response.Outputstream problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I'm trying to get create a page that grabs a file from a directory and streams the binary data to an embedded media player.   When the following code is used on a page that acts as the URL for the embedded media player the player only plays the first 11 seconds and then stops.Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim iStream As System.IO.Stream Dim strFile As String Dim strFolder As String Dim Length As Integer 'strFile = "CFD30HB1404100AD.mpeg" 'strFolder = "C:\wmdownloads" strFile = Request.QueryString("Filename") strFolder = Request.QueryString("Folder") ' Open the file. iStream = New FileStream(strFolder & "\" & strFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read) ' Total bytes to read: Length = iStream.Length Dim Buffer(CInt(Length)) As Byte iStream.Read(Buffer, 0, CInt(Length)) iStream.Close() Response.Clear() Response.ClearHeaders() Response.Charset = "UTF-8" Response.ContentEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8 Response.ContentType = "video/mpeg" Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=&

Writing Bitmap to Response.OutputStream - Generic Error Occured in GDI+

This is what I'm trying to do when I get the error on the server (it works on my local machine):

System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(filepath);
System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(image);

Response.ContentType = "image/bmp";
bmp.Save(Response.OutputStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp);

I don't think it can be a permissions problem because this works on the server:

System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(filepath);
System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(image);

Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg";
bmp.Save(Response.OutputStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg);

So how do I get this to work for a bitmap?

Response.Redirect problem in Google Chrome

I'm building an ASP.NET 3.5 webapplication using VB.NET, and I'm having problems redirecting to another URL when using Google Chrome. Other browsers like IE and Firefox are fine.My data entry forms all have an OK and an Cancel button, which are both handled server-side. The Cancel button just redirects back to the originating page, while the OK button will add or update a database record and then redirect to the originating page.The redirect to the originating page is done by calling the following shared sub on a general utilities class in my appication: Shared Sub Redirect(ByVal p_sURL As String) Dim l_sURL As String = p_sURL.ToLower If Left(l_sURL, 1) = "~" Then Dim l_oControl As New System.Web.UI.Control l_sURL = l_oControl.ResolveUrl(l_sURL) End If If Left(l_sURL, 1) <> "/" Then If Left(l_sURL, 7) <> "http://" AndAlso Left(l_sURL, 8) <> "https://" Then l_sURL = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.GetLeftPart(UriPartial.Authority) & wsUtils.SiteRoot & l_sURL End If End If HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect(l_sURL) 'HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect(l_sURL, False) End Sub As you can see, I've tried using the extra argument in the Response.Redirect call, but that

Problem with closing window in ie 6 sp 3 after download using Response.BinaryWrite

Hi all, I currently having problems in closing a page that launches a download (using Response.BinaryWrite) opened using IE 6 sp 3. All other versions of IE it closes fine. This page was opened using window.open. Below is a sample code of what i am trying to achieve: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Clear(); //Specify the document type. Response.ContentType = "application/word"; //Specify how the document is sent to the browser. Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=MyDasddsaocument.doc"); //Get data bytes from the file and send it to the response. byte[] bytes = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(@"C:\\Temp\\in.doc"); Response.BinaryWrite(bytes); Response.End(); Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "CloseMe", "window.close();", true); } I hope someone can help me with this issue. Thank you in advance.

Problem with Response.End

I am using the following code to export some csv data to excel. The code has been working fine for ages (using IE) but has recently stopped working. I have noticed that the only way to get the export to work is by holding down the control key?I have tried a few different contenttypes and headers but always get the same issue whereby I have to hold the control key down before I am asked to save or open the file. Does anybody know how I can get around this? Or even why it is happening?Response.ContentType = "Application/x-msexcel" Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=""" & Me.FileName & """") dim csv as string = "1,2,3,4,5,6" Response.Write(csv) Response.End() Thanks in advance.

An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to xxx problem. WCF comunication

I have been having this problem transmiting data (XML from a microsoft sincronization session v1.0) to a WCF service on IIS 6.I have enabled tracing on my WCF service, verbose, but nothing shows up. No exceptions what so ever.My client connects over a GPRS line. But i have also done this over ADSL with the same results.The thing is, it starts transmiting ( i can see it on wireshark) but suddenly the server side sends a TCP RST packet and the transmission ends with a client exception like An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://blabalblabla/Service.svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details.It never actually gets to my code (otherwise i would probably see something on my trace)Thank you!My binding are this (on client):<basicHttpBinding><binding name="BasicHttpBinding_Issap_mainSyncContract" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:10:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="

GridView and mouse double click Response.Redirect problem

VS 2005, AJAX

I use gridview and I need single and double click for each row in gridview.

