How to remove data from arrayList with Linq?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi All-This arrayList produced by the Linq query returns data pairs of an ID and count.  I would like to keep pairs that have a high enough count.  For example, keep all that have a count of 5 and higher so if the arraylist contains:userID    Count1               102               93                94                35                1the remaining data in the arraylist would be userId 1,2, and 3 (with their counts).  How can I do this? Dim customerCount = (From c In results Group c By key = c.userID Into Group _ Select New With _ { _ .userID = key, _ .Count = Group.Count() _ } _ ).ToList().OrderByDescending(Function(a) a.Count)

Linq - add data to database then email user the details

Hi all

I'm not sure how to structure the code for this but what I want to do is be able to add data to a database, and once this has completed successfully, then email the user to say the details have been added successfully to the database.

I need to:

1. Check that the relevant data has been added into the database then

2. Email the details of the relevant data when completed.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Laura

The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must

Hi,

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
        {
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
        }

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Thanks.

Data Points: LINQ Projection Queries and Alternatives in WCF Services

LINQ's ability to project randomly shaped data into anonymous types can be a blessing and a source of frustration, says Julie Lerman. It's great when you just need to grab a special view of your data, but it can be problematic in certain circumstances. She explains what the limitations are and how to get around them.

Did you know that by precompiling LINQ queries you might actually be degrading your app's performance if you're not careful? Julie Lerman explains how to ensure you're not re-precompiling queries each time and losing the expected performance benefits across post-backs, short-lived service operations and other code where critical instances are going out of scope.

Linq getting data from field on record

Hello,

   I would assume this is possiable but I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I just one the contents of a single field, I don't see why I have to return the how

record to get get that information, here is my current code, how can I make this better without returning the entire record, for just getting contents of one field.

var patternrecord = storedb.Patterns_Table.Single(a => a.Pattern_GUID == id);

A general validation attribute for checking uniqueness in a linq to sql data context

I've been programming asp.net for, oh, a couple of days now. Here's a question I can't even begin to figure out for myself. I hope it's obvious from the code what I want to accomplish, and I have, but it's not pretty. Furthermore I'd like to use it on whatever table, whatever field, i.e. check the uniqueness of a value against a table and field I specify, passing it all into the attribute constructor. public class UniqueEmailAttribute : ValidationAttribute{    public UniqueEmailAttribute()    {    }    public override Boolean IsValid(Object value)    {        //not pretty. todo: do away with this.        var db = new CoinDataContext();        int c = db.Emails.Count(e => e.Email1 == value.ToString());        return (Boolean) (c == 0);    }}

Use arrayList elements as parameter for Linq Where condition

Hi all-I have a list of customer Id's as the result of a Linq Query named "localCustomers" which contains 100 or so Customer ID's.I'm would like use this list to  query and access customers' info on the whole group.  Been searching on how to do this but no luck.  It's easy enough with one customer ID, but how do I do it with an arrayList as the parameter? Here's my latest attempt but it's not working.  Dim areaCustomers = (From a In dc.CustomerTable _ From b In localCustomers _ Where a.customerID = b.customerID _ Select New With { _ a.customerAddress, _ a.customerFirstName, _ a.customerLastName}).ToList()

No Return Type for a Stored Procedure in a Linq to SQL Data Layer

Hello. First, I don't know if this is the right forum section to post this in, but I couldn't fine a more suitable one. Feel free to move this if it's totally worng. I have a weird problem when using LINQ to SQL and Store Procedures with a return value... The problem is that when I drag my SP's onto the "Methods Pane" the property field "Return Type" is set to (None) and greyed out. And here's the most weird thing... I created a test SP yesterday wich returned SCOPE_IDENTITY() and it worked flawlessly. Dragged it onto the "Methods Pane", could play with the return type property (hence it was not greyed out) and everything was working out nice. I used a ISingleResult<T> and could fetch the .ReturnValue... Today I was going to contiune to create the rest of the SP's i needed with a return type but today when I drag my Store Procedures to my Methods Pane, I couldn't access the Return Type property... I even dragged the SAME procedure I used yesterday (wich then worked great) and now I can't get the dbml-layer to notice that there is a return value... I've tried to create new solutions, new Data Layers, used different databases/servers, but still the same problem... Don't really know if it's LINQ or something else that's causing this... This is how part of my SP wich I used yesterday to test looks
