL Server and Report Manager, but this is 2008 r2 - different webserver, etc. How can I resolve this issue?