When I click once on a row, some action will execute (e.g. next button should be enabled) and when I double click the row there should be redirection to another page.

I used the code below for both single and double click  usage:

protected void GwContainers_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
                if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                    // Get the LinkButton control in the first cell

                    LinkButton singleClickButton = (LinkButton)e.Row.Cells[8].Controls[0];
                    // Get the javascript which is assigned to this LinkButton

XmlTextWriter using context.Response.OutputStream just stops outputting

I'm using a ashx file and some database calls to output a list of all pages/images to a gogole sitemap - but my output seems to just stop before ending. I'm flushing on a regular basis so not sure what it coulf be - I'm no stream guru. Rather than using a memory stream or string builder I'm using the HttpCOntect directly - so may be part of it.

Brief outline of code :

context.Response.ContentType = "text/xml";
context.Response.ContentEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8;
xmlWriter = new XmlTextWriter(context.Response.OutputStream, Encoding.UTF8);
xmlWriter.Formatting = Formatting.Indented;

xmlWriter.WriteAttributeString("xmlns", "http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9");
xmlWriter.WriteAttributeString("xmlns:image", "http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1");

//Loop through DataTAble ROws doing something along the lines of :

while (intCount < sectionTable.Rows.Count)

Using response.outputstream.write to stream large file fails in firefox

I have some code to stream files (for security of the files), the code works for all files in IE, and small files in firefox. but If the file is large (eg 750Mb) firefox hangs before it shows the open/save dialog box.

However if i take out response.clearheaders and the response.flush in the code it does download but all the files downloaded by firefox are corrupt because the file size is too large.   Filenames are guids but I took the "-" out incase that was an issue.

If any one can shed some light on this I would be very grateful.

Function is Below.

Private Sub StreamFile(ByRef response As HttpResponse, ByVal sFile As String)
            Dim fs As FileStream = Nothing
            Dim sFileName As String = Path.GetFileName(sFile)

            Dim oFile As New FileInfo(sFile)

                fs = New FileStream(sFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.ReadWrite)

            Catch ex As Exception

            End Try

            'response.ClearHeaders() 'makes file size wrong in firefox
            response.AddHeader("Content-Length", oFile.Length)
            'To forcefully download, even for Excel, PDF files, reg

Soap cs code from WSDL encoding response problem

I have created a client proxy from a WSDL file with WSDL.exe

i can both send and recieve data fine.

The xmlfile i recieve contains Nordic char data (i see that in fiddler).

ex: <mydata>øæå</mydata>

The problem occurs when the data goes into my client proxy. It looks like they are in utf-8 format (and that will not work with nordic chars).

so the nordic chars are just scrambled.

any way to override this ?

 object[] response = this.Invoke("Query", new object[] { message });
 message = ((elements)(response[1]));
 return (string)(response[0]);

Problem to group radio button across gridview rows

In general no one can easily group or make a single selection from radio button list inside gridview rows. There are a lot of way to make a single or unique selection from list. Here i want to share how i can address this problem in the most easiest way. Googling the problem most of the cases i saw the grouping in horizontal way. Thats why i tried to group the radio buttons in vertical manner. Let i have a requirement like below:

I have a MS SQL database where i have stored some documents as Binary data. I cant figure out how to retrieve them and show/download them in my browser.

I found some guides online and have try to put something together.

private void Write()
 int id = 0;
 string strID = Request.QueryString["id"];
 int.TryParse(strID, out id);

 var db = new ModelDataContext();
 var doc = db.DocumentDatas.Where(x => x.ID == id).FirstOrDefault();

 byte[] byteArray = File.ReadAllBytes(doc);

How do i fill the byteArray with the data?

Thanks in advance :)

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?

ASP.Net Caching problem ??

I'm having a problem with an asp.net 3.0 application using a gridview to display data.  The problem seems to be that despite a brand new .selectCommand being sent to the sqlDataSource, the gridview starts displaying data from *someone else's* query.  For example, user A is logged in and will be working fine until a few page submissions later when the gridview data starts suddenly showing information that belongs to another user.

This is my first asp.net application, though I've been working with classic asp and ADO for years so I'm used to sending a SQL string and getting back the results from that string.  Apparently there is a complex caching system which is interferring which I do not at all understand so at this point I just want to stop the server from caching any data whatsoever.  Is this possible?

Any and all help will be much appreciated!!
