Is there a way for me to set the CommandTimeout property on the SqlCommand. I can see that there is a DbResourceAllocator that has a NewCommand that creates the SqlCommand but there is now way that I can change the CommandTimeout property. My workflow is quite large and I am save the Tracking information as well with the SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService. These are the service that I load: string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DBConnectionWorkflowTracking"].ConnectionString; SqlWorkflowPersistenceService persistenceService = new SqlWorkflowPersistenceService(connectionString); persistenceService.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(persistenceService); SqlTrackingService sqlTrackingService = new SqlTrackingService(connectionString); sqlTrackingService.PartitionOnCompletion = true; sqlTrackingService.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(sqlTrackingService); SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService wb = new SharedConnectionWorkflowCommitWorkBatchService(connectionString); wb.EnableRetries = true; wr.AddService(wb); wr.AddService(new CallWorkflowService()); wr.AddService(new CallWorkflowWorkflowLoaderService()); Can anyone help? Thanks Gert

Farm, SPWebApplication.Lookup, System.InvalidOperationException

Dear all,   I have a piece of code that works well on a standalone SharePoint installation:   public void SetPeoplePickerProperty(string webAppUrl) { // elevate permissions to allow setting of property. SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate() { System.Uri srvrUri = new System.Uri(webAppUrl); SPWebApplication webApp = SPWebApplication.Lookup(srvrUri); if (!webApp.PeoplePickerSettings.OnlySearchWithinSiteCollection) { webApp.PeoplePickerSettings.OnlySearchWithinSiteCollection = true; webApp.Update(); } }); }   When I deploy it to a server farm, I get the following error: System.InvalidOperationException: This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database. To connect this server to the server farm, use the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard, located on the Start menu in Administrative Tools.   at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebApplication.Lookup(Uri requestUri) The user running the query is farm administrator. It has the necessary access to the configuration database. The server running the code is joined to the farm.   Ideas anyone?   Thanks,   Tore.

Word Interop - System.InvalidOperationException in System.Windows.Forms.dll

Word 2003 Interop

Problem:

I am trying to recreate the "AmbiguousMember" example from p. 31 of Whitechapel's "MS .NET Development for MS Office" using VB instead of VC#.

This involves implementing an event handler for the Word Quit event. In the event handler, I need to toggle the Enabled state of two buttons. This causes the following error:

A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll

The code behind the Form1 form is shown below. Form1 has two buttons: Button1 "Run Word"; Button2 "Quit Word". The event handler is intended to clean up if the user quits the Word application, and reset the buttons.

System.InvalidOperationException: Internal .Net Framework Data Provider error 12.

Hi,

I have created an application in which there are few forms. Each form has fields which are linked to a backend table/tables. My application is supposed to be accessed by multiple users concurrently. I ran a test where I created a class file in windows application and i ran a for loop in it to call the url of my application. I wanted to test the effect of firing around 200 queries to my query engine.

The test code is :

namespace MachineGun

{

static class Program

{

/// The main entry point for the application.

The semaphore timeout period has expired

Hello,

For the past few days something weird is happening to our sql server box.  During running some procedures we get the following error message:

Msg 121, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)

It seems to happen when running large procedures or even small queries, the session where i run the query get disconnected but I can reconnect right away but it may happen again couple minutes later.

 I'm connecting to my Windows server 2003 using remote desktop and running procedures from the SQL Server installed on the Windows Server.

Anybody has an answer?  Thanks.

ReloadTrackingProfiles: System.InvalidOperationException: TrackingListener for instance %0 is not in

Hi,

I am hosting Workflows (dll based) in a web application. I created my own TrackingService and my own TrackingChannel (code below). When starting a workflow, everything works fine, all events are tracked. After re-building my solution, workflows, that were running before, do not track anything anymore (although they continue execution). Info: On every build, the build number of all assemblies is increased by default.

I tried to reload the tracking profiles after loading workflows (using workflow.ReloadTrackingProfiles();), but this leads to the error above.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks,

matthias

Here is the code for the tracking service:

    public class EnablerWFTracking : TrackingService {

        private TrackingProfile profile;

        #region Constructor

        public EnablerWFTracking()

            : base() {

            profile = this.CreateTrackingProfile();

        }

        #endregion

        #region CreateTrackingProfile

SQL 2005 Management Studio Timeout expired

I get the message - "Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding" - when working with large tables in Management Studio.

I have tried changeing the following:

1) Selected Tools -> Options

2) Expanded the "Query Execution" node

3) Clicked on "SQL Server"

4) Set value for "Execution time-out"  to 0 and  various  numbers up to 1800

Also checked the following

1) In Object Explorer I right-clicked on the server and selected "Properties"

2) Selected the "Advanced" page

4) Set the value for "Query Wait" under "Parallelism"  to various values from the default of -1 up to 1800.

ServerVersion = 'Conn.ServerVersion' threw an exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException

Hi

I have a web service  which tries to connect to the SQL server.

It uses Integrated security = true.

I get the Conn.ServerVersion threw an exception of  type System.InvalidOperationException as soon as the connection object is instatiated.

Any leads.

[Moderators please help me out if this is in the wrong section]

I have an admin system where you can enter a CustomerID and then switch to that customer (so that you can edit details as if you are that customer).  However there are certain times when the system is busy that there are "timeout expired" exceptions.

Both the website and the database are on the same server.  When I log onto the server I looked at the Control Panel and "event viewer (application)" to see if there were any issues listed there and found the following that happened at the same time.  Anyways I am trying to find out more information so I can prevent this issue from happening in the future.

I'm wondering how I can look at server performance when timeout issues were reported so that I can pinpoint what the exact cause of the timeouts were.  I see under Control Panel that there is a "performance" tool, but can that only be used for what is happening once you start that tool?

The event detail that I found of timeout is below (function/server and IP names changed because no need for anyone to see those):

<EVENT>

Event code: 3005
